I don't know about having the best possible graphics... do graphical might and processing power increase at the same rate? I'm thinking this because surely a more detailed game is more prone to the likes of slowdown, which would be to the detriment of a game then a less detailed one?
I'm thinking this: how about a game where all the graphics are 16 bit sprites, but it has the modern-day horsepower to let you literally fight hundreds of enemies on-screen at once?
Sort of like what Zelda: Four Swords did, but ramped up even higher. I think there could be a great recipe for chaos and delight.
Japan to my knowledge has never and continues and probably will never legally allow used games, I don't remember the reason why, someone told me once, but it was actually good and I agree with it.
good to see someone who remembers this classic, i done a whole 9,000 word report on this game and also another 9,000 report on a potential sequel.

I know this video is old, but I have to comment on Just Cause 2.
The graphical fidelity is consolized despite being DX10. The texture work is sub-par, the animations are standard, in general it looks a bit ugly.
There's a number of bugs in the game, some even game breaking enough to force you to reload.
And the controls, my god the controls. They're the reason I stopped playing the game. Specifically, when you jump off a building and begin to free fall when trying to grappling hook upward.
@AceStrife I failed a mission 4 times in a row before alt+f4ing, that's how bad that feature is, and you can't turn it off. Nor can you turn off the auto leveling of of the camera for certain things.
It's been a while since I last played, so there's probably more issues I can't remember, but honestly, I would recommend avoiding the game if you cannot deal with control frustrations for certain things.
I unsubed from WoW back in lich king when they released the patch that gave conquest emblems from heroic grinding which made every raid before ulduar pointless as the emblems bought ulduar grade gear which spat in the face of every player who had grinded through naxx and all the other stuff.
Not to mention the fact that I once cleared half the ulduar 25 bosses with a fucking pug run that had people with fucking greens in it.
It was a sad day to see a great game get killed by casualfaggotry...

There you go, you just answered the question of why games must be dumbed down even if it shouldn't matter because they got your money after purchase (as mentioned in a previous "Mailbox"). If a player gets frustrated because the game is too hard or frustrating, they will resell it and thus add to the used games market. This the developer/publishers do not want.

@night4345 yeah but if you buy the pre-owned version (which, tbh who wouldn't as it is cheaper) you aren't buying the new copy of the game. The game stores want to keep their stock levels up and so the more new games that are sold the more that are bought by the store to keep the stock levels up. Pre-owned sales don't count for that as the level of new games isn't lowered hence they don't have to order in more.

Do they not already give a profit from used games to the developer? I mean, when i trade in a new game to Game, i usually get about, 100-200 sek (swedish currency, new games costs about 600 sek for comparison). But then when i'd buy a new used game, it costs around 400-500 sek.
Yes, there are many games where you only have one save file (like Pokémon or every single roguelike ever), but these games all have the option to DELETE that one save file and start anew. If you do not have that option, it's an obvious game flaw and should not be supported.
i find the whole thing about used games idiotic, the person who originally bought it payed for the game, it belongs to them, whatever they do with it or whoever they sell it to is their business, once its bought that game is out of the companies hands

My reply to this about graphics: I personally think the better the looks crisp edges, excellent weapons, spells, etc means the developers care enough to make an effort to push out only the best. I don't want the absolute best. I just want to have something that is pleasant to look at for spending $299.99 on a PS3 console plus $59.99 per game. Maybe that's why I have a shallow eye for games. I have a hard time getting away from this train of thought. I fear testing something new and different.

In your last video, you had level 6 necropolis creatures almost right off the bat, and in this one you have the inferno level 7 maniacs really early on too. I played WoW a while ago, only a trial and at a friends. You could talk to people etc, and was very fun. I never got around to getting it due to money, but I looked at it a few months ago after 3 years... it looks very bad.
I love all of these WoW fanboys threatening to unsubscribe to TB because he trashed it. I first subscribed to TB for his Cata beta footage, but that game has gone to hell, and anyone who would open their eyes would realize that. I've unsubscribed before TB stopped his WoW videos, but now that I quit, I feel much better knowing someone with a lot of common sense has made the same choice.
I hate arguments against used game resellers, outside of pissing me off, it makes games more of a risky investment, which would boil down to less people getting games, and less willing to buy full priced new games because they would never be able to sell/rid of it.
I know I buy more games, new & Used, because I know I can sell them back if I don't enjoy them or if their bugged out to hell or unplayable to me.

