  • wow its sad that a lil 8 year old boy feels guilty

  • Less corruption could save them.

  • I just cant bear to watch this sad video. feel sorry to see them..

  • To better understand the background of this poverty, everyone should read up on the history of Cambodia and its surrounding regions, specifically the Khmer Rouge. This HOLOCAUST (yes, it is a MASS destruction of life and genocide that surprisingly few people know about) was FUELED by the United States and Western World. To understand and acknowledge this horrible history should spur a movement to right the wrongs the "developed world" has committed.

  • Alan,

    The work that you do is amazing. Your heart is big enough to take all the hurt away from these fortunate children. We understand what you do since we also do your kind of work in Laos. In 2003, we took 12 children from the dump in Phnom Penh. They all study and live at New Day Cambodia now. We will be visiting the girls in May 2010. I wonder if it would be ok if we visited you and your children.

  • mbatang, would it be ok, to post this video to my face book? thanks

  • congratulations on your work, i see street kids everywhere in Phnom Penh, wish i could do more than give handouts. they need long term fix not short term , breaks your heart to see them and i just hope they can find a future.

  • I am in envy of you Alan. You see massive heart breaking things yet at the same time you see such wonder, purity and strength in these little men and women each day. I say men and women because they are unlike any children i have ever met. Peace mate i hope to be able to do what you are doing one day it would be a privilege.

  • This movie is a eyeopener. It's a shame to see how distructive money is and is keeping the world of mankind out of balance!

  • It is too heart broken to see these children are like that. I wish I could do something. If I like Oprah, with a lot of money, I will raise these children myself.

    I detest their parents who brought them to this ugly world. If they knew they could not afford to raise them properly, they should not brought them to this world.

  • I am heading to Cambodia next month and I will buy food and will stop by the dumpster. I don't feel right, because I motivate them to go there, but I want to them a good meal.

  • I wanted to say thank so much for letting us aware of it. I am so heart broken. I wish I could zoom these kids and put them in a better place. I hate the parents who knew they were poor yet they still brought these children to this ugly world.

    I feel so ashamed that I throw food away when I can't finish it..

  • Why are some of you so pissed off about filming this documentary and filming the kids crying. The media is the one of the best weapon against poverty. The world has to understand and see it. Charity group such as The Global Child don't get money from the freak'in sky. The have to at least present themselves to the world, so that some like you and I and can at least pitch a dollar or two to help. If you don't like my comment ..then well "FUCK YOU"..and anyone that even looks like you.

  • no child on earth, no matter what country should have to live that way. I know there are poor children here in America, but I don't think any so poor they have to resort to picking garbage. God bless these young innocent kids.

  • GOD BLESS YOU GUYS!!! I would like to make a difference in this world too.

  • Sad to see those kids..I'm glad someone care for all those poor kid..God Bless You...

  • i feel so sad for those kids!!!theyre so young :(

  • anybody knows the name of the song and who sings it? is nice

  • where do the children play?

    by Cat Stevens

  • Lord buddha will help your children.

  • you mean jesus and god will help.

  • yes..in thailand have many poor children too.

  • Oh yeah where the hell are they now bro. I was there in feb for about 35 days and for those kids there it is pure hell.

  • im a chef from new zealand and i think iv lived a selfish existense, i want2 know how i can help hands on...i dont want watch children from another part of the world suffer while i carry on with my insignificant life

  • Hun Sen has to help improve the living standard for the poors. This government is full of corruptions. They care nothing much about the majority, but themselves and a few elites.

  • Thailand government too.they don't care anything.Lord buddha will help your children.

  • America doesn't do any good invading anyone...

    But I do believe Cambodia govt needs to step it up

  • There are about 100 million homeless children spending their nights outside every night. Children´s villages could be built through SOS-Children´s Villages, to take care of all those 100 million children and give them a good home to a cost of 2.5 trillion USD. That´s the same cost as for the US wars in the middle-east. It´s time for this change to take place. The resources exist.

  • The atrocity of children fending for themselves in the real world should not be happening. Of course one can blame the PARENTS fo these children... but we can only blame OURSELVES for not doing anything about this horrible situation. Canada, America, and other countries have such an abundance that it is their duty (yes duty) to help those in Cambodia! God Bless Cambodia!

  • i havea comment for years billions and billions of dollars have been spent to feed these childrenwhy are they still starving to death wheres the money gone you thieves will pay for decieving people out of their money

