I hear a little Jeff Beck in there .........ha !

  • Hi Greg , i listened almost all of your videos , and i can't believe how great guitar player and musician are u , you are my IDOL !!! love u Greg !

  • good stuff, that les paul has dreamy action!

  • @blindmellonchittlen dude take it to as shop. lol u cant trust people on youtube most dont know what theyre talking about i just bought a 1980 les paul custom and payed the guy 2800$cnd so theres a rough estimate

  • I can't stop watching all of your videos..Great Guitars...Inspiring play..Great Tone..

  • The backing track is so cool! Where did you get it from?

  • That. Was.Almost.Sexual.

Btw, the song have a name?

  • @rodrigogrohl

yep , just about needed a smoke after that ......lol !

  • IM OLD GREGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ed2000888 bailey's soft and creamy?

  • When I hear this I think "Gran Turismo 2".

  • When i see your guitars I think: "Oh, man I want to be just like this when I grow up!"

    heh

  • BTW, I love the sound of that Okko Diablo overdrive pedal. I think you get your best tone using that thing.

  • I watch your videos a lot, and I've noticed that the older Les Pauls you have tend to sound noticably-better than your newer ones. Fuller with better midrange. Probably a combination of pickups, woods, and general quality-control. That said, I'm getting killer tone from a Korean-made Dean Evo SS (Swapped stock p/u's for Duncan Seth Lovers). Better sustain and a fuller acoustic tone than the modern, US-made Les Pauls, and those Seth Lovers just make it sing. 1st time I've been happy with my tone.

  • Shit! what a nice pair of Gibsons u got there! What kinda are they and How much did they cost You? thanks very good playing reminds me to Eric Johnson

  • your vid's are mellow ...good for relaxing and sleeping. nice....

  • Great sound!!!!

  • Beautiful guitar, fab sound!

  • is that an ebony fretboard?

  • NICE as always Gregor! If you need another amp in the lineup anytime soon, check me out. at unionjackamps

  • perfect

  • Hi Greg nice playing! Great sound, would you like to sell me this les paul?

    Alex V. Moscow. Russia

  • @VoodooRock6 You can find these on ebay every once in a while. I have the same guitar but the owner before me used it for gigs. So it does not look as pristine as Gregg's but it is the best sounding LP I have ever played.

  • what kinda goldtop is there to the left? 1957? : D

  • @bdraagen my 68 converted to PAFs

  • @GregsGuitars What's the main diff between a 68 pickup and a 59 type?

  • how do you learn to play like that?

  • i cant even begin to express how much you dont need a black beauty for that song, total missuse of a great guitar, use a crappier guitar like a standard

  • hey awesome playing were do you get your backing tracks???

  • @HeroOfTheDay1000 The backing tracks are collected from the web in the years... Sorry, I don't know anymore from wich site. When I find a nice Track I'll store it on my computer and don't make a list with wich track came from wich site... Too many tracks too many sites. I would not even find this track on my computer (1000+ Tracks) Seach for "Blues backing tracks" or "jam tracks" and you will find a lot

  • @GregsGuitars search in this page >> guitarbackingtrack then put 'blues jam' or something like that, ;) keep rolling bro'

  • where do you get such cool backing tracks

  • @RDblues47 The backing tracks are collected from the web in the years... Sorry, I don't know anymore from wich site. When I find a nice Track I'll store it on my computer and don't make a list with wich track came from wich site... Too many tracks too many sites. • I used to have a 1979 Les Paul Custom. It was even black. That was back in the 80's. I ripped the bridge pick up and put in a Seymor Duncan JB in there. I really liked the sound of the JB. I still have the original pick ups if you know anyone who wants them. They are very nice looking.

  • @1971SuperLead

Hey, I'd be interested in those pickups if you still have them, some assbag put EMG's in the 1979 Black Beauty I just bought and I want to restore the sound back to it's former awesomeness as best as I can. How much do you want for em?

  • @someniggahtatgotshot They are on eBay as we speak for around $500. Just search on ebay for 1979 Les Paul Custom pickups.

  • @1971SuperLead LOL I was eying those as I saw your comment on this video, which is awesome by the way. I was just curious if I could maybe find a better deal on some relics like those, but apparently they are ridiculously difficult to find

  • @someniggahtatgotshot Apparently vintage pick ups have gone up in price. I was shocked to see what they are selling for. Myself, I would but in an old Jeff Beck pickup in the bridge and a 59er in the neck slot. Maybe you can solder gold covers on there and no one will notice the difference. Still, that'll cost you too. How badly do you want it to be all original? My original pick ups are aweful sweet. Untouched in over 25 years. Even the wires are uncut.

  • @1971SuperLead Due to bill payments coming up I only have about 400 to spend on pickups after dropping 1600 on the guitar, I was trying to find some around 350, but after looking around I'm thinking it's near impossible just to find some in the first place.

  • @1971SuperLead I'm black and it doesn't offend me, so why should it matter? People are so uptight about things these days, I really don't understand it. But yeah, I'll keep looking around. Good luck to ya man.

  • @someniggahtatgotshot Ya, well, I'm white, I think, and if I said it, I'd be somecrackertatgotshot.

