  • "Stealing indigenous lands"?!! Sorry buddy but we did that a long time ago. Sure it was bad but the current generation of natives need to get over it. If it wasn't Western Europe, someone else would have taken it over.

  • @tippmannshooter

Yeah ... great logic. People need to just "get over" colonialism.

Got any more pearls of wisdom for people and problems you clearly can't relate to?

  • pour la France : comité anti olympique annecy

  • Wow and i thought the protesters were unfriendly. Where is the canadian love in these comments </3

  • Your insane, The Olympics were made in Greece and were games of peace time.

During the Olympics no country in Greece was allowed to occupy or be at war with any other.

    Your an idiot inbreed moron.

  • and for everyone who can't take the time to spell properly, you should or people won't know what the hell you're talking about. it's fine to a certain degree, but some people just don't care.

  • @CavsHooligan You really should just shut up.

@good2goski Yes, they are losers, aren't they?

And the Nazis did NOT invent the Olympics the Greeks did. Get your fucking facts straight. These protesters are so stupid. Nothing they can do will make any difference. The Olympics already happened. Deal with it.

  • @SirFred11

The nazis invented a lot of the modern version of the ceremonies, like the torch run.

Everyone who's bothered to read up knows this. You're a presumptuous windbag ain't you?

  • f*ck all you protesters, get jobs, go back to school and get an education so you know what your talking about.

  • This is hilarious! lol

  • haha what a load of shit - get a life you tossers.

  • I'm proud of the people who stood up and protested prior, and during the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.

There were many reasons to be protesting. Wish I could have attended many of them myself.

  • .....Wowo man I love how ppl think its THEIR country just cuz they live there it aint ur country and it aint my country + it isnt even the Goverments fukin country so I suggest they think rite and wen it comes to the olyimpic games they think about evryone and their needs not just themsleves and their so called fukin needs (aka THEIR FUKIN WANTS)

  • Okay, can I ask you one thing ? What did the government do? Most of the countries do come together and play the games they play. The government does nothing, but give us the money to do the special events. What are you mad that the government is giving the Olympics to much moeny? Yeah ,and another thing. I'm also 14, and I spell perfectly fine. And it's short FORM.

  • ....im not exaclty one tho .........btw y did u say quote--"I wouldn;t have done what you guys did"..........I didnt do anythin okaii im just a random 14 year old teen tat is learnin about our history nd being taught to express how I feel about things and THE OLMYPICS IS A GOOD WAY 2 START CUZ IT HAS SO MANY BAD THINGS TO IT okaii.......Like the Olympics is supposed to be fun and joinin the countries to chalenge eachother but..ITS THE GOVERMENT TAT RUINS IT by givin us all this crap!

  • btw im talkin 2 u Dianablogging

  • Also the Canada line, Whistler highway, convention centre would have been built regardless of the Olympics. The Olympic village cost will be completed recovered via condo sales. Furthermore the 6 million does not factor in a single penny from private investment, sponsorship, and extra income taxes

  • Ha Nothing can bring down Vancouver after such a great games!!! Fuck u losers Greatest games ever lets do it again. Best thing that has ever happened to Vancouver!!! No one can deny this (At least not anyone with half a brain.) Please leave our great city you deadbeat protesters.

  • To bad losers. The Olympics were a huge success, the vast majority of Canadians embraced the games your feeble minority was and will be largely ignored. Your causes are a joke your positions idiotic. Later losers.

  • uneducated huh? lol your pathetic! your a poor excuse of what society is becoming these days.... self absorbed idiot who has been brainwashed into conformity, fashion and all that materialistic bullshyt!!

  • What happened to the protestors exactly? Why did they pack it in so quickly? I thought they were going to 'shut down the Olympics' so that no other city would want to have them?

    What gives?

  • I personally thought this video was great! It shows what no one else sees and it represents the great population who know the deficits that hosting the olympics brings.

  • the fact that they don't mention this in the media is disgusting!! people before profit!!!!!!

