@MrNormandaniel I agree. I usually only use the HD bucket for sanitizer. This time, I used it for a few cups of wart squeeze out. But since it was so little wort, I wasn't too concerned. But you're right, technically I should be using a food grade bucket.
I am your one dislike so far... but I was right with ya untill you used the HOME DEPOT bucket, which may not be a #1 or a #2 plasic bucket which are food grades. You MUST use food grade if you don't like petrol chemicals leeching in to your beer!!!!!
Nice video. I did my first BIAB this weekend, three gallon, all on my stove. I liked the idea of wraping the mash pot with blankets. What is the bitterness rating, of this English Bitter recipe?
@TheSateef The hot break is when you get boil overs. If you don't pay attention you'll have a mess all over the floor.
You start seeing the foam rise like the video shows and it is ALMOST about to boil. I usually turn my heat down a little and blow on the foam to reduce the mess and let the boil start.
@TreacleMary This turned out to be a nice, mild ale. My friends really liked it. I tend to like a bolder taste, but I'm still pleased with the results.

thanks, very nice, clear, well explained video.
you made a comment at 3:00 'paying close attention to the hot break', what did you mean by that?
also, is it necessary to chill the wort that fast, can't you just leave it overnight to cool naturally? is there a downside to that? thanks

Really good video, and I like the tip for sanitising the wort chiller in the boil, very efficient.
I'm moving on from kit/extract brews and BIAB looks like a really good technique for the volumes I want to produce.
