  • I've never had a Neo Geo or Neo Geo color, but i like the fact that it has an analog and a menu. If it had better games like Pokemon and Mario than i think it would have been HUGE!

  • nice video! i really like the system, but hate the fact, tthat the display has no backlight!

  • beter then gbc

  • @TheSleathable I would have spat in his face .

  • Wow, I'd like a NGPC in a camo pattern.

  • An excellent handheld color console, way better than the GBC. Sonic is amazing as is Metal Slug. A true winner.

  • that was the same game boy color I had as a kid.

  • Cool shirt!

  • Is this a review or a comparison video?

  • I never had one, but this thing looks GREAT! especially in this color.

  • I love my Neo Pocket Color!!!

  • I know your trying really hard so I'll give you an A for effort.

  • woah woah woah, back the truck up. Did he just say Sword of Vermillion? As in the Genesis RPG? Was this a mistake, or was it actually ported to the NGPC? I've never seen it on any list.

  • the gbc is not the first gameboy

  • @akuji330 Well of course but it was the 1st Gameboy with different colors.

  • @akuji330 he siad it was the firs gb "that could display color grapix"

    learn to listen -.-

  • great review. i'm on my way to having a complete collection of all neo geo pocket games and system.

  • @CrushCrawfish Valid point, but considering I've only just started collecting, and there were only 39 European releases, from what I have experienced the potential was immense, shame the support wasn't there.

  • you sort of remind me of Sid from toy story

  • that's a SWEET shirt by the way. Love and peace baby.

  • is this an 8 or 16 bit system

  • @Vitally14 16bit

  • Something Must Be Wrong With His Pocket Color Because The Digital Thumb Stick Feels Nothing Like The PSP Thumb Stick

  • I asked how much at play n trade. The casher laughed.

  • @PSPmyDS hahahah well that casher is a dumbass because the pocket color is very rare so that means its worth money!!!

  • I Can't Wait To Get This!!! I just ordered one and its the same color as the one on this video

  • Now up to a whopping SEVEN!!! ^_^

  • I have the purple and grey marble-effect one and five games. It's a great little system.

  • @liamh1982 Shoot, if it takes 5 okay to good games to make a great system than almost every system is a great system. Horay for everything better than those old Tiger Electronics games that I use to have. They were only one game. Like the TMNT one that I had. All you could play was TMNT over and over.

  • man i would've enjoyed the neo geo color more than the game boy as a child

  • Always like your videos!

I did buy one on Ebay yesterday and cant wait,I like the games it offers and having that (Nerd History)is pretty cool to go along with all my other game system that didnt make it to the top of the list.

Mine is a Japanese clear slim model and it came with Tsunagete Pon for $36.00 so Im very happy!

  • @russell56443 wow that is a preatty good deal. I just ordered a blue on for 30. Wish I could have found on like that.

  • The KA rating came before the E rating so I'm sure the ESRB started to take more of a powerful position at the time this system hit the USA

  • When I was a Kid i chose to get a neo geo pocket color.

I couldnt understand why everyone had a game boy color instead.

Basically the dude in the game shop was laughing at my for buying it and even threw in some freebies..

It was only on the shelves a few short months..

It taught me a life lesson..better doesnt always succeed and art sells depending on how much advertising money it has.

Ive still got the neo geo mint cond..i look after my stuff.

  • @TheSleathable, are ya willing to sell it?

  • @NeCacaluXuxultic

One day I probably will. Its the best colour..marble blue. All boxes and I even brought the rare game Faselei! at the time. I even have the link cabel..it was so awesome using that.

  • @TheSleathable, I'll buy ya the link cable for 8 bucks XD

  • your a nerd homo

  • HIDEOUS FACE REVEALED AT 5:42

  • I can see your silly face

  • Your a fucking failure.

  • I love trigun too.... wait, this is not what this video is about...

  • at 0:25 he calls pokemon "infamous". Why? Pokemon was great!

  • omg, i still have one of those :D

  • "Memory failure imminent" - Awesome phrase! Might just have to put a nearly dead battery in mine to see that! :)

  • i attack him he blocks....i attack him he gets hurt....i attack him he gets hurt...he attacks me i block...

