Look guys, I'm not the perfect father but I will tell you that after acquiring a degree in psychology and serving my country as a US Marine, I do have some knowledge on how to control my daughter's behavior. Sorry to say but I do believe in spanking but I have only done it once or twice on one of my 9 kids. My daughter that is on this video is now 5 yrs and has turned out to be a very good girl to say the least. I understand that every one is entitled to their own opinions and I respect that ;-)

Put buttermilk or prune juice in a little toy water gun, aim (discreetly so they dont see you as the source of betrayal lol) at their open howling mouths, like at the carnival state fair booths. Just the shock and disgust on their face..priceless, likely causing a retreat-flee reflex. Once out of earshot YOU can howl- with laughter! We adults dont realize how frustrating it is for them when theyre starting to learn language yet cant form words to share needs. they feel our expectation ,want to please us and relay info.Lacking proper speech leads to the infantile distress calls that get results!They are smart and eager to share observations,questions,fears. Spanking a child will not teach them anything but violence. I would not call it a punishment either, instead I would say there are consequences to your actions and children need to learn that at a young age. Use other forms such as time outs or taking away a special toy

Hey cupcake1283, I totally agree with you 100%. I was spanked when I was a kid and it didn't do me any harm. Kids need to know when they've crossed the line. And saying "oh please don't do that darling" has no authority at all. I learned respect at an early age, and if cupcake1283 wants to instil that at an early age she should be applauded and not slagged off.

i dont think you should be super easy like hug and kiss them when there mad. but u should never whip or spank ur child. i would tap their bottom so they know they did something wrong. but i wouldnt go any further. i would just put them in "time out"

Word. I tried swimmerchic's approach...trying that made my kid into a demanding brat! It's good to teach kids that they don't get their way all the time ...outside of food, shelter, and the basics. Instant gradification is not a good thing to teach a child.

lol oh yes and if your child is a male it will kick you in the knees and run away and scream louder. As a parent I know one thing is for sure, you cannot just make your child better by hugging and kissing, they NEED structure and discipline. Dont believe me? Take a couple parenting courses. You need to calm the child down, maybe give her a hug and a kiss and tell her everything is alright. If that doesn't help, then maybe take her outside or take her her for a walk. My mom used to take me into her car and drive me around. That used to sooth me. Maybe try that as well.
