Both were excelent at their moment. Dee Dee was very explosive, a big bassisit and a big composer, but he left the train a got lost. CJ was a delicious guy, very hansome, but was too a very good singer a bassist. He definitively was a real Ramone.

@rossan80 CJ Ward gave the ramones a big kick in the rear when they needed one. Dee Dee was a critical figure to the ramones He gave then their intensity and bizarre sense of humor. He also wrote many of their signature songs. But drugs, madness and age tired him out. He santed to do his own thing. (remember DeeDee King?) However he continued to write great songs for the Ramones even after leaving. 6 songs on Adios Amigos were DeeDee's.

Todo bien amigo, pero si sos un ramonero de sangre, no podes decir semejante barbaridad, Dee Dee es un genio, el alma mater del legado ramone, pero CJ le dio frescura a la familia, como un hijo que heredo la mismas cualidades del padre, mis respetos para CJ, un gran musico y un gran tipo. Richie (a mi parecer un musico de puta madre) no pudo adaptarse y le peso este legado, los Ramones son una sola persona, tienen esa imagen monolitica que muy pocas bandas pudieron reflejar.

CJ couldn't carry Dee Dee's jock. Dee Dee was the primary song writer for the Ramones and he started the band with Johnny. The band took Dee Dee's surname Dee Dee "Ramone" so Dee Dee WAS the Ramones. Even after he left he still wrote the songs.

@rnrhighschool Dee Dee real name was Douglas Glenn Colvin. A friend of mine met him on the street and that's how he introduced himself. He came up with the name ramones after one of Paul McCartney's pseudonyms and it was his idea to name everyone ramone. DeeDee wrote many of the bands best songs with Joey (Jeff) writing most of the rest.  Tommy wrote Blitzkrieg Bop however. Dee Dee continued to write songs for the ramones right up to the end. 6 of them are on Adios Amigos.