@LentekuNFS Steam's a program that is basically a giant online distributor for games. It sells them via credit card payments and you download them directly onto your computer. Steam sales are just sales they have to promote buying games, as you probably could imagine :P

It's just really annoying how TB constantly comments on how easy WoW's raids are when he no longer even does them; his opinions are extremely unbalanced and a lot of times wrong. For instance, he talks all the time about how normal modes need to be more difficult (which in my mind will only further alienate casual players) when he refuses to raid hard modes. He's just one of those people who talks about how great vanilla's difficulty was...

@DarkOctane Well he rather has a harder normal mode so he doesn't have to do the raid twice just to get a difficult experience as opposed to roflstomping through the normal mode. "Casual players" won't care as they will leave later regardless cause they aren't part of the core-subscribers and will leave as soon as the fun stops for them.
@MrLarhf TB doesn't raid either. I don't know if this means he can't or doesn't want to, but the fact is still that he doesn't raid. And don't undersell casuals; a few of my RL friends are casuals and they still like raiding normal modes and such. Casuals are part of the core WoW playerbase, and some even stay subscribed longer because content stays fresh for longer for them.
I would like to point out that the US has a little thing called First-sale doctrine (Bobbs-Merrill Co. v. Straus, 1908) which prevents the original makers of anything from getting money form resales. Since the US is still the biggest market for games any idea MUST take their laws into consideration and licensing is on shaky ground as it is.

Lol I unsubscribed with WoW a couple months ago for the exact reason. Did every thing I wanted to, raid got boring and we got through them in a couple days. No content, no change, so it became incredibly boring.
blizzard currentally thinks that heroic mode is 'all' the content. which is really a stretch as their heroic modes are bland compared to wrath (ulduar). not including the end tier nef, sin etc. but im foreseeing that blizzard will make thier stance 'achievements' are 'all' the content. and its not clear untill you kill heroic modes + get achievement that requires you to jump up and down the whole time

A game copy is bound to your acc, i tried to give a game to a friend and he couldn't use it without my acc so this is the way to stop game re-selling.Piracy can be stopped, for instance there are no SC2 pirate servers, you can only play single player campaign and skirmish vs bots.
the only discrepancy i have with TB's argument about console gamers and their graphics is the point where he brought up Minecraft and Fortresscraft. The reason Fortresscraft hasn't sold that well is because it actually sucks, so that shouldn't reflect on the console gamers. Although i do agree with the rest of his points, and hope to see Minecraft on the 360 do well this November.

You will collect 346 non spirit items from heroics and reputation. You require ilvl 346 before you can even step into the Zandalari dungeons with the LFD tool.

I think the problem is WoW raiding besides the strange moving difficulty curve has become too much of a sort of e-sports thing. Who cares about what your ranking is unlike Sarcraft, CoD, or Battlefield, it does not matter in the least in WoW but people for some reason think it does.

Just Cause 2 gives kind of complicated feeling behind.... There are many boring stuff in it(and I'm sure that TB mentioned this in one of his old videos), but at the same time there's also some very enjoyable things. Same goes with the graphics - part of it sucks, but at the same time I remember some amazing views in JC2.

Do they not already give a profit from used games to the developer? I mean, when i trade in a new game to Game, i usually get about, 100-200 sek (swedish currency, new games costs about 600 sek for comparison). But then when i'd buy a new used game, it costs around 400-500 sek.

Yes, there are many games where you only have one save file (like Pokémon or every single roguelike ever), but these games all have the option to DELETE that one save file and start anew. If you do not have that option, it's an obvious game flaw and should not be supported.

My reply to this about graphics: I personally think the better the looks crisp edges, excellent weapons, spells, etc means the developers care enough to make an effort to push out only the best. I don't want the absolute best. I just want to have something that is pleasant to look at for spending $299.99 on a PS3 console plus $59.99 per game. Maybe that's why I have a shallow eye for games. I have a hard time getting away from this train of thought. I fear testing something new and different.

"Shit's horrible" is a bit hyperbolic on my part, sorry 'bout that, but I do think most other first-person shooters have engines which far eclipse Reach in terms of graphical fidelity. I played WoW a while ago, only a trial and at a friends. You could talk to people etc, and was very fun. I never got around to getting it due to money, but I looked at it a few months ago after 3 years... it looks very bad.

