  • Nice work. Sounds like you transcribed the head of the OP version.

  • this is deffinately a reflection of the oscar peterson version, however he didnt actually write the tune

  • You're right! Oscar Peterson only made up this arrangement. Duke Ellington is often named as the composer of the tune, even though Jimmy Forrest is presumably the original composer.

  • The song riff was not composed by Forrest or Duke, it was playe ina jam session in 1940 by Johnny Hodges (Ellington was there). In 1945, Ellington composed the Deep South Suite, and one of the movements was a blues called Happy-Go-Lucky Local. Some years later, Forrest (part of Ellington's band) released the shuffle blues Night train, based on Happy-Go-Lucky Local, and it became a big R&B hit. As you know, O.P. recorded his version on December 16, 1962, with Ray Brown (b) and Ed Thigpen (d)

  • cool stuff a nice composition of an oscar peterson classic! I want to do a small stage band like this at my school.

  • You're welcome monsieur!

No problem man, your french is very good. If you like Oscar Peterson and this kind of playing, you should listen to Gene Harris too! Please keep playing, and thanks for the comment!
