As far as the Canibis debate goes; I don't use it or like it, but the government shouldn't be able to make a plant illeal. How rediculous is that? I don't belive the government should tell me what I can put in my body including any drugs. That isn't freedom. They can provide the education on dangers of a substance, that's great and responsible of them. But if I want to take a drug I should be able to. Who's with me?!!!
Singing the vocals from a phone in jail? Now that's punk. It also raises the question, how did he hear the rest of the tracks? Did he maybe sing it acapella and then edit it in the studio. That would be a big job considering this was a few years before digital editing. I would guess everything was done on tape. Great Band!! To say the least.
And yes the story was true HR was in jail and the guards let him sing through the phone. This is one of the best songs along with reignition. But if you never saw them live in concert in you cannot speak about the talent NO MATTER how many times you've listened to their albums. One of the best live bands of all time, extremely tight & the drummer massacred the drums. Also they'd hang out with their fans. Enjoyed hanging/smoking with them at the Afterdeck in Myrtle Beach, SC several times.
GashWagon obviously you weren't around when Bad Brains was the shit. Bad Brains continued to be a great band well into the 90's even during the Soul Brains years. They are still playing today but HR no longer sings sort of just mumbles from what a friend told me that saw them recently. I never recall them being known as a punk rock band which they never were. If you had ever seen them live you wouldn't make stupid comments. Top 10 band live in their genre, Sublime live was unreal and Stuck Mojo
Great track but apart from the title track and maybe Reignition,the rest of the album is pretty lousy.Totally overhyped. Its more metal than punk which is no bad thing but the songs just aren't that good.Black Dots,Omega Sessions and ROIR Lp are all that anyone needs. They became meaningless after 1985.

H.R was in jail so the sound technican guy in the studio did something with the soundboard and H.R sang it over the telephone while he was in jail. Think he also had a piece of cloth on the telephone mouthpiece. Awesome song
