@Gareththedrummer Any camcorder can get shallow depth of field simply by using the zoom, but the camera has to be quite far away from the subject, and the background has to be even farther. An adapter can give you that look in a limited space environment where you don't have the room to zoom.
If you don't even know what a 35mm adapter does, or if it will work on your camcorder, you probably shouldn't be buying it. Here's a simple way to see if this adapter will work on your camcorder: find the website for the company of the camcorder you have, go to the specifications page, and look for the "filter thread" size. If your camcorder has any type of filter thread, this adapter will work on your camcorder. You might need to get these things called step up rings to use this on your cam.
@Theindependentfilmer im a newb at this whole 35mm adapter thing... so please be nice. but how is this adapter any different than a glorified step up ring that goes from filter threds to a thread system which accepts 35mm camera lens threads?
i have a wide angle lens fro my hdr-cx 100, i wanna get good shallow depth of field tho and the wide angle lens dosent help with that, if i were to get the jag 35 pro with a 35mm lens, wud that still give me a wide angle shot?
shallow dof is meant to be an expression of your creativity...not to be used all the time for every shot...it gets annoying when people use it for every single shot..
@MattFerroFilms dude, you obviously dont have a canon 5D, cause one of the reasons people buy a DSLR is to use the aperture manually( blur out the foreground/background) . A camcorder doesn't have this manual function you to have to buy this 35 mm adapter to blur out the background on subjects. With a DSLR just flip the auto-manual option on your lense and you can play with the aperture all you want.
I will like to ask you if will be possible to make the same effect with a normal camcorder , maybe going a bit far away and make the focus on the object...
oye necesito saber pero en español como armar para que sea de alta calidad por que tengo una camara como la que tienes pero creeme que no hablo ingles y no entiendo y espero que tu por lo menos sepas hablar español ajajaj para que me expliques
If you're interested in seeing what footage looks like using this adapter search ABDavis and look for a short movie called "Open Doors". We used this adapter, a Nkon 50mm lens, a Canon Vixia HG20, and Final Cut Pro.
I shot a short movie in black and white using this same DOF adapter, a 50mm Nikon lens, and a Canon Vixia HG20. It turned out okay for a first project bu from what I've seen nothing compares to a Letus or a Red Rock.
Go scam somewhere else. I'm just giving people their options. Don't sell a product that's outdated and not relevant to todays marketplace. You don't even use your own products. You use the same Canon EOS 5D Mark ii that I suggested consumers buy instead of your junk.... Don't hate me hate change my friend. 35mm adapters days are over. figure out a new product or get a job
I know footage from 5D. Whole idea of using these 35mm lenses is to get close to cine look, but some people dont see this. You see you don't have this deeper sense of estetism in you. I will pray for you buddy...
im wondering if anyone is interested in buying an adapter which i build, i spent over 450 on making it, and in my opinion it can be compared to the redrock and letus DOF adapters, anyone interested?
pm me and i will give you the full list of what comes with it
i am looking to get 300 for it, but am willing to negotiate

This DOF adapter fits any camera, but it's not a one size fits all type thing. You have to find out what your thread size is... google "thread size for cameras" if you need more details.
Depth of Field adapters work on any camera, it's just a principle of optics. the adapter is threaded onto the end of a camcorder lens. JAG35 makes 37mm, 43mm, and 48mm models. If you have larger filter threads like 58mm, you can use simple step-up rings for a couple bucks.
hey Jehu, I have an HV40 and Nikon lenses and i was about to grab a twoneil 35mm adaptor but till i seen your jag35 site i was impressed! Now i was thinking of buying a jag35st but then i seen one of your videos on jag35 pro. which is better and why>? also whats the difference between 5microns through 25microns? thanks
do you need a special mount along with the jag 35 pro. In other words to get a nikon lens on the jag do i need a nikon mount, if i want a minolta lens on the jag do i need a minolta mount. Thanks and if i need a mount how much do they usually cost.
JAG adapters can be ordered with Canon EF and FD, Nikon and Pentax M42. Many other mounts can be adapted using adapter rings found on ebay, you just have to get the ring that converts whatever mount your lens has to whatever mount your JAG has.
can only certain adapters work on hv20 or can ALL work? Would it matter if I used the redrock, letus, brevis adapter? I know those work on dvx and hvx but I'm wondering if it works on hv20.
Yeah any JAG35 should work, you might need step rings if the filter thread on your camera is not 43mm or 37mm which is the sizes that JAGs are offered with.