  • @someniggahtatgotshot LOL I think Racism is a kinda pointless taboo cuz we're always gonna have those old fashioned assholes hating on each other for no good reasons, but I still think the gangsta culture us a bunch of bullcrap that is dumbing down our society.

  • Is it the T-rex replica deelay dear to the diablo? Great deelay! Anyway you're great, if you'll play in Italy tell me because I must listen to you live!

  • I like your tone, and my daughter likes your purple pick!

  • @Hifiphil ok... thanks. ...ah.. how old is your daughter...?

  • @GregsGuitars She just turned 9 recently. She's not into guitars too much (believe me, I've tried!), but she likes purple things.

  • @Hifiphil ok... say hello from greg !!

  • I used to own a Black 1979 Custom just like that one. It was too heavy to stand with. All I have is the pick ups now. Near mint condition btw. Now I play a 1975 Gold Top Deluxe. A little lighter and a sweeter tone.

  • a question...what volume is your amp set at? it does sound like a low volume, I know the diabblo drives some of the tone, though the sound is very, very good ! Huge tone. Is it a comfortable volume in your room?I've always found fender amps have to be quite loud for the great tone to come out.

  • @midislseguy It is on low volume (you can talk and understand while playing)

  • I've got a 1996 custom and it's the best guitar I've ever played.

    Great work!

  • sounds like robben ford ....

    keep up the good work!

  • Perfect guitar, this and the 54 gold top and the 1960.

I'm a Les Paul guitars addicted.Hope i get one, Les Paul 1960 is the perfect one for me.

  • is that compression coming from the pedal? man that sounds good...

  • @shotgunwalter no compressor used, but the give gives a little bit (less than other OD Pedals)

  • fuckin great t0ne maan

  • standard pickups?

  • @Flerg3 yes

  • Yep just had sex while listening to this...

  • GET both.. that is like trying to decide which is best, brown hair or blonde... what mood are you in today < ^ :

  • I agree, Mr Les paul is my hero but, a gibson luither named Ted Macarthy is the creator of the modern arch les paul. All Les had to do with it is his suggestion on shape and, he said he wanted the Black beuaty to look like a tux. R.I.P Les...< ^ :

  • Can you make a vid with the "3 humbucked" black beauty? it would be nice comparing these two guitar...

    wonderful playing...*_*

  • Great guitar and great guitarist!

  • hey there, Your Awesomeas! and tahnks for your vids, where you get the backings?

  • @bmf3oh3

    yeah gief pl0x :P

  • i cant frickin decide a gibson sg standard or a fender strat standard

i love both so much but i love the gibson tone alittle bit more

    any advice

  • You can make a Fender sound like Gibson, but you can't make Gibson sound like Fender :)

I would take the sg :)

  • It all depends on what you want. Try both, and then you decide which one feels right for you.

  • I think the fender stratocaster is better if you want to play classic rock, something like Knopfler. But if you want a good hard rock tone to then the sg is better and it plays good classic rock to.

    Just my opinion :)

  • Killer Les Paul. nice playin' !

  • that guitar has a very sexy sound to it

  • This is some funky porno music. Love the guitar. 5 stars.

  • is that the 3 piece maple neck / one piece mahagony body / one piece maple cap LP? i was offered one for 2400 USD recently, do you recommend it for that price? is it better than a new LPC? i hope you saw more than me:)

    thanks,

    sintra

  • Hi, I can recommend that!! 3-piecebody & neck

  • thanks:)

  • .. Thats the guitar i want!!!

Where did you get it?? Ive been asking my parents to buy me one !!! D:

  • sorry, the guitar has been sold

Do you know where i can find the exact same guitar????

  • keep up the great work, and thank you for the reply--

  • Greg, I know your to busy to answer this, but do you perfer the 335 type over the les paul type? because you make them sound simular--just a beautiful sound

  • I could not say that. I love them both...

  • wered u get that goldtop ? does it hav a slash signature on the back ?

  • no sig

  • NICE GREG U PROFESSIONAL!

  • great tone and excellent playing!!!

  • xDD

  • no way! is the goldtop guitar in the corner at 0:24 a original guitar from the 50ties, maybe 59 :D...? if yes, you are one of the luckiest man on earth!!!!

  • it is a 68 with PAFs

  • not bad :D

im havin a les paul custom 89...

  • in 58 goldtops were changed to bursts, weren't they?

  • Mr. Les Paul died today. He made one of the best guitars of all time and revolutionized the recording industry. Les Paul will be sorely missed by all music lovers. Nice playing, Greg!

  • Hey Thomastw374, tnx for sharing your sexual habits with the rest of online population... :-))))

Gregor - you shouldn't say something like this - porn movie makers could steal your music avoiding paying royalties...

BTW, are you doing gigs on regular basis only in Germany?

Is it possible to have you and your band in Zagreb, Croatia? Contact?

  • Hi, shure, we can play in Zagreb, I will send you my e-mal-adress

  • Reminds me of bad porn, in a good way.

  • porn isn't bad in any way....:-) but I can't really say - I newer saw one of those films...