  • proves how ignorant you are to the world...... if these people are nobodies i dont know what that makes you, i would say a little fuckin slave to the system! not educating yourself to the real ISSUES!!

  • exactly! you depend on the very system that makes you rich, wealth is an illusion..... it doesnt give you real values! pathetic movement? lol maybe so but thats not your fault you are canadian and americans you guys don't know how to fuck shyt up like people do in europe! The "real world" only serves a system which takes money from your pockets and into the hands of multinationals and greedy capitalists!!! that is not the world i chose to be a part of, FUCK THAT!! SMASH CAPITALISM!!! (A)

  • nah thats not what i said, you want to give lessons? learn how to read,i said that in europe people would fuck the system up bad....i dont give a fuck about your houses, you may have cars, jewelries now but when you are dead all that is gone.... buy!consume! you are nothing more then an indispensable product with a bar code stuck in the matrix, fuck materialism! we hate capitalism bcause of what it's done to people in the 3rd world, environment, we are not failures if we chose to not live by it!!

  • @SilverNrGy985

Actually, most modern European countries are socialist and have MORE government control than the US or Canada. So once again your arguement is wrong.

You are very incoherant with what yousay. So you would rather be in say Spain with 20% unemployment? How exactly do the people there "fuck the system up bad". Capitalism doesn't screw the 3rd world, lack of intellect does. If it weren't for capitalism you would still be shitting outdoors and using fire to heat your hut.

  • Socialism is a revisionist idea based off of real marxism, and no Socialism has nothing to do with my basic statement of fuckin shyt up!! i'm talking about the people at the bottom who are willing to go against the system because of the oppressive state they are being put in...anti globalization movement, anti capitalists, anarchists, black blocs, workers, etc. But see this is where you are wrong

  • Capitalism is the problem! in africa it has been a major problem because of their corrupt leaders who take money rather then help their own country flourish, in some parts of south america they've destroyed amazon forests, the environment, they've thrown out the indigenous people out of their own land which has been taken over by multinationals and private companies ,China has many factories that pollute the air and end up killing their own citizens because the air is not safe to breathe...

  • not true at all! just look at Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, etc these are people that have had college education and have different views of our society and the system as a whole. The reason for my english is because this is the internet and i'm trying to compress certain words on here and i don't give a fuck about grammar on here! that's besides the point!

  • @SilverNrGy985 Fine don't live by Capitalism, so what the fuck are still doing here, get the fuck out of my great country you drain on society.

  • i'm not in your fuckin country !! and even if i were i would have the right to be there expressing freedom of speech just like anyone else....

  • Energy is more wisely invested into visions we desire, instead of resisting what we do not desire.

  • Olympic Hockey > You

  • The Olympics were held in NAZI Germany because they had the money facilities to host the games. It's not a facking conspiracy. Not to mention that was 1936. Get your heads out of your asses and realize this is 2010 and times have changed dramatically.

  • fuck you! and fuck your KKKanada

  • Ahhhh such a big cry from such a little guy

  • Another problem, youa ll dress like Commercial drie hippies! I like that look, BUT the people you are trying to get through to will NOT take you seriously like this. You might like it, but it's true, If you wanna make change you need to get inside the GOVERNMENT and work for companies like BC HOUSING. The people who work there care more than you do and try hard to influence change from the bottom up. These are the real HEROS!

  • You know I'm all for the causes that most protestors of the games stand up for, BUT you are ALL ALL terribly disorangized. You'll never get anywhere. I went and observed the protest before the opening ceremonies in Vancouver and it was embarassing.

  • Anyone have any opinion about the so-called "occupation of Britannia"?

  • Thanks, but if you would have stayed in school, work hard and got a career in politics and become President of the United States. Maybe then you can outlawed the Olympics.

  • What?

  • OK, so I saw a poster today, it said "DEMO AGAINST THE OCCUPATION OF BRITANNIA.... THURS FEB 25 3:30... GRANDVIEW PARK... Communities Not Cops!" The drawing on the poster is of a cop covered in logos of olympic sponsors.

