I'm not a Publicist, so I don't have to be good at making commercials, nor a "visual genius". But I am a consumer. I love Maltesers. And I find this commercial really silly, even grotesque. It gives me no desire to buy Maltesers, not at all. So you've got your explanation, as a consumer I think this is a bad commercial.

there was an unused version filmed with two men, but decided not to be used, they felt it may be saying , if you eat maltesers you are gay,
