He was a badly cloned version of the original snake and because there was some flaw in the cloning, he was aging abnormally.

Old Snake(cloned one) doesn't die in the end, the original snake stops him from killing himself.

Raiden doesn't die and snake doesn't commit suicide. He dies a few months after mgs4 because his lifespan was meant to be short when he was cloned.

@TyGriffin123456789 There are two more cut scenes after the one when he puts the gun in his mouth. At the end, it just tells you that Snake has only a little bit of time to live his life at peace. He has been given freedom to live the rest of the few days he's been given as just a normal human being, so technically yes he does die in a way, but it doesn't show it.

he lives past the end of MGS4 but dies about a month later from old age. but he did as his father told him to while he was alive, he lived, he lived without fighting, for the first time he could put down the guns and rest. He got his happy ending before he died, he was a Hero just like Big Boss and The Boss.

The songs fit well for both of the games. Gears of War has always used a song that makes it seem like there's no salvation left. Mad World by Gary Jules and How It Ends by DeVotchka have both given the image through the videos and music that there isn't any salvation and everything could end. Peace.

Even though I hate sony, I will miss MGS 4...hopefully for 360 someday...a man can dream...really sad after following these characters for so long to see them all get for the most part dead, heartbroken, dying. I thought this video was the most appropriate visual representation of the DeVotchKa song I've seen thus far--"Everything is Illuminated" is mediocre, GoW2 trailer is ridiculous.

The splicing of scenes from the wedding and the graveyard is well paced; Kojima could take a note from this music video.

The game's concluding shot of Snake and Big Boss seated is emblazoned upon my mind and I was hoping to see it here, given the title.

I was originally going to end the song with that shot, but I decided that I wanted the video to focus almost entirely on Snake knowing that he will have to die at the end of MGS4 for the sake of everyone else.

By ending with the shot that I did, I was trying to create the sense that it actually didn't end like he thought it would, despite all of the signs pointing to it.