I know that Britannia School's ice rink is currently being used for Olympic hockey practice, but "occupation"? Really? Has the demo's organizer (there is no website or group mentioned on the poster) polled the school kids to see if they want to kick out their hockey heroes?

  • Germany might've introduced the "torch relay" but Greece is the place where the Olympics started some B.C. ago and they did it naked. But whatever...

  • SparwoodApple, I see you live on this network so you are probably an olympic expert. I have to work to pay my taxes so athletes, welfare bums and basically lazy people are supported by my hard earned dollars. I would expect you fit into one of those groups.

5 billion dollars on games. MRI's, urban poverty, native issues, name it and 5 billion could have done it. Not games for the privledged few.

Next time you come to a brain fight bring one....

  • Comment removed

  • Thats true, Whistler gets 2,000,000 visitors annually so that hwy would have been built anyways.

  • Comment removed

  • @reece5412 I pay no taxes? perhaps you would explain where the $26,000 in income taxesI paid in 2009 went since according to you they did not go to the gov? 5 Billion? actually the Canada line, Convention Centre, Whistler highway, along with other small projects were going to be built regardless of the Olympics. Furthermore Conventions and activities along the sea to sky corridor are money makes for us - Not increasing the capacity of these facilities will actually cost money not save.

  • Only a few benefit? So only 2 people built these projects? – What about the thousands who built them and maintain them? My bud who is a NDT made $100K year with minimal overtime on the Canada line. According to my calculations he paid $40,000 in income and sales tax / year – times this by several thousands (give or take in income). Still have not factored a single penny in in-direct taxation. I also havn’t factored in a penny sponsorship money and revenue generated by the games themselves.

  • Then again keep living your lie and keep up your dream of those having sucess like us immigrants among others - keep living the lie

  • Combined tax dollars raised from the anti olympic protesters -$325 690.

  • This is how popular the protesters have been. A video in the side bar titled "Winter Olympics 2010 song" alone has more views than the total of the top 20 2010 protester videos.

  • Freedom, when you made your "Good News" announcement, I thought that you were omitting some relevant info, that I have already mentioned. I asked you if that was deliberate. You are saying "no". OK then. That only means that we have different definitions of "relevant info", NOT that I am trying to "expose" you.

Now you're saying that your announcement was "sarcastic".

Didn't pick up on the sarcasm. Looked like a straight up announcement to me.

  • The truth is that at the time I posted the 'good news', I knew that they were old because they were admited in the previous month, but I didn't knew yet that the voting had ended. I found that a little later when I kept with the research. I still believe my comment was very much open about the info I was advetising. There are no special investigations here. The comment was directly about a link I was referring too. By definition, it cannot be found deceiving. The message of the PEA still stands

  • @freedomclubLX

Well according to their website, the "winner" (not IOC) was selected in November, but I'm sure you did not need me to tell you that.

Anyway, like I said before, you and I just have different opinions about what the definition of "relevant information" is. Are we done beating this dead horse yet?

  • I don't know? Are we? You keep asking me questions and telling me that things that I said are 'deceiving', I want to make sure I give a straight answer.

If you are going with a problem of 'definition' without giving any sort of concrete argument, I am not sure what to say.

  • @freedomclubLX

If IOC's nomination of a PEA is relevant to you in any way, please feel free to spread the good news.

For me, the nom is irrelevant. This has nothing to do with you, or how you presented the information.

    Are we done yet?

  • I don't know? Do you have any other question besides 'are we done yet?' What part of 'you are asking questions and I am answering' didn't you understand in my last post? Really, you don't need to answer. I am only giving this response because that question seems acusatory in tone. Otherwise, I have no problems in you having the last word and I would have ended this conversation with your impression on PEA nomination.

  • @freedomclubLX

I have no further questions for you about this topic. Because to me, it is irrelevant. I place zero importance on the nomination. If it is important or relevant to you, then please feel free to spread the news.

  • doesn't the Canadian government pay money to the aboriginals?

