Bentley is the best brand for those who have money and respect. What's the point to buy CL 600 or AMG if other people can buy A class car to say: "I drive a Mercedes Benz too?"
I truly appreciate both of these cars. But if i had to pick one, i would definitely go with the CL600. Performance, exterior and interior. Bentley a lil too plain for me.. But if i was a multi-millionaire, i would definitely pick both.. make it a bentley speed :D
merc may have abetter performance and more cheaper than the bentley but bentley makes the benz look like a econo car like a civic , plus bentley is all about luxury and comfort and besides if you want a performance car there a lot of supercars that gives more than these two cars with a cheaper price
I think the journalist forgot to mention some points: although both cars were 2007 models, the Bentley Continental Gt is around from some years already and a new model is coming out very soon. The Bentley has 4 wheel drive and I think it is heavier than the Merc. Also I think in 5 years of ownership the Bentley will keep its value much better then Merc. Anyway I like both cars but I think the journalist point of view was not very impartial. SSFFTT

I could care less about the performance, even though both are amazing machines. But, when you tell someone "I just bought a Mercedes" they say "very nice", but when you show up in a Bentley their mouth will drop.
So they say these are drivers cars and the Bentley's seats are tyoo small? How fat are these people? You don't buy this kind of car to hammer the last 10th of a second out of it. When you buy something like this the speed is expected so a tenth here and there means nothing. The Mercedes is a nice car but it's just another CL. When you have money you realise there's more to life than bullshit bragging. That's also why Ferrari can keep charging double for similar spec. For special you buy branded.
I'd still get the bentley... i mean, it's a fucking bentley, when you buy a car like that, you want the name as well, not just the performance etc. there's so many benzos on the roads, while seeing a bentley is a rarity. its much more prestige i'd say, which is why you gotta pay 50 grand more. as far as the performance goes, it's not a track car, and you can throw in a chip and some other easy/cheap improvements to make it go much faster than the benz in a straight line.
The 2000-2006 C215 CL-class had a MUCH sharper and more atheletic stance than this CL. It's just too fat and bulbous in all the wrong places, not to mention its front fascia is about as bland as a Toyota Avalon's.
As far as this comparison goes, I chose the Bentley.

Unfortunately this Bentley is based on a Volkswagen Phaeton (From engine and transmission down to basic seat controls). It's no Bentley at all. VW has completely ruined the brand by making them half the cost.

the bentley badge is what 90% of that car is all about. its looks really isnt mind blowing, kinda looks like a jaguar s type but its the "presence" you get when you buy it. when you roll down a street and people start whispering. if you dont care about that then go get a "drivers car" like a m6 or whatever.
I think the Bentley has a better handeling and it looks better....But its a footballer's car, and the CL basically has nothing wrong, it very comfortable and quick long distance cruiser, thats what it is.
I will get the CL 63 AMG though, the sound is just tooooo tempting when you decides to open the taps a little.
The Bentley is more beautiful and more 'awe' aspiring, it just lacks space over the CL600. Both are highly competitive cars, & very pricey. THe 50 Thousand dollar price difference claims the tp spot for me. The CL600 is nice though, it's just that you dont see Bentley everyday unless you live in LA or Miami

Correct. If your in the market for a Bentley, your are not cross shopping an MB. Quality and performance aside, its a status thing. You cross shop Ferrari and Maserati in this price range. Aston too.

Saying you have a Mercedes is pretty common now, but saying that you have a Bentley brings you to a whole new level of class.I have both, the CL 63 AMG and the continental supersports and I have to say that I love my Bentley. It hugs the road perfectly when I open up the throttle, but in the AMG I feel that even a twitch of the steering wheel will send it sideways under hard acceleration.
Mercedes is bigger, more comfortable (I personally think it looks better but that's me), and faster than the Bentley. The only cars it will be competing with is the CL63 and the CL65 AMGs. I think the CL65 is overkill, from what I heard, you couldn't use all that power even if you wanted to. The CL63 and CL600 are dangerously close in price and are roughly the same power (CL600 makes more torque). Tough choice...
CL63 is cheaper and hungrier than CL600, and produces much less torgue. CL65 is a nonsense on wheels, same as SL65 and S65, they notoriously fail to deliver that power to the wheels, a guaranteed waste of money. If you like the AMG budge and CL600 power, get CL600 with complete AMG kit, which will be just 5 grand more than the base CL600, and at least 50 grand cheaper than CL65.

