  • Its like putting out a house fire with your garden hose

  • Let it burn and protect your exposures...not much else you can do with the limited gear you have!!

  • Hose line control is the most important key "almost" anybody can be at the nozzle and put water on the hot stuff he is getting dirty, he's making the nozzle man look good. True story though not enough truck and water for that fire its barely making a dent.

  • Sure is a small handline... could have been put to better use to control the grass fire on the other side, wet it down and maybe it could prevent a bigger brush fire

  • the only thing youre going to do with that line is piss off the fire its goin to laugh at you but do what you can untill the engine arrives haha

  • Shit let it burn...a red line isnt gonna do much and no scba isnt worth your health...gotta say though I wouldve done the same thing. Something about firefighters when we see fire its instinct to put it out!

  • Good effort on the first responders part. Too bad they did not have a bigger rig. Hope nobody got hurt.

  • to all non firefighter's why dont you join the fire dept and show them how you would do it then!!!!!

  • here is where you find all the armchair firemen. The engine was a type 6 unit which generally carries only 200 gallons of water. the hose/nozzle about 35 gpm. This fire at a minimum needed 125 gpm. none of which was readily available. sadly the poor turnout option was the choice of the ff's. since one had full turnouts its safe to assume they all did. its always the firemen who catch hell when something burns down.

  • them firefighters have balls to go near that. gas bottles when they go off can be like rockets or just explode.

  • Any idea what caused the fire?

  • @DonTerhune1200cc class A pusher, rear means an engine fire, middle [yikes] is a propane issue, front...honestly I have not witnessed a class A motor home that burnt from the front, even in a head on crash.

  • @R5H4D0W : After thinking on it for a bit, I got to thinking that it may have been the RV's power generator that caught fire (Due to a carbuerator float getting stuck? gas leak onto hot generator engine or it's hot exhaust manifold/ pipe?) I own a 1977 RV, ... 360 gas engine in front, onan power generator in the rear. I'll never run the generator while the RV is moving.

  • @DonTerhune1200cc I have a Class A gas power motorhome. I was wondering if its a good idea to run the generator while driving.

  • Anybody want's to buy an RV? Hot Smoking deal!

  • using a garden hose to put out a motorhome on fire = FAIL

  • Don't hate on these firefighters!! They're probably volunteers firefighters in a small town that don't get that much action (which probably explain why their turnouts/uniform are clean). So they're excited & freaking out while a lot of things are going through their mind trying to figure out how to put out this fire before the calvary arrives!!

  • This video didn't show the rest of the department showing up with Super Soakers.

  • Excellent restoration project. Low miles, central air, wonderful view from interior. Needs some body work, custom interior. $4500 OBO.

  • Just for you hating on firefighters harleykidd, I'm sad that you weren't in that motorhome

  • How many gardeners does it take to put out a little fire? :-P

  • Are they using a "trash line"??? Wow

  • LET IT BURN IT'S SELF OUT.... The little brush unit that couldn't

  • RV for sale, Nice Paint, strong body, its good year, was drivin by a smoker...

  • If these firefighters know that the hose comes of the sides of their vehicle, why would they park in such a fashion so that they can then wrestle with the hose. Some people just never understand their own equipment. Not very smart people to depend on!

  • That thing was history 10 seconds after the initial flames caught hold of a combustible surface. If you had hit it with a fire extinguisher in the first minute you might have saved the rig. Otherwise, I don't care what the fire dept does, it was toast no matter what.. Still sucks you lost your rig, I hope it was insured...

  • His hose is to small..............!

  • i saw an RV on fire in PA a few years back, it looked a lot like this except they didnt try to put it out, they just had a helicopter soak the trees near the road so it didnt spread, but it was crazy hot i was in a car doing 30 about 20 yards away with the ac on and i just got blasted by the heat from it

  • Unforunately it looks like these guys arent very schooled in firefighting but the truth is you are only seeing about two minutes of this fire. You very rarely see any information on the type of fire department or fire company that responded. Maybe this is all of their resources, maybe they just arent too smart?? An r.v. certainly isnt worth getting killed over.

  • The fire apparatus that responded is what we call a Grass Truck. Its made for small fires and wildland firefighting, mostly grass fires. This department that responded may not have larger apparatus. They may have also been the closest department. By the gear, they are in wildland PPE and not structure gear, so they are most certainly just a wildland firefighting department.

  • why the fuck would you send that out surely you would send a big pumper engine x2 not that the water could barley put out that inferno

  • only in america are the fire engines pickup trucks...

  • @MasterTenku small towns have volunteer fire departments. They don't have the budget to afford major equipment. If there's a severe fire they call neighboring fire departments for help.

