Fanny used to be a popular girls name in England too, Fanny Hill, Fanny from Jane Austen's Mansfeild Park, untill it came to mean vagina. No one in her country would find her name funny at all. But her french exchange partner sure did, we all laughed, when she told us what her french girl was called. LOL
