Thans for sharing!!! i hope you enjoyed a lot your days with your parents and your grandmother... because they're so precious ... i miss my days with my granparents!!!
Happy Chuseok holiday to you and your family! I hope that your granny will be fine. I was checking YouTube for some video from Seoul and find your channel. I like the videos and I find them very interesting and helpful :) I`ll be waiting or more videos about your traditions and more nice views from Seoul.
hey, you are always hard working as ever! Just want to know about you comment on on Koreans travelling overseas during Chuseok as "interesting and funny" . Just want to understand from a Korean perspective what do you mean by that?
@kimchiseoul I said it was interesting and funny because Chuseok is meant to be an opportunity for families to get together and show their ancestors some respect by visiting them and stuff, and that's why Chuseok is a three-day official holiday period. :) And the reason I thought it was funny that many people were going overseas is because they were using this opportunity to actually get away and get some rest - which is very good too :)
I've been noticing lots of stores and restaurants closed just recently, but I'm not sure if it's because of the Chuseok holiday or because of the rain. Maybe both?
9 days!! gosh that is super cool!! we only had 5 days for mexico's 200th anniversary and I didn't want to go back to school today :( .. :P ... It's always nice to watch your vids ;DD really looking forward to the next one!!!!! ;) ^^
@moststupid i feel the same way. thx for the video. wow really 9 day holiday? oh it must be a government conspiracy to get ppl to stop being alcoholics!
@MyYummycookie It's essentially the Korean version of Thanksgiving in America! It usually involves family gathering, going back to the "hometown" and a lot of great traditional foods!
Glad to hear that your Grandmother will be home for the holiday! It's so good to be home and not in a sick place. I wish I had Friday off, but alas... only Monday! Still, I enjoy having the extra time off. Safe travels and Happy Chuseok!
And Happy Holidays! Give your Grandma a big kiss for me! And when she's like "who is that from?" you can say YT is great, you get love from all over the world, or a really really really distant relative in Hong Kong or whatever you want! I hope everyone has a great time. Drive carefully!
One of my FB friends said it's like Thanksgiving. So is it anything like Chinese New Year? You have to see all your relatives who call you by your childhood nicknames like Fei-Fei (Fatty) and Jue-sai (Piglet), eat traditional foods, give little red envelopes of money to your ungrateful junior relatives and sing deafening karaoke deep into the night. And don't forget the key to surviving if you're a gwaipoh (white woman) is memorize popular Chinese songs so you don't need to read while you sing!
So, next video you're going to explain what Chuseok is, right? lol :D (I'd look it up,but I'm too lazy this morning. XD aaand you explain things better.) ^__^
@daewooparts Hello, sugar! It seems like everywhere I go, you've been there first! :D (I mean on YT, but maybe one day I'll visit Gwangjiu.) Can I wish you a happy holiday, too? I hope everyone has a great time. And please drive carefully if you're going to be driving! X's and O's for you. :D
Haha I'm definitely one of the one's the went away for Chuseok - but then again, I have no family in Korea and no Korean ancestors to give offerings to ㅋㅋㅋ
Still it would have been cool to see the traditional ceremony. Ah well I guess I'll just have to drown myself in dim sum while here in Hong Kong ^^
@davecrimi It would be great to be able to show you the ceremony itself but unfortunately my family wouldn't be too comfortable showing it in a video so I'll only be able to show you the foods :)
Aww, that is wonderful that you get to spend time with your family! Best wishes to your grandmother! I'm sure she must be incredibly happy to be home, even if it is only for a couple of days. As we say in Dutch: beterschap voor je oma! :)

Khyrid 1 year ago
@Khyrid Banks are usually always closed on weekends. ^^ You will have to go either on Friday or next Monday :)
ever4one 1 year ago
@ever4one Oh I should have typed better. I didn't mean "weekend". I meant before the Chuseok holiday week (mon-fri) ends.
I'll try on Friday. Thanks :P
