  • Thanks to your video that did not work in any form, I've now completely LOST my rom. Way to go you!

  • FOR THOSE OF YOU HAVING PROBLEMS WITH LOADING THE SECOND GAME READ THE FOLLOWING: Copying & renaming the save files from VBA to TGB manually WONT WORK.

Step 1. Open the first game in VBA .

    2. Click File > Export Battery File and save it in the TGB Save File ( note that it will transferred as a .sav file)

    3. Open the second game, do the same but RENAME FROM ,SAV TO .SA2 in the export window.

Took hours to figure out :')

    i herd u liek mudkips

  • @ramiq27 nice it work, but now how do i change the tga save file to vba link?

    thanks for the help

  • @teemo20 You can just copy it from the TGB file to the VBA file and rename it manually. Try renaming it to .sa1 or .sa2 or .sa0

  • @ramiq27

The second Save is still not working!

  • @mastersquirrel3 I dont know what to tell you.. I tried every possible way and that was the only way it worked and it worked for many others. Try again and make sure you are renaming them from VBA's export option. Manually renaming the saves wont work for most ppl.

  • i can't get the second game (crystal) to load in the tgb, i changed the extension to sa2 but it didn't do anything, help?

  • ABURRES

  • How do you transfer the .sv0 file back into .sav so my ds can read it, I wanna play rthis on my ds not computer but learnt how to do this so i could trade, now I dont know how I can actually bring my .sv0 save state into .sav which the ds can read and load?

  • @TheSupremePhantom how can you play on ur ds?

  • as soon as my second game is almost at the continue screen it freaks out and then huts down what should i do?

  • My TGB wont load the ".sav" file. But my VBA does, D:

  • @barcap0wer Nvm i solved it, tyvm gor the great guide!

  • @barcap0wer please how did you solved it? I`m having this same problem

  • @lcg3092 Go into TGB dual and choose Options -> Folders. Here you can choose for what folder the game will load from. Make sure to choose the same folder for both ROMs and SAVE. And also make sure that your Rom and "sav"/"sa2" files are in this folder. A bit hard to explain, Idk if this was to any help. Good luck! =]

  • My TGB didnt come with a save folder. What should I do?

  • Thank you !! <3 It helped me VEERY much :)

  • wait a sec... does vba REAL SAVE... start save, files also work with tgb??

    i though they were different.

  • so when i load up the game in tgb it doesnt recognize that i have saved and asks if i ant to start a new game. but when i open the same rom with visual boy advance, it remember. so i tried dragging the sa1 file to the tgb emulator and i get a tgb dual error message with random characters. hats going wrong here?

  • you will play vs random? 9 server nonstop online with [Hamachi + TGB_Dual] Servernames: Pokemon-UnlimitSlots1 Pokemon-UnlimitSlots2 Pokemon-UnlimitSlots3 Pokemon-UnlimitSlots4 Pokemon-UnlimitSlots5 Pokemon-UnlimitSlots6 Pokemon-UnlimitSlots7 Pokemon-UnlimitSlots8 Pokemon-UnlimitSlots9 No Passwords, or password is Pokemon :)
  • it works.. thanks :D

  • Hey guys, read the comments and noticed that some of you couldn't play the new file on VBA. I think I figured it out:

    1. After trading, save in TGB dual (in the 1st game). Then, write a save state (File->Save State-> Pick A State )

    2. Close TGB dual.

    3. Reopen TGB dual and load the ROM as before.

    4. Load the state you saved. It took me two tries reopening before it showed up in the "Load State" menu item.

    5. Save in the game.

    6. Open with VBA. An error should pop up; ignore it, play, save!

  • well yes u can i used it vba...1.72...it mght be a prob if u dont know...the types of files are sa2 and sv4 so try to load them over and over again...renaming it..i know it sounds complicated but it worked for me

  • Can you trade and then use the save in a different emulator?

  • @RebelElite it seems like in-game saves, are the same for both vba, tgb and homers rin on psp.

though the last one is inside a GZ compressed file

  • How come mine always says new game?

  • @shoelacejcru Try loading each game one at a time instead of simultaneously.

  • So just to be clear, Pokemon Emerald is a Gameboy Advance game so it won't work withe the TGB Dual emulator?

  • @leblaze5 That is correct. If you want to trade with generation 3 games you should look into VBA Link.

  • Great guide, worked flawlessly. Now I can try and get all 150 Pokemon legit on my Pokemon Red rom.