  • @jimlasalle I suppose it makes sense, considering America is a bit bigger. In England you are never more than 15 minutes from a firestation

  • ..your toast is done love !!!

  • that motor home was laughing at that garden hose

  • dont be messing with the firefighters man the are in a brush truck with a tiny ass attack line the one at the nozzel had no fire pants and none of them had scba's so drop it alright

  • @2300firefighter Garden HOSE brush line 5/8" or 1/2" by the looks of it at 125 gpm and a 200 gallon tank

small truck big fire wont work Good waiting for the larger pumper trucks

  • weakest attack line ever lol

  • @cmanleyspy yeah, about as effective as if they hit that thing with an Indian tank.

  • get the new motorhome at its hot deal new burnt black 100$ 2day only

  • There comes a certain time - when you simply back off and let it burn - so you'll have less to drag away!!!!!! This is one of those times!!!!!!

  • @Earthlinked you cant just "let it burn" even tho it would make life a whole lot easier.. you have to worry about those little embers starting brush fires.. and it looks pretty dry where they are.

  • @EMT13069 Actually - there are a few myths that we can clean up here!! 1) There are probably no embers - embers USUALLY come from wood - (must burn - then float) not too much wood in a motorhome! 2) USUALLY the paint, carpet, plastic, gas, tires that is the fuel for the fire. Worry MOST about the tires and gas tank!! 3) MOST fires like this - it is better to just let it burn and water down AROUND it and keep the fire contained. Fire will "crawl" away due to the heat at ground level!!!

  • this is just sad... it makes all firefighters look bad when you do stuff like this, these guys are morons first of all you don't take a brush truck to a motor home fire and you don't use a booster line to try and put it out take an engine and pull a line.... second where is the chief's gear... and where are their scba's this is poor work and shameful

  • Just wasting water, it'll be over soon. Complete loss.

  • For Sale: 2006 Motor Home RV. Lovely condition, brand new oven, fridge and interior. A little bit of smoke damage from a small stove fire while cooking pasta, but it's very fixable. Might need a new propane tanks, maybe a few. Haven't used it since May of 2008 and it's nothing useful to us anymore. On sale for $2000. Give us a shout it's a smoking deal!

  • @wwwo100 I know what you said

Yea I think it's in the garage. I'll check for you.

  • whats he doing watering the grass ?

  • Sorry brothers but that little 1" isn't going to do much on a fire of that size. Should've grabbed an Engine instead!

  • cool beans

  • Class A Motorhome for sale: just needs a little TLC, non-smoker.

  • can we say depreciation

  • The mini pumper holds anywhere from 200-300 gallons of water.....The hose line they are using (1inch) has an out put of between 30-50 GPM....This hose/nozzle combo looks like it is at the low end of that.

  • when does that little fire truck run out of water? it isnt hooked p to the city

  • yeah I;m sure they have a staffed station with 15 guys but did not bother! Come on.

it looks like they are in BFE. they showed up with what they had

  • Did any fire trucks come to this RV fire, in any other city you see at least two engines on this type of fire.

  • ok instead of a brush truck fighting that RV Fire there should be at lease three engine companies for the fire

  • @Cand0002 3 engines?

  • how did it get on fire?

  • looks like a great location for a wind farm.

That squirt gun hose wasn't enough to do much more than make a little steam. Did an engine and tanker ever show up?

  • i used to work a rv salvage yard im pretty sure this happens alot would think they would use flame retardent paint on everything thing goin up like crazy

  • with a comment like that you must be a democrat///////////

  • wow....thats kinda funny....they r trying 2 fight an rv fire with a reel mop up hose........and where is that guys PPE?

  • I'm sure more units were in route.

  • sorry about the motorhome.

That thing was burning pretty hot, .....

  • Yea your right. Thats wild land gear. Plus he dosn't even have on any wild land pants! There is no way that booster hose is going to put out that fire. Thats like peeing on a huge camp fire. But maby thats all they had! They should have soaked down the grass aside the camper to keep from haveing any spreding. It could have turned into a big brush fire, then that wild land gear would have come in handy!!

  • sorry buddy but i would ge some people together and discuss with the city about expanding funds and manpower for the fire dept this is a small brush patrol light mini pumpers. that water was no way gonna do anything if he could hold that thing up with one hand it was like a garden hose. plus the guy attacking the fire was not even wearing the proper safety gear he wa wearing a brush coat and even vehicle fires we use full structure gear.

  • The howling wind pushed that fire quickly.

    My sympathies on your loss.

  • The water had no effect.

  • There was nothing the other firefighter could do. They only have one hose on that Light Attack Truck.

Nobody was probably at the station that is certified to drive an engine or they would have most likely taken an engine and knocked it out in 2 mins or so.

  • damn dude