  • sure....lol

  • i own the alpine epiphone. overall its a good value for money. finish is nice. the body is nicely crafted with great tonal capabilities, that however the installed hardware won't give you. the bridge puckup is good. the neck one sucks badly. i have put a p94 on the neck and the guitar has little or difference from my gibbie lp studio. which i paid a lot more expensive. overall it is a good guitar. there is a light humming due to low wire quality but unless youre gonna record it wont be a problem

  • dude i love this guitar

  • Hey Im looking at the Alpine white verison of this guitar from Epiphone, have you played it and do you have an opinion about it?

  • Don't waste your time. The epiphone "customs" have alder tops, as opposed to maple tops like gibsons. Save up and buy something better.

  • Yea but i dont have the money for the gibson custom...and im no pro so i dont need anything thats top of the line

  • Very "Robben Ford-esque" tone ....tasteful

  • I know you are partial to Gibson, Fenders, Epis, Guilds and all their copy cousins but i was wondering if you ever plan to demo some more, shall we say, "out of the mainstream" guitars? Like Rickenbackers, Mosrite, Dan Armstrong, Vox, Danelectro? Also some other types of Gibsons like Firebirds, V's, Explorers. Maybe a G&L or two and of course, some of my personal favs - Gretsch's? Thanks.

  • BB King like sound at the beginning !! Great !

  • This LesPaul Custom is one of my favorite, so beautiful! How does the pickups sound with distortion man?

    Nice playing!

  • they sounding great

  • thats an eye catching goldtop of yours

  • Robben Fordish

  • I like your videos very interesting. I have a 1997 gibson les paul custom black beauty 2 pickups gold hardware. I really wanted to buy a fender pro reverb amp 1968-69 for the tone and sound wise.. warm bright mellow...but I cant find one at all. Is there a reissue fender amp which comes close budjet wise or do you have one to sell of know anyone. I am in switzerland cant find one. From your experience do any reissues come close.

  • Ich habe 2001 und 2002 in der hoehzollernring gewohnt in muenster und gearbeited bei t-systems.... kleine welt.

  • that Twin Reverb is vintage, isn't he?

  • it is a 1969 Fender Vibrolux Reverb

  • HELLO! Mr. Greg, first of all. Congratulations for all your videos, guitars you own and your wonderful playnig. What a feeling and all that. I have a question. I have also a 1979 Les Paul Custom but mine is a "model" I can´t find. Well, it has chorme hardware (pretty normal), Fine Tuning bridge (violin like), Gibson (chrome) tuners unlike the yours and maple neck. Do you have any information about that? I've never found another like my guitar. Greetings from Perú Mr. Greg. Bye

  • sorry, I have not seen that before

  • beautiful les paul, and great playing! i dont think i have ever heard this song covered better

  • dude that is awesome!!!! is that the same model jeff buckley used?

i might be getting a samick, i think its a copy of this one. i cant wait!! i want to play like you!! i only just started to learn though. :-)

  • love your playing!!

  • Hey dude!

    AWESOME playing!

but i still don't know if i should purchase the sunburst custom or the ebony custom!

    please help!!!!

  • buy the better sounding custom... !

  • I realy don't distinguish if it's fake or not, but it sounds brilliant...

    cheers!

  • thanks! but of course it is a genuine 1979 Gibson!

  • of course it is not a fake....!

  • the guitar is no Tokai or anything else but an original 79 Gibson. Rings in black are original, black customs never had cream rings!!

  • whats the year of the other les paul i saw? looks a little beat up

  • 1968

  • les paul price ??

  • 2000€

  • damn u got bags of tone boi

  • Awesome playing!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i like the smile you gave in the end of that video keep rocking bro ! i have gibson slash edition i am new to guitar world :) i only practice on OPEN CHORDS having trouble with BARS can you give any tips ?

  • Thanks! Shure - if you practice open chords (wich is nice indeed) only - you will have problems with other techniques... that's the only tip i can give you. Start with barre chords on the high strings only and increase that to all strings later.

  • practice practice practice :)

  • Hey! I'm relatively new to the guitar world. I used to have trouble with bars as well. In fact, I'm practicing stairway to heaven, which is full of bars. I would suggest looking at your whole hand and not just your fingers. One string maybe muted because you're not holding the string down hard enough, or your hand could be too close to the neck. Hope that helps.

    -Mitch

  • greeat playing!!! hat off!!! ahm, you got two guitars? maybe you can donate the other 1 to the poor, like me.. hahaha

  • because he sells them, it's his job

  • i've had my lp custom for just a little over a year and the gold is wearin out but i plan to just switch em out

  • What audio interface and software are you using to record? Awesome song!

  • my recording setup is quite simple:

I have two singnals: the playback from the computer and the guitaramp, miked with a AKG D-320 B (I don't know if that is a good mikrophon for guitar, I bought it on the flea-market years ago, but it sounds quite good)

The 2 signals are going to a cheap Behringer mixing desk. And a line-out from the mixer goes direct to the camera. The camera is recording everything at the same time. That's it

  • LOL Hair

  • I got this exact guitar!!!!!!!! My videos dont sound as good as his though.