    ~~~
    There are many people in Cambodia you know. Billions of dollars aren't enough to feed millions of people for the rest of there life. Plus the money is used for medication & shelter too. Maybe clothes too.
  • magicact - it's not fair to say that about American children. Same as these Cambodian kids are born into their poverty.. the American kids are born to their priviledges.. it's not their fault.. next time make a more logical analysis..
  • you are a beautiful being my friend. thank you for opening your heart and mind to these children and instilling hope in their lives. it is truly inspiring and makes my heart a little at ease.
  • what=
  • After spending a month in Cambodia I must say I saw more smiles from these children in poverty than I see from the self centered brats in America. Typical. America spends billions dropping bombs on these people and then tries to "save" them. Now America kills Iraqi children by the thousands. God Bless.
  • ingnore this stupid reactions!
    where in cambodia i can find clobal kids?
  • Click where it says (more) under "About This Video" above right and you will find a link to their website and contact information.
  • I think its a good vidio having just come back from cambodia BUT while the goverment there is the most corrupt goverment in the world what hope do these kids have.
    When thier president is a former commander onf the KEMER ROUGE (POLL POT REGIME) Look at the monies that Canada and south Korea are pouring into the country OH yeah AND america
    mainley for development of the tourist industry. Phnom Pehn will in a few years time be identical to BANGKOK
  • i havea comment for years billions and billions of dollars have been spent to feed these childrenwhy are they still starving to death wheres the money gone you thieves will pay for decieving people out of their money
  • Free birth control, free birth control, free birth control. All over the world impoverished abused kids will continue to suffer so long as parents are unable to limit births to those they can afford.
  • dat is soo ashame.. luckily i was born in da u.s but im always willing to help..:(
  • Then help.There are hundreds and hundreds of western people there doing the work these poor kids need.Pick a couple and "Donate".Talk is cheap and dos nothing.
  • I Have met these kids first hand, in Phnom Penh and in an orphanage there. The kids there are absolutely amazing. We filmed a documentary there. Just like the kid in the shot where he was crying. 4 minutes into her telling her story she broke down. Absolute amazing lives
  • WTF!? U disgust me! WTH is amazing about a child breaking down and crying while you are taping it and then showing it to others? You sinck´n me...
  • My comment before was meant for noobtubefilm. Not to this filmmaker.
  • she was telling her story. to publicise it to the world. to show the horrors of what they go through. We didn't see her crying then point a camera in her face.
  • No, but you didn´t turn it off either.
    I don´t think it´s necessary to show a crying child for other people to understand what misery is. So you went back home to your comfortable life, showing your film to others while sipping a nice drink, meanwhile millions and millions of poor people suffer continously. Instead of buying that fancy camera you should have spent the money on the girl and her family, such as education, housing or whatever is most urgent at the time.
  • Do you know what. Wasn't my camera. I was with a media group from school. If you as so much understood what we did. I myself cried for 3 hours after I left the orphanage, the impact the kids made on me was amazing. I'm sure to go back there because it was amazing. And Please dont assume what i did or did not do. And you, yourself have never been to cambodia have you?
  • That is really nice that all these people that considerate about Cambodia. That is really thoughful of u guys.
  • Good to see some sensible and thought through responses to the video. Makes a change from reading some of the ill considered and negative comments.
    No, I had nothing to do with making the video.
  • justthereforfun1
    What I meant to say, there are many child prostition in Cambodia. I saw the report on CNN. They were Vietnames children in Cambodia on the report. Street chidren are Cambodian children 100% In a humane society, No chidren of any races or ethnics should be begging or prostiting. It is unfair and unfortunate.
  • Saw it on CNN then it must be true.
    Go visit and see the truth for your self.
  • usakhru.I have been to Cambodia myself.Don't need to listen to American media.Over all the Khmer people are lovely wonderful family people.You have no understanding what it's like to be starving to death in a country where goverment doesn't care or help the people.
  • usakhru and timkiwi, you are both idiots. These are not Vietnamese kids, nor are they speaking Vietnamese. Also, the "ethnic" Vietnamese kids trafficked to Cambodia are mostly of Khmer Krom, Cham or other minorities in Vietnam who are severely oppressed and marginalized in the Vietnamese society - it is very hard for them to get jobs, decent education, etc. Regardless, this is an issue that hurts us all to see, whether in Cambodia or Vietnam.
  • The truth is that there are more than 15 millions hungry children here in the U.S. More than 87 millions without high school diploma and about 6 milliions people live on the streets. Thats the truth and it's in America. Shame.
  • USA Number 1 in : murders, rapes , teen pregnancy's, most school shootings,fat people.
    And the USA wants to be the roll model for the world. Cambodia Is a nice place nice people. Look past all the anti Cambodia videos you see on youtube most are backed buy the US media.
  • very interesting--yes Cambodia people are very nice and happy something the easterner need to remember
  • wow good to see a good American tell the way it is ---Come on BUSH look after your own before causeing war with others
  • great job
  • what?
  • These are camboduan people and im cambodian!
  • Hola (Hello) I´m Bárbara from Argentina, I´d travelled to cambodia and it´s terrible the childrens condition there, they are working skinny with sad eyes. VERY diferent than vietnam children, that have foot, a roof, school and happy eyes. Sory my bad english. I just think that we showld complain less and help a little more, with money, a smile, anything we can give them. The situation in argentina is not very diferent.
