i am nepali and i think china should leave tibet alone. If tibet had oil or something thats precious to US perhaps tibet would have been left alone way back when. Anyways, staying away from the politics.... i've always had these dogs back home and that now i am in states i would love to have one if not two.. They are simply put..."AWESOME"
I dream of him and weep daily. My husband says, “This is not healthy”. So today I typed in Tibet Dog and saw your video. It is my desire to assemble a package. Please, if I may give it to you to give to the lovely young man and lady in the video. I want the people of Yunnan to have my gift as a remembrance of a wonderful soul that made me a better woman.
We live in the thick woods surrounded by bears and wolves. He was the most protective of all dogs. He was ever watchful of my beloved horse. One day he looked very tired and I thought it was the heat, the next day while grooming him I found a tick. Later he could not breathe and we took him to the vet. He died of Rocky Mountain fever and was positive for heart worms. He was fine on Monday, dead on Thursday.
Nobody knew what kind of dog he was because his looks were so unfamiliar. On March ’06 my husband called me and said I see in WSJ an article of a man Wong How Man in Yunnan and there is Maxwell! So he was a Tibet! Before we understood what he was we had many names for him. He had hair like a yak, so we called him “yak-dog”. But most of all he had large paws and a mane like a lion so his nick-name was “Lion of Judah”, because he was so brave he reminded me of King David.
Hello Dear Ones, I am so grateful to see your video because my heart is so full of grief. It has been a year since my precious Maxwell passed. Nov.’06 someone set him out in the parking lot of the Church at the bottom of our hill. We took him into our home along with our four dogs, four cats and horse. He was so unusual. It is hard to put into words, because I have had dogs as companions all my life. But, something was so special about him and there was a closeness I cannot explain.
It is a really good work trying to keep those breeds alive...and I wouldn t consider a dog breeding something of political concern. Imagine, I rise a shar pei, so am I a communist?
bhomo, we are just dog lovers we dont care what is going on between tibet and china, we are just happy that there are people who cares about these dogs and we would do the same given this opportunity. So please stop your political talk, it is starting to get annoying.
It got political because the TM has a political history w/ the Han/CCP influence. One of the reasons there are less pure Mastiffs is that Mao ordered all large dangerous dogs killed.
The Han also brought their smaller dogs from the east, which I'm guessing also contributed to the diluting of the bloodline. CCP social, political & environmental policy have also broken the nomad tradition, which means even less families keep the dogs
I do have to agree that China needs to stay out of Tibet. China now lists Doh Kyi (Tibetan Mastiff) as a national treasure and Mao and the gang of 4 orderd all dangerous large dogs killed. I have a 7 month old female TM and want to get a male pup to be her companion early next year. They are one of the smartest breeds I have ever met. By the way, did I mention one of the most destructive breeds. lol
oooohh the girl warned you guys to not get close to the dogs. Our dogs are not as gentle, and non violent like the Tibetan people. They can smell Chinese miles away....so BEWARE
It'd be much appreciated if China and Chinese people that think that they are doing good to leave Tibetans, their wild & domestic animals, their clean waters, their mountains, their forests, basically everything that belongs to the country TIBET alone.....and to deal with things that are Chinese...such as China, Chinese people, Chinese forests (whatever is left of it) Chinese waters (whatever drinkable water is left) mountains (whatever is left that hasn't been smashed in the name of mining)
Its funny how they are actually trying to rescue our dogs. Aren't their enough dogs in China to eat, now you have to come to Tibet in the name of rescuing Tib native mastiffs from their own homeland. What a blugger.Just leave us alone and get the heck out of TIBET. Let Tibetans deal with their problems. We can resolve it in our own way, not with China nosing in all the time.
And let us not forget one thing. In the early 1940s, when the first army of the People's Republic of China arrived in Tibet, they were so hungry and dirty......they tried to kill not only our herds of animals but our guard dogs to eat them for food. The nomads from all over the place cursed them, and shooed them away as far as they could.
You are trying to take Tibetan mastiffs from Tibet, breed them, sell them over abroad. This isn't doing any justice to Tibetans.....this is exactly what you guys have been doing to young Tibetan girls. Telling them the nomadic families that you will provide education for their daughters, sisters, etc. You take them outside Tibet to bordering countries and sell their bodies for mere sum of yuan. No thanks.....our Tibetan girls and dogs do not need a pimp in the name of HELP.
To the host girl....you shouldn't worry about the nomadic Tibetans. Their life styles including their dogs which is equivalent to a family member in the Tibetan belief....has been on the Tibetan plateau for hundreds of years. They didn't have a problem raising their dogs, and keeping them safe before the PRC and I don't think they will if you leave Tibetans alone. I don't think rescuing Tibetan mastiffs is entirely the big picture here, why don't you make it more clear.
first of all bless u for saving the tibmastiff but and hope u dont sell it abroad because it belongs in tibetan plateau thts why its called tibetan mastiff, also u should distinguish a pure breed from a mix because most of the herders dont bother as long as it protects the cattle and the owner, so i think there is a lot of learning to do as u are supposed to be specified in this feild .. im updating new photos chk out my page tibmastiff
