  • To be in Disneyland with a suit and a night dress... what a crappy time!

  • why cant i just open the refrigerator

  • Then some decades later, we realized petroleum based plastics were not such a good idea after all :P

  • lol one for irradiated food. Gotta love america.

  • I saw the house of the future in Epcot Center several years ago, it really wasn't all that much different from what was around at the time,1996.

  • BORINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

  • MMMMM... "irradiated foods"!

  • Omg I went in that when I was a kid, good thing it did not catch on fire with so much plastic in it. But if it had caught on fire,I'm sure If I duck and cover I would have been fine.

  • 2:11 Lol.........erection.

  • why dont they call it CAncer the silent killer, no wonder 7 out of 10 people in the world die of cancer thanks monsanto for the gmo seeds and food

  • People have been dreaming of flying cars for decades, we learned a while back that they are impractical and not to expect them for a long time

  • They Went In a Completely Different Direction.‡©‡

  • Hel...Hello.... Jane do you have me on that damn speaker phone again. Take me off speaker or I'm hanging up. I always feel like here is a group of people in the room laughing at me when someone puts me on speaker phone.

  • ultrasonic waves my ass

  • No need to guess who's room this is *shows kitchen*

  • Comment removed

  • The real house of the future will be made of .... livin flesh.

  • @TaterGumfries ith Lady Gaga as the missus!

  • I'm pretty sure this whole house was made just to advertise, you guessed it, plastic.

  • Washing dishes by ultrasonic waves. lol.

  • that house must have superconductors otherwise the electric company bill would be astronomical

  • I added this to my 'Disney Favorites' playlist (come check it out!). This is such a cool piece of Disney nostalgia.

  • Wow it's Monsanto before they turned to the dark side and began suing farmers for having their genetically modified plants, whose seeds Monsanto could have easily dropped there.

I think I've never seen this attraction because plastic degrades in the sun. I wonder how soon that became a problem :D

5:21 The refrigerators in the future are called "cold zones" because they don't refrigerate very well. Also, I can't imagine opening and closing a fridge taking that long and requiring electricity.

  • I wonder if this house still stands

  • @MrSponge1985 No, they tore it down around 1967 or so...but it was really well built, and wrecking balls just bounced off it.

  • Lol

  • Back when men were men. Women were women. I love how the wife fantasizes about working in the kitchen. No woman is like that these days. : (

  • Thanks god we know now what Monsanto really is... We do, right?

  • irradiated food? Oo 5:45

  • I just LOVE the "irradiated foods" brainwashing at 5:50.

  • hold the phone

    did he say irradiated food

  • well the future isnt what it use to be!

  • The revolution of the house of the future is that all the quality workmanship has been replaced with illegal aliens, and all the real wood has been replaced with carcinogenic particle board from China. A good stiff wind and they fall over. Some revolution. I'll take the home built 100 years ago. It will still be standing in another 100 years. The ones built today won't last 20 years before they are falling apart, or spontaniously combust from the sub-par Chinese materials.

  • @edwardschlosser1

Go talk your trash on a forum you fag

    nobody cares

  • @The11colek The truth hurts, doesn't it? New homes are built of particle board from China. They are just sawdust and carcinogenic glue. There is no workmanship because all the illegals they hire couldn't care less what kind of junk they built. It's just slap up the piece of crap and get it sold before it falls down. Now all that is left is a bunch of poorly constructed, over-priced, tacky McMansions that nobody wants. Homes of 100 years ago were built of real lumber and brick by Americans.

  • 7:16 He forgot to include 'the acting'

  • Call me strange, but I'd prefer something with real wood... real glass... a place that actually feels like a home!

  • I'm still waiting for hover cars and moving sidewalks.

  • Gee, science sure is swell!

  • "design and science combined for the utmost in convenience and food preservation"--haha, soooo monsanto

  • any one know where the house is now or is it torn down

  • am surprised they forgot the remote o.o

  • I was in that house as a child, I later heard that the demolition story was made up. And that it was air lifted by two helicopters and taken to Lake Arrowhead Ca. and belongs to a retired Monsanto executive.

  • @michaelpriest I think you are right because the house is featured in a Time Life Science book that I have from around 1970 or so and they made no mention of it being torn down only that the cantelevered wings had only sunk 1/8 of an inch in ten years of it being built.