  • Not a bad review but fighting games aren't for retards, they're for TRUE gamers. You know, people who actually take time to master and experiment around with expansive movesets and intricate combos.

Plus the Ebay tip is useless. The boxed Neo Geo Pockets (console only) are more expensive than a Nintendo DS Lite or PSP! Although I did see a 65-66$ one with a few games, but had no box.

  • Why do you call games apps?

  • @cozmicist

He is using the term "killer app", not just calling games apps. When applied to video games "killer app" is a term used to describe a game that is so popular/essential that it is responsible for selling systems, ie. Sonic the Hedgehog for the Genesis or Super Mario World and Street Fighter 2 for the SNES. For example, I and many people I know only bought a Gamecube initially for Resident Evil 4, making it a killer app.

  • This shit brings back memories... it was epic. I had all of those games and more hahhaa

  • @kagetoh what the..........0_0

  • @kagetoh Oh you can't handle erm or uh you must be screwed if you ever want to talk to people

  • I didn't know Owen Wilson did game reviews 0_0

  • i just get my neogeopocket color today it came with 3 game king of fighters 3 bust a move pocket and sonic the hedgehog pocket adventure

  • i want me one DX

  • You did a some what good review, but you bullshit to much...even in the words you choose to describe your console (words you don't even know the meaning to). Just get to the point. And it's not a very hard console to find, SNK was very generous when it came to supply....not sure about the demand part. I've had 4 of them and every single one was bought at an actual electronics establishment or at a used goods place. Get a new camera man, I feel like you smeared Vaseline all over your lens.

  • You're batteries are dying bud.

  • i remember my Neo Geo Pocket Color......

i was 4 years old when i got it.

    Good times...good times...

  • i got one of this but it's silver with only one game, sonic.

  • Would you spend $50 or over on ebay for a neo geo pocket color

  • Ive got the exact same colour!

  • This guy is the only person I have ever seen that complained about the Neogeo Pocket Color's controls. It's a handheld arcade unit and the thumb stick is not comparable to the PSP at all.

To anyone interested in the Neogeo Pocket Color I recommend you go find "SVGR: NEO GEO Pocket." There are a few wrong facts in that video, but the review is far more even handed and I recommend this if you want a real idea of what's good about the system.

  • you cant see anything in any of your reviews. whats the point of reviewing consoles when the audience cant see any of the graphics or gameplay when you turn the thing on?

  • i have one of these but it's silver and i only got one game, sonic.

  • Pokemon wasn't "infamous" it was actually one of the most well known games on the GBC.

  • @SoAwesomeness Are you retarded or just a troll...sometimes it's hard to tell.

  • @threetailfox

    Idk, are you?

  • I only have Nintendo handhelds so I'm considering getting a Neo Geo Pocket Color. What are the best games for it (besides Capcom vs. SNK)?

  • @syst3m08 The sonic game I hear is pretty good, and I think theres a metal slug?

  • Neo Geo. Ahhh good times when SNK was alive.

  • Wait wait, when the hell did kids start calling games apps?? This is bull shit, its not a fucking apple hand held.

  • it is an aplication smart one think about it for a second

  • @bullmad43

People only started using the word app when the ipod touch got released. Do you think people called game carts app's 10 years ago? No they didn't. I really hope it doesn't catch on.

  • ESRB started in 1994.

  • STOP CALLING GAMES APPS!

  • um...... You know he can call them what he wants.

  • Might help to know a bit about the system before you review it.... Just saying.

  • Thats a nice design I wish my DS had a Camo-like design like that.

  • I know this is an old video and I'm sure you know by now, but the neo geo pocket was more towards the late 90's. Well after the ESRB was in affect.

  • how is linkable to the dreamcast they dont have any of the same games?

  • Great video, man. I'm planning on getting one of these myself.

  • tyler06stephen u can get one at play n trade with a game for 30

  • lol he covers his ugly face

  • Neo Geo pocket was linkable to the Sega Dream Cast. That's what that port is for.

  • Great review....well said and your points and descriptions are made clear, but you say the word ' which ' to much though =b

  • snk r priks. they cant come up w/ any original ideas so they copy capcom all the time

  • yes......yes they do

  • i saw this at gamers thats bran new and i was going to by it. it was 30 dollors, very rare, all i see on ebay are jpn imports. ITS MY MONEY MOM.*dick*

  • man this brings back good memories

  • @KBoy515 PSP CFW BRINGS THAT MEMORIES WITH A NEW TASTE!!!

