  • Sorry this is incredibly long, I just want to know your opinion

  • the muscle along the inner back of my knee, and I can't straighten out my knee, or bend it without being in terrible pain, and the muscle is so tight it actual restricts my movement. It's very swollen, but the doctor said that's the worst I could do is make it swollen and prolong the healing time. So do you think I could have treally messed it up, I've been walking with a limp since, because of the restriction and I get shooting pains along the side of my knee into my calf,

  • I'm 14 and I had this surgery recentley, on december 30th. I had tore it in a basketball game, when I was playing for my school. The doctor said he had never seen a tear so big in someone so young. I went back to walking sooner becuase it was beyond repair. I also went back to basketball maybe 3 weeks into my healing time, my next appointment is monday and he said I could go back to playing this following tuesday, so I went back 2 weeks early. While playing I fell on my knee and hurt

  • My surgery went well and apparently there was a hole is it disconnecting it from my ligament. My knee is very tight and I can't bend it. Should i try a little bit every day to bend it or not. I got gas b4 the IV and I am still very dizzy and nautilus. Do stitches hurt when u get them taken out? And why no junk food?

  • Hey I am 13 years old and I just found out I'm having this surgery this tues! 3 days!! I am a dancer and it is the most important thing in my whole life! Will I ever be 100% again? I have a weird question but can I wear underwear during surgery? And dies an IV hurt?

  • @MissyFizzle sorry about this late response. I hope your surgery went very well.

Recovery is very important. Remember, you need to follow doctor's direction. Not moving too much and eat more nutritious food (no junk food). Since you are young, you'll heal a lot faster then most of us. Let me know how you are doing in a month. Oh, keep your knee away from the cold winter.

  • @jjslens what does the cold winter do to you if if you have this injury?

  • did they put u to sleep when they did this?

  • I haven't seen a specialist yet, but I'm sure I've torn my left knee meniscus for the third time, and I'm almost certain that my right knee has a tear, also. The second time I tore the left, the specialist, who had been practicing for 25 years at the time, said he didn't think it was torn; I assured him that it was torn. After he did the surgery, he informed me that pieces of meniscus were floating around inside the joint. I love playing basketball, but it may be time to finally give it up.

  • Your Lucky. I had a sports injury and it turned out to be an UNSTABLE meniscus and it took 6 months to heal and just tore it sitting at my desk again!

  • Im goin to hv surgery for dis sometime mid nxt week does anyone kno

If it will affect me when football season strts

  • I am gonna have surgery on my meniscus in 2 weeks. How soon were you able to walk on your leg? How long does it take for you to be able to run? If you can tell me everything I need to know about this surgery, that would be awesome.

  • @grimmlock42

how was your surgery? sorry for this late reply. I hope you are not running yet. But you should take time to rest for complete recovery. your body will tell you when it's ready to run. it took me over a year after many trials and errors.

  • @jjslens Had the surgery on June 1st. I waited 15 years to have this surgery so you could imagine all the wear and tear. Tore it in high school, just turned 31 two months ago. Had the stitches taken out today. I drove for the first time today. I'm 6'2" about 275lbs. It was hard as hell to get in and out of my car. Goin back to work tomorrow and just gonna take it easy. I start therapy on Wednesday. Is your knee back to 100% or does it still bother you?

  • @grimmlock42 I did surgery my mensicus for like 6 weeks ago. I had to walk with crutches 6 weeks after the surgery and I have to train my knee up. I cant go longboarding for like 8 months. So my whole summer and year is kinda fucked. I hate meniscus!! yeye :P

  • @Murud15 The first month and a half was horrible. It's now been 2 months to the day and I still have a little limp, but I'm able to walk up the stairs one foot per step instead of having to use both feet per step. Pain level is about a 3 or 4 instead of a 10 like it was the first month and a half. All in all 2 months after surgery, you're finally able to get your mobility back. Not ready to run yet, but I'm not that far away. I'll keep in touch. Maybe you can give a few pointers down the road.

  • @grimmlock42 Yeah i know. I can now walk up the stairs to. Finally i can get some freedom. I can't run for like 7 months from now, but im feeling better for each day that passes by. Can't wait for the day that my Doctor tells me that im able to run again.

sorry for my bad english, im from norway:P

  • I'm having this surgery tomorrow.

  • i got this surgery done 2day took 40mins , walk outa the hospital 3-4 hours later no wheelchair r crutches which was good , i was doing boxing when i thor my cartilage , id wake up in the mornings fine with no pain but as the day went on i had alot of pain when i squatted i thought my knee was going 2 pop out of my skin ha pain was bad but hopeful it will b fine after the surgery,

  • i just got from the doctor i gotta go under this surgery, any things i should know from your experience? i would like to have as many things that would happen after or during or before thanks :D

  • sorry for the delay replying. As far as my experience:

    - Before - I didn't know any better so I didn't prepare for it

    - During - I got knocked out by the drug, can't say that I remembered anything

    - After - Just kinds of funny to look at my scars, thinking "how was it done again?"

Got to take care of your knee even years after healing. I still feel tingling in my knee and sore during cold months. I always have a heating pad handy.

  • Im two weeks out of getting mine trimmed. I can bike, leg press, etc. Cant run. Only thing that really hurts is going down stairs. There's some clicking... all normal?

  • mines the same i hear a constant clicking noise

  • That was normal for me 2

  • I tried not to think about the clicking noise. that reminds me of my TMJ. Yeah, it's normal. You can eliminate that by heat compress.

As your pain going down stairs, I had that before, too. I learned a very special way to land my foot - very slowly shift weight from toes to heel using my calf muscle. Learned it from a ballet dancer. ;-)

  • I have to get this surgery doe here in 2 weeks anything to worry about? do they put you out all the way or what? all new to me.

    any advise?