  • GREAT GUIDE! I was trying to do this with VBALink but I only realized it wouldn't work for Red/Blue/Yellow when I was already pissed off lol...

    Thanks a lot!

  • OMG save works thank you man

  • Hi, i seem to have a problem.

I've traded many times before but the problem i have is that my gb1 loads perfectly and i got all my pokemons ect. but i always got to start a new game on my gb2

another thing is that when i save the game on my gb1 it's a sv0, sv1 ,... file but i can't turn them into a .sav file so i can use it to play on my regular emulator. Wich is a very good one (4000 times normal speed,...)

well if some one knows a solution for one of the problems pls tell me ty

  • if you look up how to trade pokemon visule boy advance one of the most vewd videos will have a gba link emuater

  • Stupid question , but do you need 2 games ?

  • @sammieboy714 No you can actually make a copy of one ROM and run it on the GB2. Using another ROM is optional. By the way, that wasn't a stupid question. "How can my feet smell if they don't have a nose" is a stupid question haha.

  • @thoraxtheimpaler09 Haha :p well , I have done it exactly as you said so thanks a lot =)

  • @thoraxtheimpaler09 no thats a joke question :D

  • @thoraxtheimpaler09 ive been wanting to trade my pokemon from blue to crystal but pkmn crystal's save file wont load....any suggestions?

  • sooo when i load up the gb2 for some reason im not able to control that window. like i hit enter(for start) at the main screen and it just pauses in the gb1 menu still. what am i missing?

  • @buffcouch Try configuring the controls for GB2 before you start using it. That should solve your problem.

  • @thoraxtheimpaler09 i have the same problem but how do i configure the controls?

  • @thoraxtheimpaler09 i just figured it out :D never mind!!

  • @thoraxtheimpaler09 ok.. but now i have a new problem.. so when i load the 2nd game, that game doesnt have my "continue" on it. only says "new game" no matter which game it is. i tried playing it again and saving it, but it still says "new game" and no continue

  • Ah, you're hilarious.

  • Son of a bitch! 7:42

  • To much porn

  • Pokemon on my computer /m/!!!

    ... Iron Maiden background /m/!!!!!

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH, I HAD A BIT OF DIFFICULTY BUT NOW HAVE NICE TEAM OF 2 TOTODILE,1 CYNDA,1 CHIKO, AND SOME OTHERS TYYYY :)

  • I don't even know how to use this emulator. Can't save, can't adjust volume, can't do much of anything except just play the game...well what's the use?

  • Does it work for Pokemon Crystal?

  • it says " im sorry the capel capsule is being adjusted :(

  • my files got deleted :(

  • Mine doesn't create any files when I save in-game... what do I do? - i'm using pokemon yellow.

  • I can in DS?

  • It doesn;t let me import my VBA roms to TGBDual. I even tried renaming the files and everything, but whenever I try to open it in TGBDual, I get this error message. What do I do wrong? Plz respond!!!

  • thanks a lot, you really help me .

  • thanks for not giving anyone a warning, it erased everything and got me nowhere...

  • one question, how to configure that bloody NetPlay ? I am using 7.2053-0.96 Unofficial English

  • Thanks for the guide dude, it works, finally i can trade my pokemon silver, btw it doesn't work wif sa3 rename to sa2 for the GB2 :( anyway i got it traded :D

  • it jus says new game everytime, any suggestions?

  • @TheDt118 try renaming the SAV/sa2 file just like the rom name, for example if your ROM is Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!].gbc, the sav/sa2 should be Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!].sav or Pokemon - Crystal Version (UE) (V1.1) [C][!].sa2

  • It worked! Thank you

  • You are rather obnoxious with your stumbling,

but I watched it anyway since I needed the info.

    Thank you

    FOR NOTHING!

  • Here's the issue: When loading a pokemon crystal file, I put the rom and the .sav file into the folder, but when I load the game, the game doesn't register the saved data so I'd have to start a new game, rather than continue from where I left off. Got any idea as to how to fix this?

  • Hey great vid. My only problem is that I can't get the second window/emulator/whatever to load the .sa2 file. it'll load the game just fine, but it won't let me continue.