  • haha stupid protestors. wait until they see a bunch of cops, than their screwed.

  • @DFrizzleNizzle you used the wrong "than" & the wrong "their"

  • showing a great deal of restraint towards the protestors. You don't see on these protestor videos police clubbing protestors, using sonic weapons, tasers or guns. But you clearly see them handcuffing suspects included in your groups activity, for damaging property or assulting officers, reporters, or innocent members of the general public.

  • cont... or have a direct native ancestry it would be your relatives who helped steal the land from my ancestors. Now if your talking about the police responce to the violence in Vancouver, even the protestors own videos posted here on youtube don't show violence or excessive force used by the police. What you can see however is protestors spiting on police, throwing objects at them, and the horses trying to dislodge officers and injure them. What I see is lines of police in protective gear...

  • Well I'm not sure if its me your refering too in your statement on if I know who or what I am defending, I will respond as if you are.

The police took the land? Is this a reference to the colonization of Canada? Because if so, I think I need to point out to you while the North West Mounted Police may have played a part in the displacement of natives at that time, by far the largest displacement of the natives was directly caused by settlers from Europe. Therefore unless your Native....

  • cont.. has your form of protest produced any form or type of result to change anything for the better. Perhaps rather then standing around with poorly written signs and chanting crap, you could all get off your asses and form some sorta foundation that might produce real results.

  • cont.. bust up all your stuff?? Ohhh wait thats right you and your friends aren't consumers, yet you have a computer in which to make videos and post to youtube, I'll go ahead and assume you eat even if its only tofo and sprouts, you drive right, or maybe bike. How to you get all these items? Do you steal them?? Or perhaps in your utopia they just fall from the sky or shoot out of your friends asses.

Social problems should be addressed, but at no time in history anyplace on the planet

  • Cont.. for two reasons and one of the main ones is directly related to the violent actions of your own groups and the ORN. Do you really expect the police and the public in general to just sit back and allow your group of misfits to destroy property and valdalize innocent peoples cars and do nothing? Your group claims valdalism isn't violence..really?? Thats an interesting view point, if thats the case you'd have no problems then if 50 or so people come to your house and smash your windows and

  • So one of you protestors convince me..why should we share your point of view? You claim capitalism and fascism go hand in hand and that anyone with national pride is a nazi. It seems to me that the only people here employing nazi tactics are the protestors themselves, Hitlers rise to power started with his mis-informed youth groups smashing windows of the store fronts of innocent jews. Humm sounds kinda simular to ORN tactics to me. You claim a police state, the police are only out in force

  • The police didnt use force when they took the land? Do you know what or who you're defending?

  • Red white and blue ! I don't think so there 777 , I'm Canadian and pround of it. National pride? You bet! A nationalist? No way! I've seen what nationalization can do ie Hitler.

Would I wack those adults breaking windows in downtown Vancouver with a billyclub a few times? Most likely! Would I break bones or kill babies? Of course not you f… ing idot.

  • Spar, the "no olympics on stolen native land" people do not recognize the chiefs and band councils as legitimate leaders of the Four Host First Nations. Also, they claim the chiefs were either duped into the olympics, or that they sold out.

I wonder if the majority of the Squamish, Lilwat, Musqeam, and Tseilwatuth Nations find their cheifs/councils to be illegitamite, and if so, what steps they have taken to replace their current political system?

  • So what is the deal with ATMs? Assuming that the anti-consumerist uses money, and even if their life savings was stuffed into their mattress, would they boycott a cheque or direct deposit that went through a bank? Or is it just the ATM that would be boycotted, not the bank?

  • The ironic thing is that these use the slogan " no profits from stolen native land" Ironic as many of the protesters are living and profiting from stolen native land. Furthermore a friend of mine brought up a point. They not once sought all native support for their protest, but rather sought out the few who their views are in alignment with and declared that their views as consensus among all Natives. They are piggy backing of the Native issues for their own agenda.

