  • Ponting is as poor a player as I have ever seen

  • @TheRooster94 look at his record .he has the best record amongst any captain better than any llyod or border or waugh.Dont say he had players who were greatest in that time but he didnt lost a single match during 2003 world cup and 2007 world cup with a weaker team than 1999 waughs team which was about to be thrown out of cup.And one more thing leader of loins is never a lamb.Only a great can lead team of greats with such sucess .pakistan also had a great team in 1990s but wasnot successful

  • To say that Ricky Ponting is a sh*t captain is seriously harsh. He is the most successful captain in history (that is a certifiable fact, look at the stats). I am English and I don't mind saying it at all. He showed poor form with the bat but it was his teams fault that they lost the series because they just don't have the talent.

  • he looks like bush

  • Ricky Ponting is a great cricketer and a great captain too, him and his teams have put us to the sword plenty of times in the past, but this is our time right now, we are one of the best teams in the world and as England fans we have every right to enjoy it. Australia will be back, and I personally hope it's with Ricky as captain... Well Done England :)

  • Aussie Aussie Aussie LOL LOL LOL. With that said, the criticism Ricky has received is rubbish. What can he do with such a mediocre team?

  • i am dissapointed Ricky but PLEASE DON'T GO. STAY ON. CAPTAIN OR NO CAPTAIN STILL PLAY!

  • ponting your history and record speaks for itself. dont listen to the haters, you are the best.

  • I would hate to be an Australian sports star. As soon as you are not dominating the rest off the world , your very own " fans " tear you to shreds.

Keep your chin up Ricky , you blokes are going to win a fourth straight world cup.

  • @djsuploaded

haha and brits would know allllll about not being arrogant wouldn't they o.O

  • only dignity australia had left was the ashes record at home, now they have nothing, no culture, no art, no music and now no sport

  • @MrTrevormctrevor you know nothing about australia.

  • @manclad8404

not a hate message and i understand how excited you are that england have finally dug them selves out of the shit pile we burruied them under, they actually played amazingly well. but wow i have to say, cocky much?

  • @mkhan888 bit harsh o.O

  • Ricky is such a decent man and doesnt deserve all this shit we are giving him. Most of us only have to deal with the dissappointment of our famly and friends when we fail, think about how it feels when its your whole country. What sort of aus cricket supporters are we if we hold our captain up proud in his good times and reject him at his worst? ily ricky <3

  • Can't make my mind up about ponting..... 1 minute I'm thinking he's a total twat, the next I'm thinking he's actually a nice bloke.... Fair play he's been very magnanimous. Mitchell Johnson on the other hand....

  • You are only as good as the players you lead. Lets be honest....Aus have been spoiled over the years with great and mean GREAT players(once in lifetime players in their areas)...Now its more of a level playing field in terms of a team standard and an indivdual standard.

As for Pointing...All BS aside on his day hes a world class batsman(proven) and from what I can tell a decent guy really but of course I dont know him.

I wish him the best as a cricket fan

But come on England in sidney!

  • sub

  • From an englishman

I'd be very proud of ricky if i was an Ozzie, top bloke, gracious in defeat and a model professional, yes he made a mistake with the umpire but we all get wound up in the emotions, it shows how much it means to him, fair play Ricky, true great player, top 5 greatest batsmen of all time!

  • From England: Ricky Ponting is a Captain that all Australia should be proud of. Gracious in victory and magnanimous in defeat. You couldn't ask for more. What a great character and a credit to the game.

  • @petujaymz Go and take some English classes, retard.

  • @XxLuKeY09xX Baseball comes from rounders, a womens sport. Enough said.

  • @XxLuKeY09xX Baseball is the best? Oh, you are a funny. funny man. Are you in comedy? You should be. And you're a Liverpool fan. That is mint! Liverpool are SHIT! You must have problems or something...

  • @XxLuKeY09xX yes it is a great sport for lovers of adverts!

