You need a verry good camera for filming fast via's like this since then you can pause the video and read the roadnumbers but if your camera sucks, GOODLUCK :)
Somebody help me understand why it's necessary to have an engine on each end... Is it really more cots effective than running an engine around at the terminal or having a coach cab car?
@2011Maynard Normally a VIA train in the corridor has only a single locomotive at the head end. Second units are usually dispatched when loads require it like the ten car train in this video, or to reposition equipment. VIA often runs the longer LRC trains with a locomotive at each end, a holdover from the era when they had matching LRC locomotive. Nowadays they also run alot of J-trains with a mid-train loco as the consist will be split en route with two trains going to separate destinations.
No. Usually VIA doesn't. This is most likely two trains in one, and they will be split somewhere along the way. Because it's on the Kingston Sub, one may be going to Ottawa, and the other to Montreal. Can't say for sure.
We need to take a page out of VIA's books here in the states, those guys know how to run a passenger train.

i like how the ditch lights don't flash like the american counterparts, why do some flash, others do not, and others only have a center light?

That e-bell was irritating, mechanical crossing bells are better!

The split trains would have the second engine in the middle, not double ended.
