  • You watch your phraseology! Lol!

  • Every one loves a barber shop quartet :) awwwwww

  • PRESS 1- JEALLY CLYY!!!! l0l

  • I love Kristin Chenoweth!!

  • 4:04 perfect acting by Zaneeta and Tommy, two facial expressions simultaneously executed by the two in less than a second.

  • I was Marian in my school production last year no offense I liked our quartet better sorry movie

  • Have to wonder why they didn't get Four Voices to do the movie.

  • why all the comparisons to the original? musical theater was meant to be played over and over with different casts. if you like the other one better, than watch that one instead, nothings stopping ya

  • Zaneeta was prettier in the other version...

  • Now, the quartet in the first movie was older men. Wish it was like that in this one too.

  • @donxavier10 regarding the high tenor - that's how it is supposed to be with Barbershop...

  • The high tenor is amazingly weak! He is relying on falsetto to hit the high notes but doesn't have the breath support to back it up. Most likely he's not a tenor at all, but a jumped up baritone, or a lyric baritone.

  • Lol nobody notices how good that Bass's (Olin Britt) range is, those notes are pretty hard to get.

  • "Don't you COUNTER-DICT me......lol" Mayor Shin is hilarious as always....

  • i played Zaneeta last year in 8th grade and Tommy was played by a 5th grader it was kinda awkward but it was really fun!

  • @lillisnow2 At least you had fun....wish my school had something like this....

  • @ebazz8305 yeah but it was A LOT of work no one in the play had ever heard of this before and it turned out really good!

  • @lillisnow2 well congratulations on that success....

  • wow i cant believe this . right now my school is in the making of the music man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!=D

  • I did the show. Took about 200 hours to make no joke

  • I JUST LOOOOOOOVE THE ICE CREAM PART IN THIS MOVIE!! IT'S MY FAVORITE PART!!!

  • Same here i can sibg almost an octive lower

  • Eat your heart out Forever Plaid <3

  • HAH!!!! I can sing lower than the lowest guy and im in 8th grade!!!!

  • I WANT MATTHEW BRODERICK'S REVERSABLE BAND JACKET! :D

  • @theatrebabe412 i have one :D

  • @mercinary545 where or how did you get it? did you do this show?

  • I was wondering how this 2003 quartet would match up against the Buffalo Bills. This musical's quartet music was written specifically for the Buffalo Bills by the writer of the music.

I was very disappointed, this quartet's tenor was a mere shadow eclipsed by Vern Reed, the original tenor.

  • 2.54

that snarky grin.... now THAT's charm

  • I didn't even know there was an original music man till I read all your "lovley" comments

  • saw a high school rendition of the music man last night. the school omitted 3:16 - 5:36. the play just wasn't the same after that... :-(

  • @vlasktom That has got to be the most important scene in the musical. It shows that Harold is actually able to form music out of no music.

  • i love those 4 dudes singing :)

  • "How'd you make out with the music teacher?" :)

  • Am I the only one who misses the overly annoying screechy 'YE GADS'?

  • I have to say, htough I do tend to prefer Robert Preston's enthusiasm in the older Music Man movie, I do like Matthew's singing and take on Harold Hill. I do prefer Kristin Chenoweth to Shirley Jones because I think her take on Marian is much more as intended in the original script. I also love how this movie follows the original script nearly to a tee. Major thumbs up on it!

  • "did you ever do anything with perpetual motion?" "oh yeahhh, i nearly got it a couple of times!" too funny!

  • man yet again stalking the girl

  • the guy who plays Tommy is awesome :D

  • The quartet part is always my favorite part.

  • hooray for falsetto

  • I've seen the old movie,I prefer this one and why do you watch it if you don't like it go find the old version and watch it .

  • My college did Music Man last semester in the Fall. I played Constable Locke but my costume was WAY different than the one the guy is wearing in this video. It was alot of fun to do it and it was my first musical ever!

  • Oh, this is just the worst acting I've ever scene, made all the worse that they take no originality in their lines. I can clearly match this part in the movie to the part in the older (and better) movie. And the Buffalo Bills (the quartet in the old one) own these barber shop rejects like Rikki-Tikki-Tavi owns Nagaina.