  • apart from Mike Hussey I dont think that the Ozzie team have played that well during the series to be honest with you

  • @eitherwaybarneyrubbl brad haddin? he played well

  • @123Peat1 yeah thats true - but in general I dont think that this Ozzie team isnt their best team by far - when you look at the previous team that beat england 5-0 a few years back

  • @eitherwaybarneyrubbl True true .. but if I can just stick my twp bucks worth in .. Shane Watson's doing his job as opener .. to be fair, he is. He's getting mid fourties to late fifties .. the middle order can't get themselves together :/ And .. as for Siddle scoring HIGER than Ponting .. hmm, I'm hoping this break during teh Sydney test will be a good thing for Ricky .. he is a good bastman, heck a year ago he was scoring centuries! :)

  • Time to go now I think mr ponting ..... Thanks for your time ..... See you in the commentary box.

  • Cricket=the shitest sport ever.

  • @DanQuinnPlayersClub no, Fishing=shittest sport ever.

  • @DanQuinnPlayersClub dont watch it then

  • I bet he takes the woman's Swisse

  • Good to see a Captain take responsibility for the team's performance and to recognise that they were beaten by what was a better team. Even if you don't like everything about him, this interview shows us what a true sportsman Ricky Ponting is. Now onto Sydney and another England win!!

  • Ricky pontings recent form is exactly why he must never be compared to a lara or a tendulkar..cos those two guys played all of there lives with the kindda tits ponting is playing with now, and they have performed magic with them..and its an altogether different ball game to say when u have Hayden and Gilli on either side of u, and warni and Mcgrath to take care of the rest..having said that, he is still a modern day great and i wish he continues playing as a batsmen for australia still need him

  • Little Johny calls the social services.

Little Johny - "I don't want to live with my dad anymore because he beats me."

Social Services - "Why don't you live with your mum instead?"

Little Johny - "No because she beats me too."

Social Services - "Who do you want to live with then?"

Little Johny - "The Australia cricket team, because they never beat anyone!"

  • What happened Ricky ... Well BOSS I've got 10 idiots under me. Aren't you lucky Ricky I've got 11 under me ;-) chuckle. So much for the Big Ben Joke ;-)

  • Ricky please don't give up your captaincy or retire because it will break my heart to see you leave, your the only one for the job, you should go down to atleast number 4-5 because in most of the recent tests you have been coming in as pretty much and opening batsmen when your not an opener. And your not the only one not the only one who has lost test matches, cricket it a team sport everyone contributes to a win and a loss. make a double ton like you did in TAS.

    Make us proud.

    <3 you alway

  • Hi from Wales, time will show him as a truly great captain,so enjoy a man in the autumn of a great career

  • @FrankieFoley00 you're in the wrong place than

  • @theuglyhairmonster

no. your stupid 'cause you like cricket and only stupids like cricket. lmao LAMEST 'sport' ever

  • @FrankieFoley00 yep thats alot of stupid people that like the worlds 2nd largest sport isnt it. you need to grow up a little and remember that because you dont like something dosent mean everyone else shouldnt and if you dont like cricket dont click on the fucking video and dont bother commenting

  • Justice - he has become an ass since last three years...he needed this...good!

  • oh fuck off ponting.

  • Can't blame Ponting that the Aussies don't have as much in the bag as usual, yeh still have a few gooduns but not as many good youngsters in the wings as is the norm either, could the Aussies be in the Great Cricket Wilderness for a generation or two........(put's tongue frimly back in cheek).....;)

  • he is just a cry baby! Time to go as captain rick the dick

  • Ricky is a real champion, that umpire thing that happened was out of pure frustration. Sure he should know what he can't do as a captain, but I still think Ricky is a great player, brilliant captain and a good chap.

  • beats me why he just doesnt stick to impressions. Culshaw is much better at that.

  • I have not been achieving what I wanted for the last 2 years. I truly feel for Ricky. At the end of the day, we all have to sit down and make solid plans that will help us achieve what we want. The rest is up to our hard work and Him.

  • ahhhhhhhhhh Rickyy we love you 4evaa

you best give your bestt for dis ashess

  • Fair play to him. I am absolutely delighted that England have rubbed their nose in it after years of humiliation and it warms the cockles of my heart to see them fail so badly but, Ricky is one of the great batsmen of his generation and he always faces the press and gives straight answers to what must be very difficult questions.

He is a bit of a whinger sometimes and his backchat to the umpires was uncalled for but despite his Ashes record, he has been good for Australian cricket.