  • It looks like a trailer home.

  • Wouldn't it melt?

  • I bet their first power bill was insane!

  • At least they got the part about everyone eating crappy microwaved food off of plastic plates right...

  • WHAT!!!! no xbox live? This house will suck

  • Monsanto = Control

  • The kitchen of the future reminds me of ikea

  • Haha, I remember when microwaves were the "ovens of the future." But as useful as they are today, they really never got past being the "food and beverage re-heaters of the future."

  • so when the motor that lowers the "cool zone" burns out, your screwed until the repair guy comes. I think that's why they kept the manually opening doors

  • 9:13 lol stereo

    how quaint

  • Comment removed

  • Any time someone comes up with an idea of "the future ____", it just comes out incredibly goofy and impractical. Who would want to live in a home like that?! Not many, I'll bet.

  • So it s today land for us right,

  • irradiated food????

  • 8:45 LMFAO!!!!

  • i love it how the girl at 5:52 is now in her 70s

  • plastic EVERYTHING!!!

  • plastic EVERYTHING

  • Food irradiation is still a common practice, everyone. I'm sure we've all had irradiated foods of some sort (tropical fruit, anyone?). That is by far the least worrisome part of this video

  • It's already the future and there is still no flying car in my driveway !

  • @agwhitaker I think that the government is holding it back for sake of oil industry... =/

    sad but possibly true

  • Gee, so sorry I missed out on being irradiated, microwaved, and ultrasounded everyday in my own kitchen, while I ate off of and slept on toxic plastic materials! Some dream house! I guess eating your genetically modified food, and drinking your human growth hormoned milk will have to do! NOT! Every DOG has it's day and your is coming up!

  • @VictoriaofSommerset Hi,.Happy new year(tad late) Tell us more of what you know.toxic plastic?humane growth hormoned milk?even i know theres some crazy sh!t going down(getting ready for the take down)so,,its a duty to one huamne to another(if you know something) to bring it.

  • Did they also make that plastic thing that passes for cheese in McDonalds hamburgers?

  • irradiated, not because of the impending nuclear apocalypse, but as a convenient storage area for your Monsanto enhanced foods

  • PLASTIC?? it'll never catch on..

  • "One zone for regular refridgeration." Okay, that nice.

"One for frozen." Of course! Then I can have Ice Cream!

"And one for irradiated food." Wait...what?

  • when i microwave my plates that are made of plastic they melt and there supposed to be microwavable dishes

  • holy shit that house has a termostat!

  • I'll let Spider-Man eat the irradiated food, thanks.

  • High fidelity stereophonic equipment!

  • Glad those future women are so submissive. Can you believe it, push button phones.

  • is that the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago at 2:08? Wow, i would've loved to see that. That whole back area is a lagoon now.

  • they be huffing PVC... LOL

  • damn i glad the future aint like that, natural and recycled thing are the way to go

  • "Highest Rated Comments" as of 12/13/10, 21:30:00 PT. XxSTICH666xX = 31 and MrNiceSpaces = 33 (see all comments). Yet this YT site shows noxure=7 and penitent2401 = 6 as the highest rated. Why is that?

  • irradiated food?

  • MONSANTO: o_O Scary-ass corporate villains nowadays...

  • that is one slow frige by the time that frige open i would starve to death

  • Looks like this house of future, from the past, was made out of junk yard pieces of today.... someone should have warned thsoe people about the use of plastic for everything.. This dueches didn't give a darn about the enivronment.

  • Yes... Yes.. Plastics for everything everywhere! Because in the future we say "F the environment"

  • why do I have 33 thumbs up but am not a "Highest Rated Comments?"

    am I not plastic enough?

  • well, at least it isn't asbestos...

  • You had me at "Vinyl wiring coating"!

  • @allpainppd

Wow, in the future I can have the scent of salty sea air. Lol

  • Plastic SUCKS!!!

  • Hilarious!! The background music is too funny! Those folding doors were used on the jupiter 2 in Lost in Space

  • i don't get this whole future shit. if they could make it for the then present to show what the future would 'look' like, couldn't they just make it then???? O_o

  • What's irradiated food?

  • @fbmarz

You, the stuff they grew in 50's irradiated farms...