  • @megadork456 I concur, and I know exactly how well Rikki-Tikki-Tavi owns Nagina. Ah, the ever marvelous mongoose...

  • @megadork456

Yes, and your spelling isn't the best I've ever "scene". ;)

  • @h3lblad3

Right, sorry about that. I try my best though, even if no one knows who I am.

  • yee gawds...

  • @StarzGaze31 ee gats not yee gawd

  • no, go bills man. THE best

  • I'm Ewart the 2nd tenor in my musical production at my school

  • Cool! I'm a townsperson in my school's production!

  • im actually singing 2nd tenor in our school production of THE MUSIC MAN!

  • Zaneeta is WAAAY to flirty, and she doesn't hold out the "yee" in Yee-gawds! long enough. This movie is terrible compared with the original.

  • @MissMarianParoo

THANK YOU!!!!! finally someone who thinks this movie is as horrible as i do! Its like comparing apples to oranges!

  • @BAAAAAAABA I totally agree with you!

  • Man, the fourth guy can go high! Of course, I still like the other Barbershop Quartet

    SDVR007: I know, I miss the mix-ups!

  • That's because the original quartet is the Buffalo Bills, the 1950 Barbershop Harmony Society International Quartet Contest champions. These guys are pretty good singers, but they don't know anything about barbershop.

  • damn straight! I really wish they'd hired some barbershoppers to do this part. These guys are actors, not harmonizers :P

But I do wonder if they started singing barbershop after the movie was done haha

  • I dont know wat to be in the play

  • When I heard the quartet, I was completely blown away by it! I find this version better than the Buffalo Bills!

  • The quartet in this version has a much smoother sound than the Bills, but I much prefer the authenticity and crazy tenor lines from the old version.

  • Matthew rocks!

  • I love the outfits in this movie!!!!!!!!!

  • The quartet is pretty darn good! I was in the quartet in high school, a million years ago. :)

  • I love this musical so much! I'm Tommy in it in my Community Theatre production. We've only started practicing last week. It's a great experience!

  • they made the mayor too strict. he should be more bumbling.

  • these guys aint got shit on the buffalo bills! it doesnt even sound like barbershop style, they break the phrases far too hard and the lock and ring isnt nearly as good

  • Not bad, but I've yet to find a rendition to top the Buffalo Bills

  • Beutiful barbershop singing, but I prefer the old schoolboardmembers. Especially the tenor who nailed the high notes without falsetto. This is still very good though.

  • you watch ur phraseology!

  • hehe! I'm playing Zaneeta in a communitty theatre production. I don't know how much longer I can stand hearing myself saying "Ye gods!" lol I annoy my self soo much! =P

  • Yeah. I'm Tommy. Zaneeta says "ye gods" far too much and Tommy says "Jeely Kly" far too much. Ha ha.

  • gads

  • This version disappoints me. :( And yet I'm still watching it.. because I can't find the old movie on here. Just clips of it.

  • I must say that I LOVED the barbershop quartet though. :D

  • i like this one better

  • in this version, zaneeta is less annoying. in the original zaneeta really annoyed me with her "ye gods".

  • yes sir, do i have to? you have to. yes sir

  • i love this movie we are doing this at our school!

  • love kristin so much even if in this part of the movie there is just a little...

  • im doing this play an i auditioned for zaneeta but i got winthrop instead but i love being winthrop its a lot of fun!

  • isnt winthrop a guy and zaneeta a girl?

  • ya im a girl and i got a guy part

  • o...i got a guys solo :)

  • nice lol

  • yessssss

  • mmm. Zanita's dissapointing : \

  • wen tommy says jeely kly. he's saying a slang term for jesus christ. Jtlyk

  • Whatever happened to "great honk"?

  • "Jeely Kly" was in the original Broadway script. The 1960s film version adapted "Great Honk" as Tommy's...tagline, if you will.

  • a theatre i want to join will be doing this and i wanna be Tommy. I think he's cool. if i was older-harold

  • my teacher made me audition for tommy in musical theater class

    lol

  • How sad is it that I am noticing every single difference between the three vesions?