I love all of these WoW fanboys threatening to unsubscribe to TB because he trashed it. I first subscribed to TB for his Cata beta footage, but that game has gone to hell, and anyone who would open their eyes would realize that. I hate arguments against used game resellers, outside of pissing me off, it makes games more of a risky investment, which would boil down to less people getting games, and less willing to buy full priced new games because they would never be able to sell/rid of it.
I know I buy more games, new & Used, because I know I can sell them back if I don't enjoy them or if their bugged out to hell or unplayable to me.

@LentekuNFS Steam's a program that is basically a giant online distributor for games. It sells them via credit card payments and you download them directly onto your computer. Steam sales are just sales they have to promote buying games, as you probably could imagine :P

It's just really annoying how TB constantly comments on how easy WoW's raids are when he no longer even does them; his opinions are extremely unbalanced and a lot of times wrong. For instance, he talks all the time about how normal modes need to be more difficult (which in my mind will only further alienate casual players) when he refuses to raid hard modes. He's just one of those people who talks about how great vanilla's difficulty was...

@DarkOctane Well he rather has a harder normal mode so he doesn't have to do the raid twice just to get a difficult experience as opposed to roflstomping through the normal mode. "Casual players" won't care as they will leave later regardless cause they aren't part of the core-subscribers and will leave as soon as the fun stops for them.

@MrLarhf TB doesn't raid either. I don't know if this means he can't or doesn't want to, but the fact is still that he doesn't raid. And don't undersell casuals; a few of my RL friends are casuals and they still like raiding normal modes and such. Casuals are part of the core WoW playerbase, and some even stay subscribed longer because content stays fresh for longer for them.

I would like to point out that the US has a little thing called First-sale doctrine (Bobbs-Merrill Co. v. Straus, 1908) which prevents the original makers of anything from getting money form resales. Since the US is still the biggest market for games any idea MUST take their laws into consideration and licensing is on shaky ground as it is.

blizzard currentally thinks that heroic mode is 'all' the content. which is really a stretch as their heroic modes are bland compared to wrath (ulduar). not including the end tier nef, sin etc. but im foreseeing that blizzard will make thier stance 'achievements' are 'all' the content. and its not clear untill you kill heroic modes + get achievement that requires you to jump up and down the whole time

There won't be such thing as selling a used game if every game company goes on steam. A game copy is bound to your acc, i tried to give a game to a friend and he couldn't use it without my acc so this is the way to stop game re-selling.Piracy can be stopped, for instance there are no SC2 pirate servers, you can only play single player campaign and skirmish vs bots.

the only discrepancy i have with TB's argument about console gamers and their graphics is the point where he brought up Minecraft and Fortresscraft. The reason Fortresscraft hasn't sold that well is because it actually sucks, so that shouldn't reflect on the console gamers. Although i do agree with the rest of his points, and hope to see Minecraft on the 360 do well this November.

You will collect 346 non spirit items from heroics and reputation. You require ilvl 346 before you can even step into the Zandalari dungeons with the LFD tool.
Raid experience means nothing. People get carried.
I don't think you've grapsed what I've said. I was never calling him a bad player. I said he doesn't have the right to complain about other players being bad when he himself is geared up with completely useless secondary stats because the item is a purple.

Dear TB I can quite well remember you stating some time ago that Blizzard waited with the release of the final WotLK raid in western countries in order to make sure that the eastern servers were in a proper situation to be launched. You specifically said in fact that "it is good that Blizzard does this. It shows that they care for things like world firsts."

I think the problem is WoW raiding besides the strange moving difficulty curve has become too much of a sort of e-sports thing. Who cares about what your ranking is unlike Sarcraft, CoD, or Battlefield, it does not matter in the least in WoW but people for some reason think it does.
You are never going to make money from raiding or get invited to an event unless you are ensidia.

Here's why I may pirate a game:
1. it has no digital distribution
2. it has no free demo
3. it has a stupid DRM system that makes honest buyers suffer more than people who pirate.
When a developer/publisher wants to make a profit on it's product, he has to make sure the customer has:
A. the easiest access to it
B. the easiest way to pay
C. the easiest way to figure out if that's what he really wants to buy
And only then he has the moral right to complain about piracy.

Just Cause 2 gives kind of complicated feeling behind.... There are many boring stuff in it(and I'm sure that TB mentioned this in one of his old videos), but at the same time there's also some very enjoyable things. Same goes with the graphics - part of it sucks, but at the same time I remember some amazing views in JC2.