  • hi, I play Pokemon Crystal, and I always load my games using VBA emulator and I always load my game from the .zip folder without noticing the .gbc file is in the .zip folder, while the .sav file is out of the .zip folder, i tried using TGB (since it can be used to trade) but it cant load from the .zip folder, i tried to extract the .gbc file from the .zip folder, then copied>pasted it in save folder of TGB, when it 'can' load there's no 'continue' theres only 'new game' and options' Help Me! :(
  • <3 I love you for this video ^^!

  • would there be a way to trade from an emulator (using the wirless) To a gameboy advanced (using the adaptor?)

  • @ultracentrifugegate Thanks for the spam ass hole. NOW HERE COMES THE BAN HAMMER! BAM!

  • Sry i mean MeBoy save file is a .rms format..cn u convrt it into .sav format?

  • @ayushsingh20 Nope in that case I don't think you can.

  • @ayushsingh20 i've meboy in my cellphone and if you also have it in your computer, you can receive from your cell savegames, and the extension of it is .sav. I've already done it.

  • Yes MeBoy save file is a .sav format..btw wt u r sayng abt extract?

  • is der any way to play MeBoy save file in TGB dual emulator??

  • @ayushsingh20 I'm not sure. I think if the MeBoy save file is a .sav file, and you know how to extract it, you may be able to play it. It may not be compatible with TGB though.

  • ok i found the answer to it Thoraxtheimpler09

ill work on a vid on how to do it. ive never done a tutorial vid though lol.

  • lol sorry guys. i am a complete dumbass, all i had to do was pause it and go to reset lol. any way this is awesome. im actually playing the roms on my Wii via the homebrew channel. i have all the pokemon roms out there. But i have one question. is there a way you can load a gb or gbc game into the pokemon stadium n64 rom? cause that would be sweet. leave me a message if yall know. thanks

  • @rarivera2005 I believe it's possible to do, but I'm not sure since I've never tried it myself.

  • @thoraxtheimpaler09

im doing some reasearch on it. hopefully i can do it. i wanna teach my pikachu surf so i can play that mini game in yellow.

  • Can i use Yellow and Blue with this??

  • @rarivera2005 Yep you sure can

  • @thoraxtheimpaler09@thoraxtheimpaler09

awesome. well i followed exactly what you said. i went through and went to the pokemon center. only problem is the first screen says the usual " apply here, you need to save... blah blah blah" while its saying that the other screen is saying " we are making preparations please wait." the the first screen says "the connection was disconnected due to inactivity" what do i do?

  • UPDATE i got it to work but now when im in the trade room. there is no exit?!?

im stuck in there. i have to reset the rom. do you know what i may be doing wrong?

  • hay first of all great video and i am able to get up to the same stage as u in this video but it says the same thing that urs says: Sorry--SQUIRTLE can't be taken.

how do i avoid this? thanx

  • @AB3YARATN3 First of all, is SQUIRTLE the nickname of the pokemon, or is it really a squritle? Either way, if the pokemon you are trying to trade has a generation 2 move or is holding an item, it can not be traded.

  • hey thorax great video, but i'm still having some problems and i was hoping you could help me.

im playing pokemon blue and i want to trade with myself and i was originally using a VBA emulator. So i transferred the .sav file from VBA to the TGB save folder and changed the file type to .sa2 and i also transferred the rom to the save folder. However when i load the rom it doesnt come up with my save and wants me to start a new game. i was hoping you could help?

  • @MyHappyPlace12 Sure I can help. I assume that you're trying to trade using only your Blue ROM, and in making this assumption, all you need to do is copy the .sa2 file in the Save folder.

  • @MyHappyPlace12 Sorry I answered you logged into the wrong account :P the information is still correct though

  • thanks a lot man! it was a lot of help!

  • Amazing man. I've been trying to do this like for 4 hours and just after watching your video i realized that my problem was in the copy of .sav and then rename to sa2... THANK YOU A LOT!

  • Oh, btw, thorax, what type of TGB Emulator are you using exactly?

  • @TheNowIsTheMoment I'm using version 0.7.2048.96

  • I can do everything correctly, but when I go to trade, there is a long pause and I get the message: "Link closed due to inactivity."

I have absolutely no idea what is wrong. I have done all of the above steps correctly. Both ROMs are game boy color.

Anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions?

  • @ thoraxtheimpaler09

To be honest i Never thought it was possible to trade with emulators pokemon, after seeing your video ( and trying it of course ) I must say im impressed, Thank you for posting this thoraxtheimpaler09 This is EPIC !!! 5/5 Your AWESOME !!!

