So here's the scoop! We were at East Chattanooga this past weekend and rode Missionary Ridge with 610. The guy who sold us tickets said that hopefully in 2011, NS will be adding more excursions, including 4501!! He also said the boiler survey went very well. When we got to the back shop, we saw 4501 outside the shop. No rails were attached to the wheels. Her cab was painted black, the boiler had some kind of reddish primer, and the front of the boiler was still off. Let's hope this comes true!

to help pull so its less strain on the steam engine cause the parts for these things do not exist if the break, they would have to make it, and tvrr bought it and i heard it cracked the boiler
do not exist since when did these so called parts not exsist?
it's called they can be made, just there expecive ass hell to replace them because the majority of them have to be made with people working with machines to create what is needed
To help power electricity for the lights, and other electrical paths on the train, as well as help with the braking, since diesels can use their motor blocks in the wheels to help slow them down.
No. The diesels were there as helpers and protection since 4501 isn't that powerful. They don't have HEP generators, so it has nothing to do with electricity for the cars.
Southern 4501 is one of the many "fallen Flags" many fallen flags include Norfolk Western's 4-8-4 611 2-6-6-4 1218 and not to mention Frisco 4-8-2 1522