Something I have never understood is why some older cars can stop better than these newer ones. I drive a 1990 Jaguar saloon and its got single piston brakes and it can stop from 60mph in 107 ft. and it weighs more than both of these. So why do these lighter cars with 6 piston calipers need more room to stop. Ive never understood it.

I personally think the cl is a much better car than the continental, because the cl is a proper merc, whereas the continental is basically a VW in a nice suit.

@thepersianlion The CL600 can be used as an everyday super comfortable and super fast car in one an, relatively speaking, is more subtle than an Aston. Only the owner knows its true capabilities on the highway.

@SSStormtroop Aston has more beautifull cars. And please don't respond with anything obscene, at home we have three Mercedes-Benz's, so I defenitely love the company, but it's not comparible. If I was a pop-star I'd choose the Aston, as a CEO (or anything high in a company) I'd always, undoubtedly would choose a Mercedes-Benz. (SL, S, E, CLS, CL, G, ML, SLS, SLR, R, C-class even... it wouldn't really matter).

nopee i jst dont agree with this videoo... mercedes has become a casual name now.. to the point where you can pretty much see one down every road... bentley has the priceless name behind it.. and if you can afford either of these, its going to be all about the name for you.. bentley is just in a different class, also if all you wanted is fast speeds and performance, go and get a lambo or porshe, its not all about speed when your that rich, its about prestige and bentley has buckets of it. ;)

Correct. If your in the market for a Bentley, your are not cross shopping an MB. Quality and performance aside, its a status thing. You cross shop Ferrari and Maserati in this price range. Aston too.

Saying you have a Mercedes is pretty common now, but saying that you have a Bentley brings you to a whole new level of class.I have both, the CL 63 AMG and the continental supersports and I have to say that I love my Bentley. It hugs the road perfectly when I open up the throttle, but in the AMG I feel that even a twitch of the steering wheel will send it sideways under hard acceleration.

They do care about, how big the chairs are(for they have fat asses) and they do care that the ride quality is good.

Where I live Mercedes are so common, dull and boring. I saw a Bentley parked on Walgreens. Nice car.
I reject the day I lease a Mercedes Benz C300. After 2 years I switched to a BMW 328i. Nice car and nice power.

Mercedes is bigger, more comfortable (I personally think it looks better but that's me), and faster than the Bentley. The only cars it will be competing with is the CL63 and the CL65 AMGs. I think the CL65 is overkill, from what I heard, you couldn't use all that power even if you wanted to. The CL63 and CL600 are dangerously close in price and are roughly the same power (CL600 makes more torque). Tough choice...

CL63 is cheaper and hungrier than CL600, and produces much less torgue. CL65 is a nonsense on wheels, same as SL65 and S65, they notoriously fail to deliver that power to the wheels, a guaranteed waste of money. If you like the AMG budge and CL600 power, get CL600 with complete AMG kit, which will be just 5 grand more than the base CL600, and at least 50 grand cheaper than CL65.

Something I have never understood is why some older cars can stop better than these newer ones. I drive a 1990 Jaguar saloon and its got single piston brakes and it can stop from 60mph in 107 ft. and it weighs more than both of these. So why do these lighter cars with 6 piston calipers need more room to stop. Ive never understood it.

there is no such thing as a low end bentley. plus if you do compare mercedes to the arnage, azure, brooklands, mercedes still comes on top!!! and honestly the flying spur is bentleys best car believe it or not. i have nothing against bentley truly wonderful car maker but mercedes is just better and offers more for less money

I hate Bentley. The Merc would be nice with a ///AMG bodykit. The CL65 ///AMG is for guys who want the best specs. The CL600 is practically the same except for a few small things.
