Parts of this film was a spoof of SONG OF THE SOUTH. The film was pulled after its premier due to protests by Al Sharpton until much of Barry White's "racist references and vulgar" dialogue was replaced by actor Ben Gage on the voice track. Eventually in the late 70's, like SONG OF THE SOUTH, it was pulled from future circulation. The Preacher was played by Charles Gordone, the first black playwright to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for "No Place to be Somebody" (1970).
