Bureucracy is a complexed process and even if the air force says "yeah we'll take 350 of 'em" that is sure bound to change before a final contract is signed.

This video proves how little people understand about the F-22 & F-35. It's not just a "fighter" but rather a weapons platform loaded with software programs to not only detect enemy combatants, but to infiltrate their systems like a virus & destroy them miles before they even think about engaging in a dogfight; if they some how get lucky enough to get within 60+ mile of one. Sure a P-51, like most WW2 planes, is more maneuverable than any jet at low level speeds but does that make it better?
Those who shout maneuverability without considering anything else, like years of technology/avionic/stealth advancement, fail to understand that in order to engage in a dogfight you have to get close to your enemy; that defeats the whole purpose of the F22. If maneuverability held such an advantage we'd be fly F-15 S/MTD today. btw, 3D vectoring doesnt create as much lift as a wing. Forward canards+ wings/rudders + thrust vectoring = maneuverability overkill. The human body can only take so much
a eurofighter typhoon can hold it's own against an f22 and if it had thrust vectoring (which would be easy to have they have a spanish company who can fit it) it would out match an f22 and costs about half of the price.

The tradition Su's and Mig's thrust vectoring angle is 15 degrees, when the Raptor's is 30. The Raptor can definitely out perform and out maneuver any fighter jet out there in the world right now.

yes some planes are *just slightly* more menuverable than the F-22. But those planes (like the Su-35) have no supercruise, no stealth, no integrated avionincs, no internal weapons, no AESA radar (usualy), poor electronic warefare capablities, and an inferior altitude ceiling
the Sukhoi Su-47 Berkut is more manuverable, has supercruise, stealth, glass touchscreen avionics, i think it goes as high as 65,000 ft, emp capabilities, and it can beat the crap out of the F-22 and F-35. Lets hope that we dont go to war with Russia!!
You're a bit off. Su-47 is signifigantly slower and does not have the same altitude. It also cannot carry as many missiles. It has many problems with stability. And don't forget that it is only a prototype. Its a concept demonstrator. parts of it will be used to create russia's 5th generation fighter but the Su-47 itself will most likely never go into production
I knoww the F-22 is a great combat aircraft, but somehow, it just doesn't have the character of its predecessors, or even other modern aircraft such as the Eurofighter.
If that's the case I'm going to invade a country with an airforce that consists only of biplanes from WWI. These things are so slow and manouverable that the fighter jets can't keep up. Show them whose boss!
I was under impression that F-22's chief advantages are stealth and supersonic cruise speed, which are supposed to let it to stay in "can't touch me" mode for the entire duration of the engagement. It's "supermanouverable" for a plane that can cruise at nearly Mach 2, but it isn't supposed to get into dogfights in the first place.
Of course people who know nothing about the subject matter will always think that the latest must be the absolute best in every way, F-22 is just a case in point.

The only way you can get by with saying the F-22 has zero kills is by using a technicality. It has yet to destroy a ground or air target, but it does have simulated kills that show its true effectiveness. How about six F-15s taking on one Raptor and once, and simply being taken out without knowing about it? How about a small force of novice Raptor pilots getting a 100:1 kill ratio against the best Eagle and Viper pilots in the country at Red Flag? The Raptor's kill ratio pays for itself.
How does that F-22 perform in FSX? I was looking for a good payware model and I really like Alphasim's quality, but I noticed that it was for FS2004 only.
I already have that model. It's actually pretty good for freeware, but I'm looking for something a little better. If Alphasim's works well in FSX I'll be willing to buy it.

a eurofighter typhoon can hold it's own against an f22 and if it had thrust vectoring (which would be easy to have they have a spanish company who can fit it) it would out match an f22 and costs about half of the price.

One more thing, a lot of other aircraft also have thrust vectoring and great maneuverability, but you're wrong when you say their thrust vectoring and maneuverability can out perform the Raptor's.
The tradition Su's and Mig's thrust vectoring angle is 15 degrees, when the Raptor's is 30. The Raptor can definitely out perform and out maneuver any fighter jet out there in the world right now.

I have roguhly 10 years of experience in researching air combat, and there's no way the F-22 is the best fighter.
I am a NATO-citizen, so this is not whining from Russia or China (Chaina has blocked YouTube, on a side note), I just dislike the Raptor and the vast overrating of this - not bad - but definately not as good as they claim - fighter.

yes some planes are *just slightly* more menuverable than the F-22. But those planes (like the Su-35) have no supercruise, no stealth, no integrated avionincs, no internal weapons, no AESA radar (usualy), poor electronic warefare capablities, and an inferior altitude ceiling

the Sukhoi Su-47 Berkut is more manuverable, has supercruise, stealth, glass touchscreen avionics, i think it goes as high as 65,000 ft, emp capabilities, and it can beat the crap out of the F-22 and F-35. Lets hope that we dont go to war with Russia!!

You're a bit off. Su-47 is signifigantly slower and does not have the same altitude. It also cannot carry as many missiles. It has many problems with stability. And don't forget that it is only a prototype. Its a concept demonstrator. parts of it will be used to create russia's 5th generation fighter but the Su-47 itself will most likely never go into production

I was under impression that F-22's chief advantages are stealth and supersonic cruise speed, which are supposed to let it to stay in "can't touch me" mode for the entire duration of the engagement. It's "supermanouverable" for a plane that can cruise at nearly Mach 2, but it isn't supposed to get into dogfights in the first place.
Of course people who know nothing about the subject matter will always think that the latest must be the absolute best in every way, F-22 is just a case in point.

The only way you can get by with saying the F-22 has zero kills is by using a technicality. It has yet to destroy a ground or air target, but it does have simulated kills that show its true effectiveness. How about six F-15s taking on one Raptor and once, and simply being taken out without knowing about it? How about a small force of novice Raptor pilots getting a 100:1 kill ratio against the best Eagle and Viper pilots in the country at Red Flag? The Raptor's kill ratio pays for itself.

I like F-22 aswell. But the film itself is a comedy-comparison of now and before. And can't you see it's more of a joke rather than the truth. For one thing F-22 doesn't stall at 160 KIAS like it did here trying to gun down those 2 props.
