  • It looks like a C and a G but I can't figure out the other chord - Am?

  • I like your version of this song. I'm somewhat of a ukulele beginner - could you possibly tell me the chord sequence for your interpretation of the song?

  • I don't think you can get too much of this song, and you don't hear too many arrangements for the uke. Thanks.

  • Very nice job.

  • Excellent version and you play a mean Uke too

  • Nice job. Ray Charles version is pretty awesome too,

  • Lovely voice. Nearly as good as most of the versions I have heard :-)

  • This sounds gorgeous!! could you write down the chords? ive been looking for them everywhere!!

  • I like all your songs but this is my favorite. You have a pretty voice.

  • love the kind you sing - hot!

"now i`m walking and talking to myself"

when i can perform this song too, i will show you..

    cheers christoph

  • Your version is really nice. Personally I would have mentioned Bessie Smith before Madeleine Peyroux in the description, but it's "de gustibus". ;)

  • Your version was very good, but honestly, if it were terrible I would sit through it just to look at you. Stunning.

  • I <3 U

  • A great old song beautifully,

    thanks for sharing

    Steve

  • can u play "im yours" by jason mraz

  • Enjoyed your version much more than Bessie. Sorry, Bessie, but liked Parkdalian voice quality better. If she were alive today, she would face different scrutiny.

  • nice

  • Beautiful! loving your whole repertoire

  • Fit!

  • beautiful! All of your videos are wonderful!

  • Very very good I hope you are in the music biz.

    Thanks for the tune, Lucky

  • Wow! I LOVE your version of this song!! It's just genius on ukulele. You sound like a 1920's flapper form the Mississippi Delta!!

  • con't Your tempo is just a tad faster, but the shuffle is still there. The uke gives the song an interesting quality. I would really like to play with you! I think shuffle bass and 4:4 uke sound good. Maybe I can vid myself playing with you as a video response, if that is OK with you.

  • @davnkatz Sure, go for it!

  • I'm old enough to be your ... your ... your ... big brother???? heh heh

Anyway, this song has been recorded time-to-time by various artists. It was originally a very slow & bluesy - with a touch of ragtime - ala Odetta and Bessie Smith. I was blown away by the Madeleine Peyroux version. As a "senior", I started taking lessons on upright bass, and the driving beat with shuffle-walk is perfect for me to practice.

  • holy shit, you look familiar. Being a parkdalian, you must be a neighbour of mine. This song is amazing and you do such a great job!

  • Wow. Your version is unique. It's a very nice cover!

  • I live in New Orleans. Born and raised here. I've heard this song played by buskers in the French Quarter probably 100 times, accompanied by guitar, piano, trumpet... you name it. Never the same song twice. The lyrics and tempo are fluid. I can honestly say this performance is as good as any I've ever heard. It's a sad song, but with a hint of gleeful defiance. It's like, "You broke my heart, ruined my life, but that won't stop me from singing." You do a good job with that. Thanks.

  • @Jacuzzitub Wow. Thank you - that is perhaps the best comment ever! I visited New Orleans a couple of years ago, and have been infatuated with the place for most of my life, so to have you say that means a great deal to me! Cheers.

  • Very very good! what a really bluesy sexy voice you have! loved listening to it! on the 15th play! Love it.

  • @Jacuzzitub that's the blues for ya, "I'm on my last leg but damn I'm still standing!"

  • I've seen some good yuke players but DANG!!!! I just subscribed!!! And you have a great voice!!!!

  • One of my favourite songs. Your version is terrific!

  • i've been used to Brownie McGhee 's voice and Sonny Terry ' s harmonica and shoutings . .

your voice fits perfectly with the song !

  • GUAPAAAAAAAAAA

  • fantastic voice. you're smile at the end assured me that everything is going to be alright.