  • depending on the seriousness of the tear will determine what you can do. the front of my knee was obliterated so i was off my knee for 3 months with no full weight and any movement made me passout. and also the position of the tear (inside or outside of the knee) and more often then not they use Gen anaesthetic but occasionally an epidural.

  • yea im gettin this surgery in less than a month. fortunately i have heard all good things about this surgery. it is very easy and painless and in some cases people were back doing normal in less than a week. my basketball coach squatted his 1st day back, though it was very stupid of him.

yes, they do put you all the way out. if u are just getting ur miniscus trimmed, than thats good. but getting it sewn is a very foolish surgery considering ur out for 6 months.

  • hey, i've had this surgery done on me TWICE and the pain after the surgery depends on what they do to you. The first i had mine, they had to sow the tear, which took a lot longer to recover from and more painful after. The second time the had to shave the corner of the meniscus, which is faster to recover and a LOT less painful. Hope this helped you, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask. : )

  • i dont know if i torn my meniscus but how can you tell if you did cuz i went to the doctors and they said i might have torn it but i didnt feel a pop and i could move my knee normally and its on the outside of my knee.

  • The same thing happened to me. I never noticed it hurt until I had to tell my mom that every time I squated, my knees hurt and then we went to the doctor and I had 2 surgeries done on me. It never popped or hurt enough to not even move. I mean, I could still do anything with my knees but I knew something was wrong.

  • Comment removed

  • so is it a bad thing if you dont feel it pop?

and the other thing is cuz it only hurts on my left knee on the outside is that worse and if i do get a surgery will i recover from it fast or? and did you get 2 surgeries on both knees or on one?

  • I had 2 surgeries on the right knee, on the left side of the right knee. Like I said in my other comment, it depends on what they do to it

  • You have to have a MRI, Im a competative cheerleader and i recently tore mine. I go back on January 11th o see if i have to have surgery.

  • hi there ive had 3 surgerys. the first time i had the same as u, but on the same day i was leaving hospital and fell over and snaped a screw, and the pain from that was imense un bearable. the next year they had to remove the floating screw. after that i was pain free. until i was kneeling in my car 4 weeks ago when the cartlidge had torn again. i had my surgery 2 days after my consultation where they removed my cartlidge completley now there is alot of clicking and i now need 2 more surgerys!!!

  • I just had my surgery today, i fell fine and can walk on it if i want...but obviously will stay off my feet.

  • lol, i was same like u... but the temporany stiffness hurts right?

  • ive just had my left knee done it took over an hour i was also knocked out, and within 20 mins after recovery i was walking it hurt a little though, two weeks later ive just had stiches out and im back to work, im seeing consultant in 4 weeks for check up hopefully im 100% by then hope this helps anyone under going the op

  • Im Having This Done Within 8 Months, If I Get This Done Does This Mean I Wont Beable To Do Ice Skating Or Trampolining?

  • Trampolining?

I had no clue that that was a word...

But probably, I'm getting mine Wednesday and I should be at Skateboarding quality in about 1 1/2 - 2 months.

  • well i tore both miniscu and they were torn for a year and i did gymnastics with out having any pain in them..but apperently they are both torn.so we gotta plan the surgery!

  • i managed to tear my medial meniscus in my left knee and the fucking nhs said its not severe enough to have surgery on even though i cant sprint or fully squat. this shit has ruined my rugby career, whats the point in having the nhs

  • One more thing, I plan on practicing Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for mixed martial arts competitions in the near future. If I have this surgery does that mean that I can't do these things. I also need to run A LOT to have superior endurance.

  • hey im 16 years old and I hurt the left side of my left knee while running about 2 weeks ago. Today I tried running on it because it felt fine, but while I was running the pain came back. The strange part about it is that I can walk, go up/down stairs, squat, and even kick my punching bag without any pain. If anyone has this problem or knows what is wrong please reply. Thankyou.

  • Hey even i have damaged my meniscus while playing. Even i can walk, run, squat also no swelling. But still i am carrying the pain every time. and the doctor told me to undergo surgery for this. Am i the right person to undergo the surgery. Please advise.

  • Drink Milk? lol

  • just got mine done yesterday :/ its cool but hurts

  • Hey I just had mine done yesterday. I had two tears and a lot of inflammation. I am super soar as I have doc orders to not bend it and not put weight on it. I got a lot shaved off and my knee popped this morning when I rolled out of bed. That was very painful. But the drugs help and I am looking forward to recovery. Thanks for posting this video. game me an idea of what was to come.

  • Thanks for your work of editing and posting this. I just had this surgery for two meniscus tears and am walking without crutches two days after surgery. Praise the Lord! Larry

  • Thank God for this advanced medical technology. We're very grateful. Remember, maintenance is the key to avoid reoccuring. I had a friend who was a yard man. He had his FISRT arthroscopic before me. Then, another one a year ago. So, take care, y'all.

  • cool i had the same surgery like just a month ago. it took like 2 hrs and i feel asleep halfway. lol i was so scared at first but after you could see the insides i was like thats cool

  • ohh!! i idid not look at the title its miniscus

    my bad!

  • what kind of surgery is this ,is it acl mcl, pcl, lateral or medial minicus

  • Thats fast-forwarded, right? I just had that surgery, and my doctor used an hour. Man it looks cool inside there =D

  • yes, my original footage was fast forwarded and last about 45 minutes. I removed some boring scenes. I spent 2 hours to make it right. It was very interesting experience. Thanks for watching my video.

  • it's called arthroscopic, not ortho-scopic : P

  • thanks, it's been awhile to hear that word.

  • anu ba yan!!!nduling na lng kami dito hindi nmn maintindihan yan

  • yeah, one day I'll get a translator to figure out what you are saying here.