  • @Ryan432120 No problem dude, glad I could be of service. Quite honestly I thought it was impossible too untill I saw Slowflake's tutorial. I then subbed to him because he's a really good no BS let's player lol

  • Alright, soooo i can get both games loaded no problem and have all my data and such. However, once i have loaded both games on their respective "GBs", i lose control of the A and B button on GB 1, which is reallllllyyy frustrating, rendering me unable to speak with the woman at the trading area. Can you, thorax, help me out, or anyone else? much appreciated!

  • @AhrenGxc3 Glad you got your saves loaded, since that seems to be a problem a lot of people are having, myself included. Anyway, what do you mean by "lose control"? Do you mean that you haven't configured the controls correctly, or do you mean the emulator starts up ok, and then after you get to the start screen you can't do anything? If it's the first one, try fooling around with the control configurations till you find something that works.

  • @thoraxtheimpaler09 Ahh I shouldve specified, when i meant "lose control" i meant lose their function, they just no longer work. After doing various different little things like clicking outside the emulator and then clicking on the emulator i eventually got it to work, and i got the pokemon traded :) Great video btw!

  • XD ur comp is as laggy as mine, and mine is crappy :P

  • @rambo7149 Lol I screen capped this from my laptop, it's not too good

  • thank you bitch

  • For those of ya having problems with getting the Continue up. I have figured out the issue after a many heads acks, screwing with the program and everything else. Lets use pokemon yellow as an example. If you have never played pokemon yellow on TGB before then you will need first place your rom file in the correct location as thor stated and then load the rom and go threw the process like you would normaly and start a new game. After going threw all the begining

  • Comment removed

  • @This is part two of what i was talking about on me last comment@ stuff, save the game and then close down TGB. After that then simpley replace your .sav file with the one you are wanting to do the trading on. That is how I was able to get it to work for me. If you would like a video of how I did it just contact me via email jaredshipp@inbox.com with the Subject stating the following Example Vid Please? and i will create one for ya. n.n

  • @jaredshipp121286

    I love you.

  • Whenever i try to open a game on the tgb dual i can only open a new game i cant open my games that i have already started. How can I do this?

  • I'm having troubles saving overall. I am using TGB Dual, and it doesn't seem to want to read my saved games..

  • @Leveena You may need to start over if it isn't reading your save files. If you can, try making a backup of the original save file and start over.

  • I've got an issue.. I'm trying to trade from Crystal to Yellow and when I talk to the lady in Yellow, she says that the link cable isn't connected?

  • dude you get 5 stars just for the name thoraxtheimpaler but hopefully this will work for me

  • @zayn2123 Haha thank you : )

  • im trying to trade between Gold/Silver. My problem is that the savegame only gets read if its in the 1st load window. in the Second the only option is new game, no matter game :S

  • @Tortovillain I ran into a similar problem with VBA Link. Try getting to the continue screen on the first emulator screen, then load the in game save with the second one.

  • I cant "continue" when Im using TGB Dual. I can open the rom and continue in VBA from the same exact location, but not TGB... Its really frustrating. If someone could help, that would be grand.

  • @Skope111 No problem bud I've had this same problem too. If you get that message, that means that TGB Dual is not reading the .sav file correctly. First, make sure you're using the .sav files and not .sgm files. Second, make sure that they're in the correct folder and have the right extensions.

  • @thoraxtheimpaler09 Thanks for the quick response... but I actually have a simple fix if anyone else is having my problem: Rename your .gbc and.sav files (make sure they still match) because what I found out is that TGB creates a brand new .sav every time you try to open a rom.

  • @thoraxtheimpaler09 I play Fire Red and Leaf Green, but maybe you can help me. I have no ".sav" file; I only have ".sa1" or ".sa2" files which are created whenever I close the VBA. This means I can't rename them properly to trade (I read it will only work if I have ".sa1" for one game, and ".sa2" for the other; it won't work if each game has 2 different save files). Would you know how to fix this? Thanks!

  • @babalufinho The reason why FireRed .sa1 files won't work is because TGB Dual does not support trade between gameboy advance games. See Slowflake's video in the description to learn how to do that because I have never used VBA Link to trade before.

  • "The link has been closed because of inactivity" the one side (gb2) but running the other it says just waiting for preparations.

  • I get "Welcome to the cable club. We're making preparations. Please wait."

  • is it possible to trade between two same emulators???

