i have never made a hat. all i have done is scarves and blankets but this is the most incredible video ever and the easiest one to understand. THANK YOU!!! you made it easy and simple to understand I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!!
i have noticed that a lot of people start the hat differently. is there a difference? i have seen videos where they start with the rim and move all the way inside.
Haha.......she's spamming us all.....each video she puts up she gets more hits - and more so if she shows ONE ROW on each video!! WHAT A BLATANT SPAMMER..
Thank you so much for posting these videos you helped me learn to crochet. This was so easy to understand. I finished my first hat the other day for my little girl. It turned out great! Thanks again. :) (I used needle size G/6-4.25mm my hat turned out fantastic)

to anyone watching this video, you /have/ to use the same needle shes using or you wont get the same product in the end, anything bigger and you just get a big toilet seat cover lookin thing.....
Is this hat about a child size? Beacuse im trying to make an adult hat and it keeps turning itno a beanie, ive started over many times. :O please help.
This is about learning to crochet a hat. Not how to crochet from scratch. There is no need to go so slow if viewers have taken the time to learn how to 'chain', 'single crochet' etc etc. Once you know the basics, you can come back to this video and understand better. That's what I did.
Oh, and there's a pause button just in case you REALLY struggle.
@jax3294 how much slower can she go? This is a great video. I've never touched a crochet needle before b/c I knit, and of all of the videos I've watched, hers is easiest to understand. Your hostility is a little unnecessary. I'm just saying =\.
great video very easy and im a beginner its not hard at all. my verion of this hat was with dk wool and 6mm hook not bad but not as holey as this one. i want to get it like the one in the vid.
I followed all of the videos to make this hat. Thank you! You worked at a slow, even pace and explained each step throughout. This hat was my second attempt at crochet- my first being a scarf- and you made it easy from start to finish. I look forward to more tutorials from you! :-)

Was i taught wrong? I was taught that when you make the slip stich the tail should make the stich looser and the working string should make it tighter. hers is the oposite. I make crochet hats but mine are nothing like these (good or bad thing i wonder?).
Your videos are WONDERFUL! You explain it so clearly and the camera is consistently focused on your work. THANK YOU!! I hope you continue to do more videos!
I made one of my daughters a hat using these instructions and after the border I used the method for adding width shown in the first few videos then doing a count of 1,2,1,2,1,3 double stitch crochets...then one more row of the 1,2 count and it made a cute little flower petal looking brim. She loves it and I'm so grateful for these videos. Thanks again!
A++ For the gal who step by step helped me make a hat. I followed her for 4 hours till I finished it...pauseing quit alot...haha. Dont know her name but she made the blue hat with the green border...she explained well...could see what she was doing nice and clear...Great job...Hope to see you on other crocheting projects....Wanda Blairsville Pa
Thanks for this video. I've been trying to crochet for a year now and this I just couldn't understand by reading the instructions. But, watching this video has made the difference. Now I can crochet my children the hats they have been asking for. Do you have any videos on how to crochet mittens? Again, thanks sooooo much!!!
This is by far the best tutorial. Its so easy to understand!

It's also possible to start with a magic circle. That way you don't have a small little gap up at the top of the hat.

What size crochet hook is this? I used a 6.5MM and its wavy not flat...
sindanarie 2 years ago
i think you should use 5 mm crochet stick.. that's what i use and isn't .6.5 mm a liitle to big to make it flat?
and also here a tip to make it flat you usually put it through the middle. right? but to make it look nicer you put to the top hole!

Also a good technic is to start by measuring around the head for the desired size and taking away until you get to the top... so bottom to top.

that's just showing how to make a circle with the foundation row. A hat has nothing to do with that video
