yeah really everyone acts like your crazy for shooting video, when their the crazy ones working on the RR, if you don't like your job then get the hell out and let someone who wants to work do your job, great job on the videos, thank-you
Problem is, 75% of railfans could never be a good conductor. They are so caught up in all the other trains and action around them that they loose focus on the task at hand. I'm not being a jerk but it's true. Like it or not. Working for the RR is not just one big cabride like a lot of people think...
??? I know a few people that are railfans, & conductors/engineers at the same time. 2 of whom are here on YT. Not a big deal. I could do that job without a problem, but railfanning is just a hobby for me.
I never said they can't. You're talking to one now. The problem is, a lot of guys think that all the job consists of is sitting in the cab and waving at people. I have a better argument behind it but I don't have time to explain it. Email or PM me if you wish. Like I said, not all but there are some that just wouldn't make the cut. I need to head to work, I need to take a 498 to Bensenville.
I hear ya. I know exactly what they have to deal with, because I've had the chance to see what they do on a few different occasions. lots of paperwork, Switching cars, setting up consists, etc. just to name a few things. As long as your having fun doing it, that's all that counts. Have fun out there on that Bensenville run.
@Giebs Whats wrong with enjoying trains? Sure we obsess about it, but that's good.. I think many of us know just what it takes to get into the position of the conductor, and we all know education, dedication, and hard work is involved and definitely needed. The job is grueling, hard, and very demanding at times, but if you truly love trains, just being around them, no matter what the task at hand is, is fulfilling. They say if you love your job, you'll never work a day in your life...
lol that is good ole conductor Wilson. He saw my Shiftwork music vid (which he was in a lot) and when he saw me filming, I think he thought that he might as well take a classy bow lol the guys around here on the RR are a lot of fun
Adam first off nice vid good job with this video i enjoyed favorited and rated and an awesome song to go with it this is truely great showing people what conductors do on a daily basis thats its not all fun and games its dangerous out there Thanks again
wow thos units at 0:13 were really bouncing :P and the crossing lights at 2:11 where really lazy, they went off just as the train was crossing. lol. and i take it the vido yu made? nicely put togeather. 5*****
Yeah that section of track in Lena IL is rough. I think that the reason the lights were so lazy is because they just entered an industial switch, still should have gone off sooner though.Yep, I shot all of these vids, and edited them.
Adam, Adam, Adam...That was a totally AWESOME video!!!!! Great Job, excellent editing and soundtrack. You are a master. 5 stars and a favorite here. Keep up the great work!!!
Thanks a lot Dave. The conductor that is in most of this video, and quite a bit of the "Shiftwork" one, Gerry, really liked Shiftwork, and he asked me yesterday "When are you gonna do another one?" So last night I decided I'd throw this together. I'm glad that you enjoy them as well!
Love this & the original!

Shortline conductors have to do much more work than mainline ones, but i think it would be more fun to be more active

quote "the guys around here on the RR are a lot of fun"
Half the guys on CN's Wisconsin Division just stare at you, not even a wave... WSOR is usually much nicer. They wave with all five fingers!!!
Giebs 3 years ago
It really depends on the crew. Lately I've been getting more and more waves in the Neenah area.