  • Ponting u r the best u r reall no.1 leader n Australia still best team in the world I hope u will bounce back I'm an Indian but I proud on u r team

  • Ponting stop bi*ching to the umpires!!!

  • English fans should give him a break?...... yea and a proper hat!

  • Comment removed

  • Oh the poor man is nearly crying.

Well done England you wiped the Aussies butts for them. :-))

  • One thing you can always say about Ponting is that he's a good sport......oh no sorry that's wrong. Hahahahaha

  • i will always rate ponting

higher then waugh.he still is a

great captain and will need to stick with

him atleast till he builds a team!!!

  • hat's a bit big...

  • This is the first series i can remember watching as an england fan where i didnt fear ricky ponting in Bat...

  • THATS RT BIATCH!! you LOST!!! ah.. how I hate the aussies.. they have been bbloody awesome last few years.. esp this man.. just wont get out.. but thats it.. times up. boo yaah!!! they did teach you bitch! :-p

  • @laprbrfx ah must be that 738687346832 years of bitter dissappointment of losing building up there hey, you have fun with your ecstatic comenting while it lasts honey

  • @762SLR762 Don't forget his rant when he got run out in the Trent Bridge Test in 2005.

  • im english and however badly they played this series, you have to give ponting credit for the way he composes himself for the public

  • Comment removed

  • Ponting= a good player, a poor sportsman.

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSER!

  • I'm a proud Englishman, and despite Ponting (on more than one occasion) getting himself into hot water with the authorities and coming across as an angry and egotistical guy in so doing - I'll always remember him as being one of the best batsmen to have ever played the game, a determined, fiercely competitive cricketer, somebody who stood up to tough questions by the media and a tough son of a b1tch.

Australians should be proud to call him their captain - he's in a class almost by himself IMO.

  • Dis the cap Ricky is wearing belong to Don Bradman ?

If not, hopefully someone will get Ricky a new one.

  • Peter Siddle,,,Ricky Ponting,,Harold Bishop,,Rolf Harris,,U GUYS TOOK 1 HELLLL OF A BEATINGG

  • First class interview. He came across as open, honest and measured as well as a passionate guy. As an Englishman I think the negative comments made by others reflect more badly on them than they do on Ricky. Hope to see him back playing soon - best wishes to Ryan Harris too.

  • bout time English fans gave Pontitng a break he can come across the wrong way sometimes but he plays the game to the best of his ability and always puts the team before himself, i wish him all the best for the future!

  • I'm an Englishman and i have actually always really rated Ponting as a cricketer and an ambassador for the sport. i think the treatment he is getting from his own countrymen is disgusting after all he has helped your nation achieve through the years. over 12000 runs in Test cricket is not the record of somebody that is no good. Ponting has been made a scapegoat because England's cricket team are far superior to Asutralia's at this moment in time. Whatever happened to loyalty??

  • I would like to nominate Ricky Ponting as BBC Overseas Sports Personality of the Year for his superlative performances in this Ashes series and his splendid captaincy

  • Do you want the Urn back Aussie's?

Cos ya not gonna get it ;)

  • Australia have the best batsman Michael Clarke and will bounce back soon

  • im sorry but i wont give this guy any slack. he is a total twat, he isnt a nice guy he is just a full on twat. i dont dislike auzzies, the ashes to me is a game its a friendly rivalry theres no hard feelings, but i really REALLY do not like ponting, just a complete tard!

  • Good on ya, Ponting.

  • well done england

it makes me happy to see such a retarded captain make himself look like a fool on t.v.!!

  • @pokemon9505 he answered the questions as honestly and diplomatic as possible, and none of them were easy questions. he did far from make himself look foolish

  • Comment removed

  • @xLingyy someones jealous

  • @pokemon9505 Jealous of what?

    A. I am English so what i am stating is nothing to do with patriotism

    B. Your name is pokemon, you're a fucking baby

    C. I wouldn't be jealous of Indian players, because they are all awful + overrated

  • @xLingyy well say what you want, india worked their way to number 1, and couldnt have done it if their awful. And i dont see why you're starting an arguement with me, im happy that england beat australia too

  • @xLingyy Pssst, you put the '>' the wrong way round, you comment states that Ponting is worse than any Indian player. Though such generalisations are pretty pathetic IMO.