  • No wonder the opening title screen music sounded so familiar. It comes out in NeoGeoBattle Coliseum when you use Yuki and Ai to do a assault attack. It plays that same music for a sec during the action. *when you pause the game, you can hear it clearly* Nice review there. There are a couple of stores here that still sell it but a bit expensive. How much did you get yours for?

  • how much you want for that handheld? ill give you $50 if you include the games you got.

  • hey bro , what kind of sub battery do I need to pick up for this , I just got a pocket and it has no sub battery

  • Comment removed

  • i thought your middle name was kafka oh well

    P.S. great review

  • I heared SNk vs Capcom was good for this handheld.

  • You heard right

  • bought one of those when they first came out. came with sonic the hedgehog haha

  • I found a Neo Geo Pocket B/W for $20! And it looks just fine...

  • Considering how far after the actual Neo Geo this little guy was (and yes, I'm old enough to remember both the original, and this little guy's failure), it's sad that it wasn't a more faithful reproduction. If it had the same (general) button configuration, and the same (general) games, all the while advertised something to the effect of "remember being afraid to ask mom for the $700 console? Not pick up the same thing, only portable, for $200."

    It'd have sold like crazy.

    Shame.

  • Metal Slug!

  • Best handheld joystick EVER!

  • thanks 2 ur colorful mini neo-geo,we saw ur face and i noticed the fact u have a vid camera >:)

  • i had a neo geo pocket color it was so cool and i was so sad when someone stole T.T i had the same color to. it came with 6 games

  • yeah i like this system; i will have to get one now; decent review.. bit robust

  • should I get this or gba?

  • I'd recommend a Game Boy Advance SP.

  • get gameboy advance, the gameplay is way better like its awesome. and gba has 32 bits.

  • yes, the port can be hooked up to the serial port on the back of a dreamcast.

  • love the t-shirt :)

  • you can hook it up to a dreamcast!

  • really? what could you do with that? play neo geo pocket games in it? I guess it's not that much surprising, given the homebrew possibilities with the DC

  • Dude, that shit is not expensive.

  • Your NGPC is amazing, thanks for the video dude.

  • it locks like the gameboy advance;-)

    cool.

  • I have a new-geo I bought from sharper image.

  • wondering... what was the battery life like?

  • you mean the neo-geo pocket color?

I heard it was very long compared to the gameboy color, it had a battery life of 30-40 hours on 2 AA batteries.

  • i am surprised this handheld did not take off well im america. i would have waited in line to buy one but i was the at age of 6 at the time

  • ahh the old days before youtube got fucked up

  • That extra jack is used to hook up the handheld to systems that supported it like the Dreamcast.

  • that jack you dont know what it does might possibly be a DC port

  • i have one

  • this is,indeed,ONE of the best old systems, and just because it is old,it doesn't mean it wasn't fun at all. This brings me back a lot a memories lol

  • I want one, Those older game systems rule!!! Great review...don't ever let anyone tell you anything about what you like there are alot of jealous people trying to kill our fun...maybe they should try it they just might like it...Take care

  • I got mine (a clear-color model) two weeks ago, and it came with 10 games: Sonic Pocket Adventure Samurai Showdown 2 Metal Slug 1st Mission Pac-Man (no joke!) Dark Arms Dive Alert Fatal Fury F-Contact King of Fighters R2 Neo Turf Masters Puzzle Link 2 Overall, it was a good deal, and the NGPC is a great little system. (It's my favorite non-Nintendo handheld that I've played) Now, if only I could get the Capcom vs. SNK games...
  • Baseball Stars Ruled! This was an awesome little system

  • I used to love this thing, I had SNK vs. Capcom: Match of the Milennium, I played it all day, with like all the mini characters, I also had Metal Slug. Had that same Color too, good review man, brings back memories. Now If I can just find it...

  • yes killer app, you seriously haven't heard of metal slug? shame.

  • First off I doubt that you are anywhere near my age. Second off, "killer app" is just a term that refers to a hit title on a platform you could also say "blockbuster". Third off I will take that advice into consideration and as soon as I find out where she lives (probably the same place as you) I will indeed go outside and fuck your mom. Get bent kid.