  • sure, i know harold hill is a conman, but i just LOVE how he comes in and stirs up the whole town. :) it's just such a perfect definition of a musical. there's a standard, and that standard is totally turned upside down by one or a few ruffians. :)

  • great great great quartet this movie is classic

  • this is my fav movie mostly cause cheno is amazeing i in it but still i absolutly love this movie!!!

  • ... You thought Robert Preston was good at singing?

It was acknowledged by the film makers that Preston had a very limited range, so he had to chuck a Rex Harrison and speak-sing through some of the melodies.

Try watching this movie as something different, not something trying to upstage the original.

  • UR STUPID. KRISTIN CHENOWETH IS MY FAVORITE MARIAN. asswipe.

  • wth

  • I prefer the 1962 Music Man, but that's just my opinion.

  • What's Tommy saying instead of "Great Honk"?

  • "Jeely Kly" its what they have in the original script.

  • i love matthew broderick

  • Dude...high school Tommy looks about 28.

  • i know ppl keep saying matt brod is no good at this role but on the other hand. i'm only 17 and this would be my first time actually seeing to music man so i must say I'm enjoying it regardless. It's deff nice to actually recognize the actors. :P ( Chenoweth is superb as well )

  • XD I love the guy with the super high voice.

  • im doing a music man show tomoroww!

    im playing tommy! :D

  • thats cool!

im doing a music man show tomorrow too!

    and im playing zaneeta :)

    ye gods

  • actualy people she is saying egads

it sounds more clearer in the orginal or maybe stage play

  • i thought it was ye gods...idk it says so on the captions =\

  • It's ye gods. I was in the show.

Ye gods is in the script

  • In this version it's Ye Gods. In the original version it's Ye Gads.

  • XD oh god this is soo great, our school did this!! Wow the guys sang great Graeme!!

  • wtf gee lee cly???

  • The guys in the quartet are the Dapper Dans from Disneyland!! I love them!! They were also the singing busts in The Haunted Mansion with Eddie Murphy.

  • I KNOW!!! The Buffalo Bills are AWESOME! That guy held the "ice cream" note for hella long!!!!!!!!!

  • gee gods!

  • its yee gods!

    haha.

  • oops, sorry im hearing impaired.........

(i was refering to hottiesexybaby's reply

  • oops, sorry im hearing impaired.........

(i was refering to hottiesexybaby's reply incase this doesn't show up under her comment :))

  • its actually yee gads lol

  • This movie their doing their script of of the musicals the original did theirs a little different. And omg! i hate that "yee gods!" it sounds so bad!

  • its supposed to be jeazle peets

  • no thats in the junior version it's jeezle peets. in the actual version it's actually supposed to be "great honk".

  • yeeeeees sir!

well somebody's happy about that order. ;)

  • Look at Kristin's clothes. Everything's covered!!

  • I still LOVE the original. Kristin Chenoweth is so good for the part of Marian (the librarian!). Anyway, Matthew Broderick? Don't got bad bone in his body! I don't know why he talking! He's so innocent.

  • When I meant the original, I meant the one with Robert Preston. Kristin Chenoweth wasn't born yet! I wish she was in the original. Well actually, if she was, she would be very OLD right now! heh heh heh!

  • If I was his oldest girl I wouldn't mind Tommy hanging around me...haha. Someone upload the original version, please!!!

  • haha, totally agreed. i wouldnt mind switching places with Zaneeta for a little bit!

  • OMG, they should've had charles lane in the remake as the old guy!!! that would be awesome!!

    RIP, Charles Lane...

  • ehh i def. liek the original movie better.

    bring back the buffalo bils!!

  • Are you from Buffalo, New York?

  • *cries* Bring back the Buffalo Bills!! And post the original movie please!

  • the barbershop quartet...hmmm I'm partial to the Buffalo Bills

  • @greentrombone I'm a trombone player too! And the magnificent Vern Reed -tenor of the Buffalo Bills -he was one of a kind. Most if not all barbershop tenors of the last 40+ years have been falsetto.Vern owned thosed full voice high b-naturals-amazing! My dad got to play the part of Jaycey Squires twenty+ years ago when he had those notes full voice too.

  • Not helping his rep with the guy in charge!