  • I just watched a 6 part series on yotube called "Cambodia (Year Zero" I highly recomend watching this.
  • I posted this in the wrong window. sorry
  • They are speaking Vietnamese and not Cambodian because they are ethnic Vietnamese, mostly from the Delta. They are trafficked to Cambodia where there is no law and order.
    The treatment of ethnic Vietnamese in Cambodia is the real reason this is happening and that America put 24 years of economic sanctions on Vietnam, started Pol Pot then bombed Cambodia into the Stone Age.
  • The good news is that Vietnam has the second fastest economic growth in Asia. every village in the Delta has an internetshop now they can read and learn about the dangers of trafficking. Search you tube, "Cambodia (Year Zero)" and learn a little history.
  • orenasi:Your exactly right.Unfortunatly that is exatly what happens and how it is there.
  • How could a country descend so low, search you tube, "Cambodia (Year Zero)" and learn.
  • Yes, Year Zero provides some reasons for street children in Cambodia. But Cambodia is not alone in its population of street children. There are 150 million streetkids worldwide in over 90 countries. There is little international response to their desperate circumstances. They have no voice, no power. Devoid of rights and even of their identities, these children can only scavenge in garbage like dogs . As long as this is so and we do nothing, we are all Khmer Rouge.
  • all khmer rouge?? The khmer rouge was a viscious communist killing machine. I hope we're not that!
  • Yes, I've probably overstated the case a little. But look at it from a streetkid's point of view - whether you die by a vicious communist killing machine or through the indifference of a prosperous capitalist democrat probably doesn't make a whole lot of difference.
  • Okay I understand. You probably know this, but the USA (and others) sends billions a year in aid to Cambodia, but the corrupt government and NGO's steal most of it. It's a shame. I was in Phnom Penh this summer and I saw the corrupt elite driving their Land Cruisers, paid for by others. So it's not just indifference....the money is sent there, and then....
  • @mbatang
    great point
  • How could things descend so low, search you tube, "Cambodia (Year Zero)" and learn.
  • The real crime is people having child after child when they can't even feed them selves then throw thew kids away because they can not feed them.Always like this in extremely poor countries.Poor kids.I have been there.Broke my heart
  • one question and one question only .. why are the children picked? why dont they all have an even chance?
  • Great documentary! My boyfriend and I are both first generations Cambodians. He's majoring in Anthropology and is planning on doing some studies in Cambodia in a couple of yrs. As for me, I am planning on helping children have a better education. I think it's really great what you guys are doing and I cannot wait to be a part of it. Keep doing what you're doing, and don't be surprise if you see us visiting your organization in a couple of years!!!
  • In the Phillipines, generations of children grew up in the getto slums on the outskirt of garbage dump sites. They little grew up making their living off of the garbages. In the Phillipines, 1% (yes ONE %) of populution owning 90% of the land.
    Cambodia is poor and had been suffering a lot, but this is a new low that I have ever witnessed in Cambodia.
  • I am always inspired when people commit such selfless acts!
    Thank you for giving these innocent children a second chance at life...
  • When I was in PP on sisowat quay, one of the main riverside tourist street, a kid selling them lonelyplanet books sold me one for $3 and I jumped on that deal then he says $5 and I said too late you said $3. Then some man got mad at the kid, so I felt bad and gave him another $2... JK i never gave him another $2. And at nite there was Single mothers sleepign with theres babys/young kids, I wanted to give them something but didnt want to wake them up.
  • The cambodian government shd now focus on developing the country, boosting up the economy. Tourism is the best industry to help the cambodian economy at this moment!!!
  • Alan, seeing all the kids before I was able to spend time with them has really hit me... but I know exactly how vibrant and amazing they are now, please give them my love!
  • Congratulations the Global child you did a great job to support those kids i have been to Cambodia many time every time i went there the begging people almost every where compare to in Bangkok a few people did that and they are not following you every where that you went it's so sad to see people still hunger in this world we are in United States dump food almost every meal that we ate.
  • I can not understand how the very few rich Cambodians just take take take and care nothing for the poor.Wasn't what Pol Pot and his devil sodiers did to the Khmer people enough As HochMnhLaCho says.Where is the love for you humanity?
  • What have these children done that they have to live their life like this ? Where is equality, Where is the love of humanity ?
  • I love them and I'm not Khmer.I give to 3 orginaztions over there helping them from America.Also bought food for them when there till I was almost broke.There own goverment doens't even care about there own poor people.
  • Nice job GLOBAL CHILD!!!!!Congratulations from Brazil.
  • me cambodian but i was born somewhere else!
  • god bless our nation, help free us all from this terrible disaster.
    help support them, have you ever been in that kind of situation? if you laugh at them then, one day u will be one that suffer. Never laugh at the poor, if you are rich. Never look down on them. treat everyone fairly and equally. They are not a joke, they are human. Please considering that.
  • Land encroachment from east and west(Thailand and Vietnam) poverty, hunger, orphans, homeless, demoralization, Vietnamization, corruption, rural land victims, the sicks, the AIDS, shall the United Nation put a strong punishment on Vietnamese installed government(CPP) in Cambodia? Where are the law and humanity for these innocents?
  • UN can't do anything if our goverment still needs only money from China,vietnam,thailand. All these counties don't take care of khmer people, only their interests.
  • Looks like they're progressing. Good food in those dumps.
  • LOL. Thats fucked up, yet, hilarious.
