i know why tim curry, susan sarandon and barry bostwick werent in the film. But wat about peter hinwood the guy who played Rocky. He was such a good actor and was sooooo good looking.
@siggie999 I've read that he didn't like the attention he got from playing in movies, so he eventually quit to live a more peaceful life; "One, I can't act. Two, I cringe with embarrassment every time I see myself on film. Three, I relish a quiet, peaceful life."

@tomboy0219 true it would have been awsome if they kept the original cast from rhps to shock treatment but its still a good movie in its own way though :P
This is a good movie but if only the kept the original Brad and Janet it would have been better, now if they only had Tim Curry as the evil twin brother that would have been WAY better, over all its still a good movie to watch it just depends on how you look at it ,of what they could have done to make it popular just like RHPS
@NoJudgement1980 they asked tim to play farley, but he said that he wouldnt be able to do convincing american accent :( barry bostwick was working on some other movie i think and susan wanted way too much money. I agree it would have made it more popular... but this cast has grown on me. I hated it at first, i was like, WTF? Where are my sexy transvestites? And what happened to brad and janet? lolz.
I literally can't stop listening to this song!!! I'm a huge RHPS fan and haven't seen Shock Treatment yet but I really want to and just lovee this song! :D
@Lennonfan1010 I watched it a few days ago; I really liked it (except for Janet's voice, heh)! I loved Richard O'Brien and Patricia Quinn in it soo much. I wish Little Nell had a bigger part
This movie takes a few viewings to understand, but they do a good job with it. To bad Rocky Horror Shows His Heels and Revenge of the Old Queen couldn't be made, they would have been great.
P.S. The clip is sped up slightly so it sounds off.
@familygal928, Thanks for trolling me troll :). That's the sad thing. I don't consider myself a great singer but I CAN sing better than this. Granted I haven't seen the whole movie, but this seen just doesn't compare with Rocky HOrror for singing quality. Patricia Quinn in particular doesn't seem to hold her notes well, which surprises me, although she's probably the best actress there. And who cares what your best friend thinks? In life you will like many movies that are bad. That's fine tho.
@SirPuppetFox hey! my best friend loves this movie! and they sing good! plus this movie is supposed to be weird so they are purposely singing a little weird! they probably sing better than you do!
There actually IS. An actual sequel. It's called Revenge of the Old Queen. O'Brian refuses to make it because of how Shock Treatment flopped so bad and because the cast had aged too much. You can find the script online. It's wacky!

THE ROCKY HORRORS, a novel of psychological suspense by Newsweek Science Editor Charles Panati, an ebook at Amazon.com. In this new page-turning thriller, the killer is an obsessed fan of the cult film. Clues left at the crime scenes are straight from the movie. And the killer's identity - and motive for murder - are to be found in the film. The perfect gender-bending sequel to the cult classic.
@vampyre069 Your comment has suspended my disbelief, perhaps not one of the greatest films ever made, but still an elusive gem. It was so refreshing to watch, RHPS was at the point of being overplayed for me- yet this Shock Treatment threw me a little. A true cult classic; I stress the word 'classic'. Richard O'Briens genuis shines again. Nell needed more screen time though. What a truly lovely odd film which remains intact by the Rocky Horror pop culture bandwagon fans that dismiss it quickly!
Farley, the business man who owns everything, is Brad's long lost twin and apparently jealous or something and he wants to ruin his life (stealing his wife, commiting him etc.). All of these doctors are really just character actors just like in your usual "reality television". That's how I got it
Love this song. LOVE this movie. Didn't quite have the same effect as RHPS but it certainly reflects 21st century societies obsession with reality programming and product placement.

Tbh I didnt enjoy the movie that much (apart from Richard, Pat, Nell and Rik) but the music is SO catchy! Id even go as far as to say that many of the songs in this movie are catchier than those in Rocky Horror.
@vampyre069 I'd say this movie even compares to rocky horror cause if you go watch the theater version(not a live screening) this is a much better play the only thing rocky horror had that put it so far ahead was Tim Curry. P.S. yes little Neil was so amazing
Here's the 411 on Shock Treatment. It was a rush-job, crippled by a writer's strike and a studio that had no understanding of the material. As a movie, it most def falls short compared to RHPS. (but remember, RHPS was polished and tuned for almost a decade on stage before it was filmed, ST had about 3 months)
But even if it doesn't quite hang together as a movie, it has some of the most phenomenal rock-musical numbers ever filmed. Truly O'Brien's best ever.
@rabblevox1 Shock Treatment was not a rush-job. It started out as Rocky Horror Shows His Heels (and later The Brad and Janet Show), which was written in 1978. The Rocky Horror Show was performed for a year before the movie was filmed. That's nine years short of a decade. And if Shock Treatment is truly O'Brien's best ever, how can it most def fall short compared to RHPS? Does that make RHPS O'Brien's bestest ever?
People said the ending was dumb, but I found it's corniness perfect for the film's plot- things just go back to normal and reset like any other reality TV show.
@TishKitty Yeah, Length wise, they're about the same, but it just seems like it got sped up, without changing the speed. Like the tempo feels different.
@vampyre069 Agreed; it's weird, it seems dated in its critique now, but then you stop and think, whoa, he was doing this in the early 80's, and it's a pretty gutsy high concept piece. I did try watching it again though a while back, and it really is a movie I like the ideas to better than the process of actually watching.
Also, these characters are really great. I love the fact that Richard, Patricia and Nell can play such wonderfully entertaining characters in both movies, and now adding it the fantastic Bert Schnick, it just makes for a great movie. With some great great songs to boot. Do they sell this movie anywhere? I want a copy!
This song has been stuck in my head since I watched this movie last week. I'm really disappointed that his movie has gone so unappreciated... It truly is very good when you cancel out any thoughts of Rocky Horror. People just don't get that it's not a sequel. If they would just forget about that movie while watching this, I think they'd really enjoy it. Perhaps if this one would have come first, I wonder what people would think of it then?
@vampyre069 You know what your right. The movie did predict reality shows for the future. Richard O'Brien is ahead of his time. Good job pointing that out.

This song is really great...but the movie wasn't good as well...

People said the ending was dumb, but I found it's corniness perfect for the film's plot- things just go back to normal and reset like any other reality TV show.

Why does this sound/feel faster than the soundtrack version? Is it just my imagination, or does any one else get that sense?
Samaelpendragon 1 year ago 4
@Samaelpendragon It's a tiny bit high or pitched, the song on the album runs 2:19. Richard sounds like a chipmunk here
TishKitty 1 year ago
@TishKitty Yeah, Length wise, they're about the same, but it just seems like it got sped up, without changing the speed. Like the tempo feels different.

I have the movie, but haven't got round to watching it yet. But this song's fucking awesome!

MrMoonlight93 1 year ago
@MrMoonlight93 I think in some places they sell it in a double pack with Rocky Horror.

@MrMoonlight93
theres a experiment. show Shock Treatment to someone who hasnt seen it or RHPS then show them it.

Watch the movie again and it makes more sense. Still don't think its better than RHPS but the music in it is great! It needed some Tim Curry :-(
BlackCow99 1 year ago
@vampyre069 You know what your right. The movie did predict reality shows for the future. Richard O'Brien is ahead of his time. Good job pointing that out.
