  • Sittin in the front row, that's a paddlin

  • thats incorrect

  • I think this will help for kayaking

  • @PavePaws she looks like a lesbian to me. I can't begin to imagine what it would be like to be beaten by paddles by a lesbian. Maybe she isn't drinking from the furry cup but it appears that way to me.

  • Sorry but if you're doing a video WHILE in a class,

    1) Do a sound and sight check

    2) Sit in the middle seat of the audience

I feel like im in a AA meeting on break and im peering into other classes

  • I can't take a woman/man hybrid who talks to empty chairs seriously, sorry.

  • @onlywhenpissed

Would you want to be in the front row during a paddle demo?

    SMACK SMACK SMACK

  • There at the first aide...

  • i know i go to kayak lessons and my arms are tired too

  • Camera quality is deceiving, but Amazingly informative!!!!!

  • excellent. where is the rest of it though? :)

  • the reason the front row is empty is nobody wants a paddle in the face.

  • Excellent demo, very well yet simply explained.

  • Boy Mixer I agree. Really great explanation. Thank you. I hope you have more videos on the subject.

  • Excellent, thank you

  • Probably the best instruction I have seen yet. Thanks

  • I think she started flirting with some girl in the audience. Got herself all flustered with belly buttons, piercing and bells.

  • snooze... i appreciate the effort to share this important information, but this is too boring to follow

  • This technique if primarily for longer distance; i think it used to be called "impulse-sway" in flatwater racing. Check out the BCU Coaching video under Canoe Slalom Technique Library for a faster technique.

  • Great video.

Well done I liked the fact your elbows hardly moved as well.

  • No wonder my arms get so tired.

  • this is ok for casual paddling

for anything speedy you need to have a vertical paddle

  • Yeah but you can't sprint for long distances- shes talking about touring style. Thats a touring kayak behind her.

  • Marathon technique is more similar to sprint than it is to the technique described here and certainly allows for long distance.

That said, this technique is far more efficient than bicycling, and race technique with winged paddles takes a lot longer to get used to because of the higher arm position which is very difficult to maintain to start with.

  • @pamlico140 sorry for the huge delay! That was the point I was making though; a lot of people see race technique as hard work, but a proper marathon technique is more efficient than this and is more similar to sprint. I can quite happily use a high arm race technique to paddle 35 miles in under 6 hours.

  • Great tips! I needed this! Can't wait to get back into the water this spring! Thanks!

  • It's not difficult for experts to demonstrate proper beautiful paddle-stroke techniques. However it's very difficult even for very experienced professionals to teach people how and let them be able to do that. This lady's instruction doesn't seem very successful for me, cause she teaches only what she's doing but nothing about the common mistakes people make or tips to avoid common mistakes something like that.

  • isnt that the lady from "Practical Kayaking"?? Thats an excellent instructional Sea Kayaking DVD.

  • yeah. shes a pro kayaker

  • Exactly what I needed - thanks!

  • Excellent instruction. Thank you very much.

  • I see so many paddlers on our local lakes "bicycling" and have tried to explain this power stroke to others when away from the water. Now I can direct them to this video. Thanks so much.

  • thanks for the smarts lady , you sound like a really good teacher

  • same here^

  • Awesome - thank you for posting this!! I'm going kayaking for the first time very soon.

  • thanks for the vid very helpful.

  • Very helpful. Also learn to build up the small of your back.

  • I needed to see this! Thank you for posting.

  • is this for sea kayaking or sprint kayaking? cause sprint kayaking technique is comletly different

  • I wish I'd seen this before I did a lot of kayaking.

  • espero q eso sea la tecnika de kayak d mar porque como sea la de k-1 vamos apañados...