  • I still have a plastic wife

  • "i coulfd make dinner....me and my impossibly asmall waist! (come with the house and contructs of heteronormativity)

tough durable material for the young man of the house but since only women belong in the house hell never know! :)

  • WTF... look like a nightmare.

  • No HAL900 unit installed?

  • This video is just begging to be riffed by RiffTrax

  • QUE LINDA ERAn las mujeres ante, usaban vestido.

  • Wow if you look at this video and compare it to today 2010 we havent really made a huge difference. I mean these people were thinking of hover cars and stuff like that and we still dont have that. We pretty much have the same types of houses as those ones when we should be living in super smart houses. I bet by like 2050 well just be a little bit more advanced than now but not too advanced. Especially how the economy and stuff is today we're advancing way to slow in life.

  • Lmao 'Cold Zones'. If everything today was made of plastic like it was there, all the oil would of ran out by now :)

  • Lmao 'Cold Zones' .

  • BTW, anyone else find it depressing that the "houses of today" that they showed (which were build no later than 1967 (when the House of the Future closed)) look exactly the same as the houses of 2010? I want neighborhoods full of ridiculous plastic houses, godammit!

  • I want to transmit the scent of roses with the touch of a button! It's 2010 and the best we have are fucking Glade Plug-ins.

I also think it's funny that whenever a futuristic kitchen is presented (Back to the Future 2, this house, etc.) they always show these elaborate drop-down automated cabinets. I think it's pretty safe to say even 100 years from now we'll have good ol' cupboards to store our food.

  • @copyright1982 I think AirWick stuff can transmit scents with a touch of button

  • @copyright1982 You are wrong, my friend! It's futuristic to have cabinets disappear and...take up as much space somewhere else, so...you need twice the space! And can't see what's in them. The future!!!

  • Capitalist Retro futurist propaganda during the 1950s.

  • wow so it took 50 years to get these (futuristic things)

  • Reminds me of a pre war setting from fallout 3

  • Plastic.

  • fuck that company

  • That whole house is recyclable.

  • fallout: coming near you

  • I love how everything is made of plastic and they still light up at the end of the part. They must've not known what nicotine does to plastic.

  • Wow.....This is amazing to see their future predictions...... Where did you possibly find this footage???!!!!

  • Geez, it looks like a deformed marshmellow, and not to mention it's highly disfunctional. =-|

  • if a house was made out of cheap plastic these days, it would probably be a kid's playhouse out in the yard! It would be like 50 bucks

  • Plastic dogs...

  • About the kids here chuckling for the "irradiation". We've been constantly irradiating our foods when we cook them since prehistoric times, we usually call it "heat". Do'h. (scientifically it is known as "thermal radiation")

  • So much obsession on "man made materials"... It is so interesting this extremist pendulum effect in our humanity: From seeking an absolutist "human made" techno-craze to "100% organic" naturalistic obsession. Are we ever gonna learn to be balanced and harmonic?

  • So clean, so orderly, so plastic. The future is always more disturbing in hindsight.

  • I'm loving the Monsanto hate here.

Jail everyone involved in Monsanto and redistribute their assets to third world countries.

  • I sure hope that plastic is biodegradable.

  • cold zone is awesome

  • "This is a old clip"??? I hope English isn't your first language!

  • go in hell fckng evil

  • Where is our dishwasher with ultrasonic waves, Monsanto? Too busy lying, stealing and poisoning the world?

  • @noxure And no Ipod's.

  • @noxure This was the first step in that endeavor. Oh, plastics...

  • In the future everyone is so smiling .

But wait do they provide with Monsanto food too ;-))

  • damn im living in the past.. gotta get me one of them cold zones

  • Thanks a lot for sharing macmouse4 ...love frm India .

  • houses out of plastic? you know how easy it's going to be to break into a house now? lmao X D

  • dam it woman, get me a space beer from the COLD ZONE!

    just a second dear...

    zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

    any minute now

    zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • Only the best for little Jimmy a plastic and fiberglass bed.

  • The houses they have then are the same way the houses we have now look. There is no difference on the outside. Most of the things inside houses are just minor upgrades to things that were invented back then. I mean yes it's a lot better and would have looked awesome to them, but in reality they are just upgrades, not new things mostly. TV, Stove, Microwave, Washer & Dryer, etc...it was all invented by then. The thing I think they wouldve liked were iPods and computers, especially internet

  • You would be shit out of luck scrounging for food in that kitchen if the power went out. And spices in huge dispensers like that just say spider eggs to me. I notice the woman having to puse every few moments to be sure the latches catch. I do like the separate pod for the kids however, Junior and Babs can kill each other in private.