  • So what's wrong with ipods? Personally I think they are a pretty good invention. They are rechargeable so don't consume batteries. You put downloaded music on them, which is better than records, cassettes, and CDs which end up in landfills. They are tiny, and can pack in loads of songs. So in my opinion, they get an A+ for reducing environmental waste.

So what is the preferred portable music technology for the anti-consumerist? Or is portable music boycotted?

  • you think whats happening to your precious little downtown shopping centers is bad? those shopping centers are good for two things only:

    1. your cheese burgers, ipods, and atm machines

    2. making some mother fucker more money than he needs to continue raping the earth of resources and raping humans and animals for their labor and blood.

fuck vancouver for allowing the olympics to happen on "their" soil. fuck vancouvites who do not join the fight in the resistance of the fascism of capitalism.

  • I don't like the police presence any more than you do. Bin Ladin kinda screwed that up for us with his 911. Oh that's right that was not Al Qadia flying those plans into the twin towers , it was CIA agents in the big government conspiracy to give reason for Americans to invade Iraqu

  • They wouldn't have to spend a billion dollars to Police this thing if you dumb asses would just stay home and let the rest of us enjoy. All the different nations of the world come together in friendly competition. If the athletes and thier countries can leave thier politics aside for 2 weeks out of every four years. Well then so can you.

  • @gearbow in your world, you can make the decision to be a grown man, armed with weapons, and attack a kid thats destroying some windows. sure. beat them with sticks, break their bones..

that with your military background would probably place you in the ranks of plenty of other baby-killer mother fuckers that don't deserve to walk the same earth as the kids that are fighting the monster you chose to defend. so despicable, you patriot/nationalists are nazis with red white and blue masks on.

  • That guy brings up a good point though. He showed his true colours. They don't care about homeless or affordable houseing, or even Native lands. All there against is Globalization and Capitalism, or even democracy for that matter.

  • What with the other guy calling you a consumerist? What, he doesn't consume? Is he dolphin boy that lives in the warm pacific waters off the coast of BC lol.

  • @gearbow

i guess you could call it an ad hominem attack, buuuut fuck it. "consumerist" seems to be rather relevant characteristic to anyone who would get so offended by these protests and their participants.

  • I gave this a 5 star for the video editing. You a film student or you can buy the software?

  • wow... at the comment below me. the consumerists are getting angry haha!! i'm glad these protests get such rise out of you, you'll be seeing a lot more of them in the near future...

  • @Vertsk8er419 well not really a rise out of me....but I would get HARD seeing afew of you getting ass kicked by the police

  • Comment removed

  • Also, when I said that IOC's nom on the Public Eye Awards site was basically ORN info on a different site, is that wrong? What other references (besides NO2010) are provided at the end of the nomination text?

  • Again, I invited the people to take a direct look into the information that you are now revealing as exposing me somehow. So, I don't see how I could have been dishonest. I announced the sarcastic 'good news' with a link, not with a misinterpretation of the info on the link.

I also don't understand why you insist that IOC didn't win. They were submited to a Jury. They were selected. They were made a nominee among 5 or 6.

It is very much relevant. Think of the oscars...

  • Freedom, let me stress that you said "Good News"! when you announced IOC's nom for the Public Eye Awards. "News" for most people means current. You were actually referring to an expired contest that IOC, nominated by ORN, didn't "win".

Why make people google the "Good News"! to find out these relevant details?

  • Hopefully these commentors here supported the summer Games Olympic torch relay the same as Vancouver Games.

The Olympics are a matter of national pride and these professional "protestors" don't stand for anything. I pay no mind whatsoever to them.

However those who hypocritically resented the Beijing Olympics hopefully now have a better idea of what it feels like. Politcs and sport don't mix, especially when those political views are issued by thrust upon us by biased news agencies.

  • I hope it makes you cunts feel real righteous when you stop people from seeing the Olympic torch all over Canada, i hope you felt like heroes when you prevented wounded soldiers and WW2 veterans from seeing the torch in Vancouver, We should be extremely proud of this Olympics and stand behind our athletes 100% and cheer them on. the natives have been shown a tremendous amount of respect in the opening ceremonies of the games.

