It was my problem and I had to realy analyze my feelings and get over it. He is still a good man with a wonderful heart and soul and his music is a gift to the world.

I guess I'm still mourning it all these years later, and wonder if he could have found what he was looking for in Orthodoxy with the right help. Those of us born into it can really take it for granted, and don't realise what a pure version of Christianity it is. We think it's strict like Catholicism but if you study the church's history it is pleasantly surprising how democratic an institution it is.

But who knows if he would have been on the same path to find his music and God if he had been as strong in Orthodoxy. As a convert to Orthodox Christianity I too mourn his departure yet we must remember his mother was Lutheran. (Traditionally the Church would not have permitted such a marriage though assumably his father obtained permission.)

Unfortunately, not every local Church on earth is as perfectly glorious as the Church Triumphant. This has disillusioned many yet still many others have found the Rock to be steadfast.