  • is there another TGB which works with the Game Boy Advance games, such as Fire Red???

  • @babalufinho Indeed there is. It's called VBA Link. Check out the video by Slowflake in the related videos section to find out how to use it because I have never used it before.

Thanks!

  • the rom will load but the save file will not go on the rom. Help? :[

  • Dude i dont know where to get my ."sav" File and how do i get it? :[ are you supposed to save in game? but then how do i get it cuz its not showing up? :[

  • @xDanyManx The .sav files should be in the same folder you keep the roms in if you are starting out using a different emulator, like VBA. If you are using a different emulator, they may be in a different location. Yes you need to save in game for the .sav files to appear.

  • @thoraxtheimpaler09 okay i found the sav. File but when i click on it to start it up words come up that are not human lol so i guess i have to do something to make it work?

  • @xDanyManx Yes you do you have to change one of the extensions to .sa2, and load that file in GB2. I show you how to do that in the video and in the description.

  • @thoraxtheimpaler09 well i got to work but i was using the same file and i was wondering on how can i use the file so i can use the traded pokemon? do i rename it again and paste it where my Roms are? or what? and im sorry for asking so many questions lol

  • @xDanyManx Yes that's exactly what you need to do. Rename the .sa2 file so that it's .sav again, and put both files and roms back into the folders where they came from originally. Since you used only one rom instead of 2 I believe, you need to delete the original. In other words, the one you don't want to use the traded pokemon in, if that makes any sense

  • @thoraxtheimpaler09 well i got the sav file but it wont load my file. like i would start up the game and the "Continue" word doesn't appear on the screen :[

  • listen i got a little question..

i tried to trade from yellow to yellow. now i can get into the trade zone but when i try to trade 2 pokemons i get a white screen and nothing happen. its also delete my save but i used save state as well so i am good.

    thx for your help

  • Thanks for the help, i managed to trade a charmander from red to crystal. Now my problem is how to i change the save game with the charmander on so that i can play it on vba link? Thanking you in advance, Josh

  • Yeah to play the game just change the extension back to .sav if it isn't already.

  • i'm following your instructions, and everything is working except the GB2 load. the rom will load, but the save file will not.

  • What should I do if I used my old emulator to emulate on a zip file instead of unzipping it first then emulate it?

  • I think that as long as the .sav files are created, this should still work. If not, I'm not sure if this will work.

  • @thoraxtheimpaler09 thank you for your prompt reply. I've solved the zip problem but i've arrived at a new problem. The old emulator I used is PlayGuy. It saves as .gbs not .sav I believe. It has a very vague guide on its homepage as well, in which I cannot understand.

  • Comment removed

  • @thenosa87 "How can I trade Pokemon with PlayGuy?

Trading Pokemon requires GameLink support. PlayGuy does not yet have GameLink support integrated into the application. I suggest using TGB Dual for trading your Pokemon. It is the only GBx emulator I know of that supports GameLink with two different carts. Battery backed SRAM files should be compatible, just change the extention from gbs to sav and move to the proper directory."

  • @thenosa87 i've quoted it here for you

  • @thenosa87 Yes I believe that what you have said about PlayGuy should solve that problem. Change the .gbs extension to a .sav file extension. I show you how to change extensions in both the video, and in the description. Private message or leave a comment if you have any more problems.

  • @thoraxtheimpaler09 I've tried that, but apparently there was no extension to start off with. And if I type .sav or .sa2 in the file it still shows up as a GBS file. Is there any other way I can convert it to a SAV file?

  • @thenosa87 i've uploaded a image , it might help explain a few things

  • Comment removed

  • @thenosa87 and you're sure that you unchecked the box under my documents that says, "hide extensions for known file types"? because if that box is checked, you can't change the extensions. also, i don't know of another way to convert the files.

  • @thoraxtheimpaler09 Thank you! I solved my problem. You are a genius. Sorry I ignored the box earlier.

  • @thenosa87 yep no problem, glad I could help

  • hi, im having so many problems understanding those stages, can you please talk to me in privet and tell me how to do them?

im stuck in stage 2 :(

    thanks.

  • actually im still in stage 1, i dont understand where do i get these .sav files :(

  • @SagiDahan1 Save using the in game menu and it automatically makes a .sav file.

  • Sooooo.. I traded from Red to Crystal and now the time on my Crystal is messed up and the picture is all fuzzy now.. Can I play the files on VBA after I trade on TGB?