  • If you're against the Olympics, you're against Canada!! You're against having pride in your community, and you're a neo fascist with too much time on your hands!! Olympic Pride people!! Have some fucking pride in our athletes and community!! It is not a sham, rather it is a once in a lifetime miracle. Stop complaining you whiners, or I'll suggest to the cops the best way to deal with protestors, a 50 cal military machine gun!!

  • Also Freedom, don't you think your initial post about the public eye awards was intentionally misleading? Imagine if I came on here recycling old outdated information such as "Alex Bilodeau may win a gold medal". The public eye awards are over, IOC did not "win", ORN was not able to muster up enough votes for them, even with their wild version of facts. I guess there are more evil corporations tan IOC. Ones that facilitate organ theft in Chinese prisoners, or dump toxic waste for example.

  • You are talking as if the Public Eye was a forum where individuals and/or organizations such as the ORN came to post grievances. Please check the criteria for inclusion/nomination and the curriculum of the people involved. You can start you research from the website.

Now, how can I be misleading about the IOC nomination when I am inviting people to go to the page where the information is readily available? Did you do some special research? Do you believe that you have exposed me somehow?

  • I don't know what you mean by saying that I should research the public eye awards, beyond looking at their website. Where else should I research it? Is their website lacking some crucial info that I am missing? How can you be sure that the info about IOC was not only referencing ORN & NO2010 "propaganda" when those are the only 2 references mentioned in the body of the nomination text?

  • @Jakeb575

    What?

  • Why on Earth do you throw "We call on all anti-capitalist, Indigenous, housing rights, labour, migrant justice, environmental, anti-war, community-loving, anti-poverty, civil libertarian, and anti colonial " all together? How can civil libertarians be of the same mind as anti-capitalists?

  • I personally believe in challenging and questioning the norm, BUT don't go destroying properties. Now the government need to spend more (tax) money on security, repairing, and managing these protests. Economy is bad enough. Putting more money into something that won't generate more money is non-efficient. Be more creative in having your voice heard. Consider all the dreams of people that thrive for a gold medal you'll ruin. For some, winning a gold medal is a way out of poverty.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHA wow....if you beleive this garbage you have some serious mommy-daddy issues. The olymipcs are discuised as a sporting event? Wow....morons...get a life

  • @SaggitaDeathray

Why should we dream of destruction? Why should we strive for forming new nation? Where will it be? Who will live in it? Who will be left behind? Do you advocate that it be formed by the use of violence? Sorry for so many questions but I don't really understand what you're saying.

  • @freedomclubLX, The public eye awards have already completed and IOC didn't "win" the award. Interestingly enough, the IOC's nomination came from ...drum roll... ORN.

The "facts" written in IOC's profile on the public eye awards' site reference ORN & NO2010 as references. So basically it is just ORN info on a different website.

  • I know that. I have the 'internets' too. However, it is not true that the info provided by the Public Eye is just ORN propaganda on a new mask. Do some research on the Public Eye Awards and the people involved. The IOC was nomitated with merit.

  • I'm not one for being against freedom of speech.. but if your protests didn't work and the games are already here, what's the point? You may have valid points and valid issues, but you're also encouraging the idiot protesters to follow you blindly, and start throwing things through windows...

I wasn't for or against the games... but in my opinion... they're here.... get over it...

  • I want this corrupt system to fall asleep, It has only a conscious action to eat and destroy..

We all need to dream above this bullshit. Dream of it's destruction. Dream of a rebelling nation thats not co-dependant with these people that dont know how to change the world and only know how to wash there sins away so it rains on us another day.

I SAY, Rain rain go away, come again some other day.

  • The Olympics have received 100% approval from the First Nations Governments of Canada. What ARE you protesting? What do the games have to do with the tar sands? Some people just protest ANYTHING, and the public is getting bored and sick of it.

