But WoW was a lot harder back on 2005, in fact, that's the year of the hardest contest on the history of WoW. The game became so much casual oriented now days, it's just not fun anymore.
The game was 90% Exploring (and PVPing with the enemy faction) and 10% Raiding. That's how it should be. Soooo many memories back then when I was exploring the big world. Now, its just fly there, teleport there. Not the same.
I encourage anyone who's feeling the nostalgia to check out therebirth(dot)net... it's a 1.12 vanilla server that strives to be as close to the original vanilla wow as possible... don't be turned off by the crappiness of most private servers, there are no instant levels, donations, vote rewards, free gear, xp boosts... just pure nostalgia. One of the least buggy private servers you'll find as well, the people running it are amazing. The closest you can get to experiencing what you once loved...
I flew solo a lot in wow. I had about 5 friends in game I would hang out with sometimes but for about the first 30 levels I was left to discover the world on my own. I grew up here, I was a young kid in 05 playing this, it was my childhood. And it was an amazing time. There was a magic to this game I have never felt in any other game, and it sad to say I might not ever feel it again.

I remember the craziness of Barrens Chat. I remember first running off to Wailing Caverns. I remember the million times an Alliance group raided Crossroads just for kicks....Oh God the memories.
Raided Ratchet back in the day with like 15 alliance. I was about level 25 at the time, dying lots. Remember we had this one mage, named Caution level 41 I think, who was blowing up everyone in front of him. Thought he was a total bad ass at the time lol.

Ah, Barrens chat, i remember a time with the combined effort of all the players in the zone, we managed to recite most of Return of the Jedi, including stage direction. I was laughing so hard i accidently engaged one of the alliance raids that were happening at any given time throughout the day at X-roads. not cross roads, X-MOFUCKING-ROADS.
We all grew up in the Barrens :)...some memories: running for hours and hours. killing centaur and pigman, meet and rescue first belf at northwatch hold, lots more running, Wailing caverns (great dungeon), oases, crossroads under attack, and the awesome barrens chat....r.i.p.
Guys, I know how you feel about Cata, but I love it. I still like the old music it's just that, You gotta move on now and experience new stuff about WoW. They can't make it be Vanilla forever. They gotta make it more exciting. If you hate it, why do you play it? Just quit or go on a PS if you hate Cata.

@TrollChatroulette I wouldn say that. The whole wow empire is designed with love and many detaills. After all, you just can miss something thats already gone. Like they will miss cataclsym when the new addon is being released ;-)
I remember when I first started WoW on the trial version before my fiance bought it for me. First character was a tauren druid...got her to 20 out here in the barrens and couldn't go any further til I bought the game. I would roam about and enjoy being a horned lion out in the barrens...kill raptors...skin em...do quests...I loved it. I always prefer going to Barrens other than ghostlands...but not anymore...I miss the old barrens...I even miss the crossroads getting attacked all the time...
@VesperBloodwing yeah mate i agree, such a shame that was is so dead these days they killed org and all the other great places and i also cant believe allies have bases in the barrens. These memories are priceless from those times, really sad they can never come back :(
this was an amazing zone of my wow experience, the surroundings, music, quests really made me feel apart of the horde for some reason, probably because i battled for the horde in crossroads :) good memories
When you would set out from Crossroads for your next quest, it was always an epic moment. It would probably take you 10 minutes just to walk there. And be careful not to stray off the road, there are level 23 lightning beasts that will kill you before you know what happened!
i remember the raids the allys did on x-roads, but after bc came out, it all kind of died out, same with the horde on goldshire, after every expansion it all died slowly now you don't see anybody raiding there anymore. well the only time you see them do it is when they go to kill the faction leaders for the achievement but now they can just fly over it :(

I remember when me and my sis started playing together she was like 7 and i was 12 we saw all the people making chuck norris jokes so my sis yells out hey everyone did you the chuck norris is dora the explorers dad and then for 2 hours my sis sat there debating with some random people about it. wotlk stabbed wow and cata came and finished the job, R.I.P. Barrens you are and always be missed greatly.
Oh jeeze I remember running around here on my orc in 05 with my troll friend, we were noobs back then and it was like 5 weeks into the expansion. I remember we met his brother (who was seriously no life to the hardcore max ) server first level 40. Just seeing that raptor mount and noticing he had shoulderpads, ugh we were so jealous!
@CraftyPanda92 My god, shoulderpads! I remember those used to be so rare that I found a set of white shoulderpads (no stats, just armor) you could equip at like level 15 and I would trade them around to all my characters so they had something for that slot while leveling.
Wow-one(dot)com is a lvl 60 private server. zg-aq40 raids, ALL blizzlike scripted, over 2.4k players and working honor system :) Its a great private server if you miss classic wow. I dont know for wow-one or anything, but maybe some of you are like me, and want to go back and raid and wipe hard in BWL/AQ40. Naxx will be released soon, as the staff have worked on their naxx script for many many months. Give it a try, you wont regret it!!
oh those xroads raids.... lvl 40 guards became raid bosses when the highest player was 35 and those horde gankers would kill everyone while i hid in the farm and tried to regroup...oh man those were the days, it seemed wow was less competive back then, no kids saying u bad and no pvp gear , just a game that looked like lord of the rings

you know many things in life have their first time and that first time is imposible to forget ... well we all have experianced the first time in World of Warcraft .. im not sure you all will like what im about to say but .. there is a feeling for that game - when you hear a music from the past .. remembering how you walk around this world.. get killed from players 10 levels above you.. killing others.. envy someone for having better items... but the real feeling about that great game is LOVE!

i totaly agree with u , it's the time of "classic" WoW , when every1 was lveling and then u saw some1 on an EPIC mount ! WOOOOO , a black war raptor! Wooo! epic was EPIC in WoW classic , now the most epics are worthless after a patch , so , what does it matter u get good gear ? if u have to sell them to a shopkeeper after a new patch ? O.o , i want the time of WoW classic back , when u HAVE to work for gold and gear!

I stopped play wow a couple of months a go, and there is only one thing that makes me change my mind - the original music from Barrens. Amazingly nostalgic ...
