@nadaliae i personally think that it is MIB when he was young kinda thing, and hes afraid of his former self since there is good in him.... ctually maybe MIB and Jacob are the same person with two different sides being schitzo or something his young self reminds him of bad him and other is good half... and eventually split.... hence why he is a smoke.... and takes only forms...