  • When you're old enough to vote maybe you'll realise that the government in power won't necessarily give a flying crap whether you approve of them or not, even if you wore out a pair of shoes campaigning for them. Get a clue already.

  • I'm 61, thank-you very much, and I feel very sorry for you. Protest all you want, no one cares any more. :) The whole act has become trivial and inconvenient for everyone else. I'm a proud Canadian and plan to continue with it!! You should try it!

  • Hey! Good news, everybody. The International Olympic Committee was nominated for the 2010 Public Eye Awards. Just google: 'IOC Public Eye Awards' for their profile nomination. The Public Eye Awards seeks to select the nastiest corporate players every year.

  • Never heard of it

  • To all the protesters..GET A FUCKIN JOB!!

  • Reply to pnoyboy604...GROW A FUCKIN BRAIN!!!

  • LOL! ur probably one of those crackhead protesters lookin to get his next fix huh? fuckin loser! wat do you protesters accomplish by breaking fuckin windows?

  • When I said grow a fuckin brain I meant GROW! A! FUCKIN! BRAIN! YOU! USELESS! PILE! OF! SHITE!

  • stay gold pony, or ill golden shower you

  • @GeoliphicMedia:

"the world was all over China when they 'cleaned up' for the olympics why can't we do the same when its a western nation?"

The world was "all over" China for what specific topics? I Not that I am doubt you, I'm sure they must have done some nasty stuff. I remember reading a story that said that they were reportedly rounding up the cats of Bejing and killing them before the Olympics. Poor kitties.

  • @GeoliphicMedia:

"Even if you disagree with somebodies actions, if they are causing harm you must address why they feel they must"

Have the protesters addressed how the people of Vancouver feel? Even if they disagree with their actions?

  • @GeoliphicMedia:

"watch the footage out there again, none of the 'kids in black' were arrested but people with signs"

Why should it matter what the arrested people were wearing? The cops aren't fashion police. My guess is that they got arrested because they did something illegal? Hopefully we'll find out the details in the course of time.

  • @ Dehzee: If you admit that the majority of Vancouver citizens want to enjoy the olympic festivities without the disruption of protesters, don't you think that maybe the protesters should just stop? When you speak of the city being "trumped by greedy whims of a small cabal" isn't that description more applicable to the handful of wannabe rioters that ruined the chances of peaceful protesters to be heard?

  • Wow, there is free speech and then there is stupidity. So many bad propaganda points i don't even know where to start! I was hoping for decent open debatable ideas, but it's not even close. Correlation does not always equal causation, learn that and it puts this video to shame. I pity you guys who can't see the Olympics as a whole and have to chip away at the little things.

  • Fuck you, protesters. Go out and actually help society instead of going around fucking things up.

Hell, I bet it's cheaper to shove a 10 cent bullet in your cranium and throw you in a landfill than it is to keep you around.

  • I feel as if you people are idiots. The police being paid to stop you from bothering the olympics is costing about 1 billion dollars, a chunk of cash that you people complain about (being spent on MARKETING...NOPE!) is being spent on you. Stop being freaking annoying, and let the rest of us enjoy the olympics in peace.

  • i love you. someone who finally agrees. The money that is used to repair damaged city property by the protesters COULD ALSO be used to help the poor maybe? And nice propoganda. too bad it only worked for what.. 1000 people? that protested and got owned in the streets of downtown? good job protesters keep up the retarded effort

  • Action: Gordon Campbell & VANOC throw a

$8,000,000,000 party for the rich and send the bill to the citizens of BC

Reaction: (most citizens) "Thanks, Gordie. We love a party"

  • @IsraeliFighter "For the rich"? I guess that depends on what your definition of "rich" is. I have gone to a few events, and taken in a lot of the party events and so have a lot of my friends. I don't know if I would categorize myself as "rich".

As far as the protesters, a lot of them are unemployed, and a lot of them are not even from here. In other words; PEOPLE WHO DON'T PAY TAXES HERE ANYWAY.

  • A vibrant movement? Your movement is a pathetic ploy for attention. You have no respect from over 99% of the population because of the tatics you use. Get constructive not destructive!

