  • Just watched this again and it's great.I said below that i have it on Edison NT and was mistaken,it was "Liza" by B.A. Rolfe.I do have the George Olsen version of "Mona".

  • Real Nice clip from the period of the greatest music.I have "Mona" on here off an Edison needle type by B.A. Rolfe.

  • gilbert godfried??????

  • Brilliant. Could that dancer be Al "Rubberlegs" Norman?

  • Absolutely brilliant voice! Wow, just wow!

  • Richardson appeared in a number of Wm. Fox musicals during this period. He figures prominently in this musical, as does Dixie Lee, J. Harold Murrey (another distinguished serious singer) Janet Gaynor/Charles Farrell, and many more. Richardson also plays a role in antoher Fox musical that was produced by B.G. de Sylva, that features the song "Turn on the Heat" He dropped out of sight in the late '30's.

  • Good God! What a voice!

  • my god i love it!

  • I love this, can we get a cd of his songs?

  • Are you sure that's not Gilbert Gottfried singing?? LOL

  • Really enjoyable.Seemed like such happy times.

  • I have the Victor 78 of George Olson doing "Mona" (Bob Rice vocal) and the flip side is "I'm on a Diet of Love" (Ethel Shutta vocal)

  • The vocal on the Victor recording of Mona is by Fran Frey and is great!

  • Yes, the George Olsen version is GREAT !

  • I jsut think that it's so lucky that we have clips like these to look at and cheer us up!

  • Who is the dancer at the end of the number ? Just fantastic

  • Most likely Tom Patricola

  • Wow...what a wonderful, danceable tune...i play it 3-4 times a day...(my 20's high). Frank Richardson had a great voice..did he sing solely with George Olsons band? Thanx for this...loved it. jvb

  • No, he was also a star of the early talkies.

  • Is he Frankie Vali before there were Four Seasons?

  • Thanks for this.I have 78s by "Columbia Photo Players"and thought it had a US sound.I know Ambrose also recorded this in 1930.

  • I like the 'Leslie Stuart-esque' minstrel backing!. He belts this one out good and proper!. Love the band build up and the dancing.

  • So wonderful to see this excellent rendering of a well-known 20's song, thank you very much!

  • Another old 78 tune comes to life!Straight to favourites!

  • What a snappy tune and a great voice! I love this early style.

  • I am sure Ambrose recorded this great tune?Do you know of any bands that did it?