  • Btw I didn't utter anything, this isn't my video. I typed it. Perhaps you are so much older than me that they didn't have a proper education system, else you would be able to read the name of the actual video uploader. Best of luck in all of your ventures.. at Burger King.

  • Oh I see in your channel you have made quite a few "friends" I don't have 300 people in my channel telling me I'm an asshole so maybe you are the one that needs to go outside yes? added to my ignore list.

  • owned lol

  • That joy stick is what the psp needs.

  • it wont work though. the psp uses an analog joystick, while the neo geo pocket uses a digital joystick with microswitches. the microswitches register movements in 8 ways only, unlike xbox or ps3 joysticks.

  • Well, it's possible to change it into anolog very easily. Really I meant the size and design. I like how it's burried into it, so it doesn't stick out of the handheld.

They also need a right one too. MGSPO was pretty much a hassle with the cam in either setting and the semi auto turning to left and right movements didn't help. They should have utilized the the top down auto camera from MGS1-2.

  • i get what youre saying though. the ngpc joystick funtions really smoothly, while the psp joystick is kinda jerky and too sensitive.

  • Yeah, it's easy to run around, but persice aiming is pretty bad on some games due to it.

  • just done a review myself. check it out

  • The ESRB was established in 1994 by the Entertainment Software Association (formerly Interactive Digital Software Association).[1] For the record. From wikipedia.

  • omg i have one of those!!!

  • I own 1

  • your gb color had pkmn blue in it

  • wow are you some kind of wizard?

  • well i saw it in the gb=D

  • lol he took it out and said "And here is pokemon blue version"

  • no he did not so unLOL

  • lol he said "Like the infamous pokemon" and showed it to the camera :)

  • I just got mine today from eBay and it came with Sonic The Hedgehog Pocket Adventure. It rocks!

  • This is still teh best handheld in my opinion. Gameplay is the best, period.

  • i had the same gameboy color with pokemon silver :D

  • hey man i got mine today from ebay no games yet lol

  • Your lack of investigation takes quality out from your reviews, you should know that SNK wasn't an arcade cabinet company, the Neo Geo was a console that was made to be able to run as an arcade machine, in fact the console used the same cartdriges as the arcades, just in a different configuration. ¿The King of Fighters R?, you didn't even mentioned. BTW you should have tried using an emulator to get a clearer vision of what the actual games look like.

  • that's how all of his "reviews" are. he rarely researches the systems and regularly poses guesses and speculation as fact.

  • how he showed off the games is fine gives you a better feel for it.

  • Cool I just got 2 off EBAY one blue like that and one black with like 6 games, a link cable and power supply all for 80USD. I thought that was a really good price because they don't usually sell for much less for just one system and a game or two!

  • Hey, TolstoyKafkaEvsky, I love your videos, I subscribed and can't wait for more. My question for you is, at the beginning of your video you mentioned that every so often people make swipes for handheld king title. Well, I hear a lot about the iphone and ipod touch lately competing with the PSP. Personally I don't own an apple product and love the PSP but I am hearing that apple has real potential and big companies are looking at them to make games. What do you think is going to happen?

  • That sounds interesting...but Apple has no place in the game market. Microsoft tried that and look at them. Successful? Yeah, but crap. Fun fact for ya, Microsoft lost 4 billion dollars in the creation of the Xbox.

  • lol: "i find most fighting games make me want to tear my hair out"

ngpc isnt for you then! (well obv not, youre a collector!) good vid though, brill system

  • cant wait for mine to arrive. im getting it the same color as this one.

  • This thing was the fuckin' bomb-ass shit back in my day. My cous' had one and he loved it. The real problem back in those days was a matter of marketing and availability. My cous' loved his, the alarm clock rocked, but when it came down to trying to buy games they were a lil more expensive than gameboy and a lot harder to find as wide a range. Gameboy's marketing and strong foot-hold in the industry is what made it outlast.

  • gameboy was the first gameboy system made. not gameboy color. gameboy color was 3rd. do a bit more research. cool pocket color by the way

  • He said nintendos first "color" handheld guy!

  • The games look like Gameboy Advance games XD