  • when did I ever say I supported the cuts made to MY education and MY healthcare, or any other provincial program? But anyways, we're beyond the point of no reutrn now, so put up and shut up. (By the way, it's still about the athletes for me, they do deserve our respect even if you don't think so because of the olympics)

  • Canada is being exploited by the Olympics. They will take and give nothing back, but hey you bought it. Just like expo 86.

  • @IsraeliFighter

OMG do u know how much money the olympics comunity gives to the country thats hosting the olympics

  • For some people, this will be the only olympics that they'll ever get to witness. To go out and ruin it for everyone is so shameful and embarrassing. Our policemen are wasting their time with these damn protestors instead of actually protecting the people. Talk about wasting tax dollars...hypocrites. On behalf of Canada...I'd like to apologize to all the visitors.

  • i'm from vancouver and have noticed one thing about the people that protest versus the people that support the olympics.... the "no" people are poor and dress like drug addicted degenerates and the "yes" people have money and jobs and PAY MORE TAXES. we also had a VOTE and the yes people won by a landslide..... you lost.

  • thats it hate on the 'poor' because they have no representation ... money won't buy elections when we take our media back from the 'rich'

  • I watched this because I really want to understand what justifies violence on the streets of Vancouver... but I'm still stumped. Stolen native lands? Maybe, but I live in Canada because every land my forefathers ever lived in got 'stolen' by someone else. That's the way this world works. Get over it. Poverty, homelessness, etc... My city has that and we will never host the Olympics. Hitler? Puh-leeze... So what if the Germans introduced an element? It was a good idea, just like the VW beetle.

  • watch the footage out there again, none of the 'kids in black' were arrested but people with signs were.

even if you disagree with somebodies actions, if they are causing harm you must address why they feel they must.

the world was all over China when they 'cleaned up' for the olympics why can't we do the same when its a western nation? the IOC is acting like they are the gov of canada

  • Comment removed

  • Hasn't anyone ever heard the cardinal rule that if you bring in Hitler you have already lost the debate.

  • why? because you want to forget it happened?

  • Its really too bad the no olympic message is so bland, so untargeted and so uninspiring. Its like you randomly picked things: stolen land, displacing the poor, big spending, corporate profiteering. Take away the olympics and you have still got these things in Canada, and around the world. It was nothing for olympic security to fuel a riot, crush it, pit protesters against the athletes and discredit the whole cause.

  • I've no problem with athletes competing in Athens every 4 years, or at a chosen permanent venue. I do have a problem when homelessness & child poverty in my province & city are trumped by greedy whims of a small cabal of slick developers who have suckered your majority who want to enjoy the festivities.

We now officially know, thanks to the UBC's Sauder school of business, that the Games will provide no lasting economic benefit to the city. None, just like every other recent Olympic fiasco.-

  • Also "No olympics, on stolen native land." Unless your Indian, you LIVE on "stolen native land."

  • Lame. Germany won the 1936 Olympic BID in 1931, TWO YEARS before the Nazi's came into power, so your intro is along the lines of propaganda, especially when you dub audio from a Nazi rally over the olympic video. If you have a problem with the Olympics, try asking your officals to NOT BID on hosting. Seems like your group is the one who wants to purposely oppress others by promoting violence.

  • @Deacon21--

Good to hear that you are looking for the truth. If I were you, I'd dig a little deeper than this video though.

There are many chapters to this complicated story called Vancouver 2010 Olympics. The latest one: protesters have lost the fight. You see, they decided to take an APEC/WTO style protest, and vent their anger not to Bush/Suharto, but to CROWDS OF CITIZENS. Bad tactical planning.

Anyways, always keep up your search for the truth-- it really is a lifelong journey. :)

  • the truth will come out it will just take time....take a look at some of my videos ...just trying to do my part in spreading the truth

  • join the facebook group against this minority.

    its called:

    citizens against the anti-olympic committee

  • @lancemiller777

Care to explain what you mean by that?
