Suzuki-sensei played organ at my wedding ceremony here in Japan, where this video was recorded. It was a great honor. The ceremony was more of an organ concert than anything else. He was always a great friend and still is.
Bravo! I now have a new favorite ensemble! Amazingly cohesive, and pristine balance between the instrumentalists and vocal ensemble. As another listener put it, the music 'springs to life from the page.' I can't imagine Bach wanting it any other way! Anyone assuming Bach to have been less than emotional in his writing should take a serious listen to this ensemble!
Forgot to say what an incredibly humble man Suzuki is, I noticed this in an interview I saw in 2000. Very similar to Bach, he produces the Music for the glory of God, thats the primary aim.
Every CD BCJ produce is something special, how many ensembles can say the same?
Very devotional Bach, as opposed to the theatricality of say Gardiner. Both equally valid interpretations. I am lucky to be able to afford both cycles.

Utterly wonderful! Such a virile, full bodied sound, beautifully recorded: a little touch of heaven on earth.

Masaaki Suzuki came in France (at last !) this winter ! What a joy !
He was wonderful in Bach Cantatas.
The Motets have a very elogious critism in Diapason this month (april 2010) page 79. Long live to him ^^

This very nicely shows Suzuki's Big Heart. He really loves Bach, to present him So Well!!!! And kudos to the singers and the orchestra!