  • You gotta love smashin those mouthy cunts...BARMY ARMY!!!

  • @MrRyanF Jog on, ya prick. And before you start that little brain of yours wondering, yes, I am English, mate.

  • @zososierp Mug.

  • DID WE WIN???.....LOL........

  • you little mug ponting we spanked you all over nice one england

  • Cricket moves in cycles. Australia are at their lowest ebb in a long time, but they will recover. It's always sweet to beat though.

  • ther is no point playing the next match because if the series is drawn england retain the ashes!!!!!

  • Great to see England win but what I don't understand is that there is still a match to be played and if Australia win it they level the series. So how have England won the series - ok they may have won it until the next match - but if they lose the next match Australia will draw the series 2-2. Am I right?

    Ta

  • @blogger33 If the series is tied we still retain the ashes.

  • @blogger33 if the previous winner of the series draws, they retain the cup, or so ive been told

  • @13point9

    cup?

its the ashes URN you fool

  • @kingofthedammed yes this is true, was using the term 'cup' merely to mean 'prize' as its more universal to the casual watch/ follower than urn...

  • @blogger33 Well we Poms make up our own rules. We dont win the ashes much, so we decided that if we win we win but if we draw we win as well ! lol

  • So refreshing to hear an aussie captain admit they can learn things from England.

  • The problem is who'd replace him? Clarke has been woeful as well and there arent too many other leaders out there.

  • Give the guy a break. I reckon he will probably step down after the world cup, no matter the result. What benefit is berating him with negativity?

    Hussey for captain!

  • Honest and bullish. For all his pantomime villain-ness he has one hell of a legacy but it is being eroded by poor form, a poor team and desperate captaincy. He could carry on but retiring would stem the downward flow.

  • To be honest after living in both countries I am scratching my head as to why England played so well. The only kids playing cricket for the last 20 years in England are the Pakis. Unlike in Australia you never see suburban cricket centres or kids playing cricket in the parks any more it's very much a minority sport. So hats off to England I thought the days of winning the ashes were over for good.

  • @ALBIONTYKE So I'm from Pakistan? Our kids leagues are strong, you maybe need to look harder?

  • @theipascy Didn't say you were from Pakistan. The term Pakis refers to Asian kids living in England who also support Pakistan at cricket despite their birth place. The kids that do play are trained well, but its no way as popular as 20 plus years ago. You only have to look at old newspapers to see the amount of local cricket leagues we once had compared to now.

  • Ponting needs to step down as captain i think.

  • Warne, McGrath, Gilchrist, Hayden and the rest carried Ponting for years as a captain. Was always a great batsman though.

  • Rickys really not a bad bloke, he comes accross as a bit of a tit sometimes but I think he plays fair and hard

english fans should give him a break IMO

  • @gillri Hes sound but hes going to get a bit of shit isnt he? I think the aussie media are giving him alot more than english fans.

  • @gillri I agree, he's passionate and gives a straight answer. And thats from a pom

  • @gillri Except when he is berating the umpire (and not for the first time)

  • @gillri Nahhhhhhhhhhh he deserves it

  • @gillri i think it's more a matter of the Australians giving him a hard time. Ponting isn't not on the English's minds, the fact we've retained the Ashes is. it's been the Aussies that have been making a scapegoat of Ponting. Ponting has always been a great cricketer

  • @gillri and the australian media ... but i certainly agree with you. The thing that ricky had against him was that unlike Waugh and Taylor, he had a losing side whilst being out of form.... at least those two had their team performances taking some of the attention off their personal form. in this regard (as well as having a side with much less ability then he is used to) it has been a lot more difficult for him post - warne, mcgrath, martyn, langer, gilly etc.

  • @gillri include Indian fans too

  • Aussie fans didn't show up...and neither did their team!

  • Sometimes, and this is one of those times, he loses like a man. Fair play.

  • A poor showing from Ausralia takes the edge off retaining the ashes, but it still feels good !

  • HA HA !! No seriously m8s, U were fucking racked off this Series, & England have now retained the ashes in Australia, so forgive us for gloating, You lot did it for Years, Now its our go.

  • they disgraces the emblem and the baggy green with that effort in the test. they should be apologising to the australian cricket fans

  • Calm and graceful even when subject to a lot of criticism...