  • ahhh the good o'le days... when you had kids set the table, wife stays home, and that yummy irradiated food. lol

  • Plastic? Why would anyone in any generation care so much about plastic?

  • @NinjaMuffinMaster becasue its durable and lasts long

  • In the future, things are made of plastic and stuff happens when you push buttons.

  • There's actually nothing wrong with irradiated food. People confuse irradiated for radioactive. You expose the food to gamma rays which kills the bacteria and then you turn the gamma rays off. No radiation is left behind. Gamma rays are just photons, and photons don't like to stick around. It would be a lot better than any other methods of sterilization, but people are unfortunately ignorant and don't want to associate with anything radiation or nuclear, even though they use radiation to see.

  • Only good concept seemed to be ultrasonic dishwasher... I want one!! I still wouldn't like to eat from palstic plates or drink tea in plastic mug....in our home we have already central air re-use system from witch you can control home temperature humidity, and get energy from using outgoing heat...

  • The good wife staying at home and cooking dinner, I hope that will came back into the future. women make me a sandwich...

  • Esa cocina es mucho mas moderna que la mia de ahora

  • I wonder what they would have thought if they found out that I had just watched this on my metal iPod?

  • what about their hair didnt they know that they can straight it ,not until 1965 anyways.

the narrator sounds like ryan secreast would not even gonna try his voice acting

  • electrically lowered shelves?...microwaves that raise out of the counter?...cmon...

  • I had read about this house.. never saw this video.. looked kind of cool. What I remember reading about about was how hard it was to destroy this thing when it was closed.. the plastic walls had to be taken apart with chainsaw.

  • and one zone for irradiated foods. Man these fuckers sure know how to keep their slaves in line. Everything I ever wanted. Irradiated foods, plastic dishs. Plastic walls with foam insulation. Im living high on the hog man!

  • I like the stripper poles in the kitchen

  • @johnwilson25 I love living like a slave. God bless mansantos. OOOOOOooo OO OOOOOO Oo

  • Comment removed

  • @Novaltia and Monsantos GMO food.

  • Why on earth would anyone want to live in a house made of plastic?

  • i have plastic dishes.....lol

you know that fridge thing would be a pain in the but if something got stuck or brokenand it wouldn't comedown lol

i know its supposed to be houseo f the future but it looks like a travel trailer to me lol

  • we kinda have that crane thing except if we want out house to smell like something, we get febreeze or scented candles.

  • monsanto the evil corperation

  • Everything is so neat!

  • it takes 7 secs for a fridge to open... but i want my pizza NOW.

  • @penitent2401 Lmao!!

  • @penitent2401 ikr

  • hmm Plastic and 50's electronics, sounds like a fire hazard waiting to happen.

  • @MalkavianMadness 1 fuckup and your plastic shit hole is dripping lava

  • Irradiated foods? o_0

  • @AlaricxMalgraith

You're stupid. Irradiated not equal to radioactive.

  • PLASTIC-- This film was produced with the help of MONSANTO... The Monsanto company was a major manufacturer of plastics in the 50s.

  • she left the fridge open!!!

  • So if everything was plastic lol i hate to be in a windy ass storm or a hurricane

  • some of the things we did actually end up having, like the central air and heat, though having a scent in the room would've been cool. and i love the kitchen idea, more counter space! and the phone came about as well. and the built in home entertainment system. so some things were logical. i like this house. wish we had figured out the sonic waves

  • OMG!! I have to invest in plastic! I hope im not too late!

  • Isn't Monsanto wonderful?

  • They also made a movie about plastics and oil and mentioned that without oil a lady won't have her cosmetics. Of course they only joked about running out of oil because back then we didn't think we'd have that problem.

  • Actually Tesla said sometime in the late 1800's that we must stop using oil because it is dirty and non renewable. I don't remember the exact quote but basically that it's it. It's the same then as now. There are people who know what's right but Many more who don't, and they don't admit it until it's too late.

  • Oh my god, it's full of ..., not stars, no - idiots.
