There's a lot of hate for the phone for its lack of wifi. Although wifi should be on every smartphone and PDA, I really think that it doesn't matter as more and more carriers have mobile internet available with more phones. So unless you're bound to use wifi, you it shouldn't affect you at all.

every review i seen on this phone is old. With the new up date the phone is way smoother and has a lot of new handy features you will find to be awesome. There are a few apps that are kind of a must, but they are free. If you aren't an idiot you will find this phone to be way better then the iphone 3G and on par with the iphone 3Gs maybe still better.
This phone doesn't measure up to the iPhone 3GS. iPhone is still the best touchscreen ever. And now it's the top selling camera over Canon. iPhone FTW

The problem with people reviewing other smart phones other than the iPhone, is everything is compared to the iPhone's capabilities. Like its internet browser or its touch screen. You have to remember that every company has a different touch screen setup. Apple's is a very unique kind, but that isn't to say it is better. It's just what everyone is used to.

That's really up for you to judge. The Storm and Bold are the newer models over the curve. But, both are fairly good. You really at that point need to decide if you want touch screen or real keys. Go to a verizon store and play with both and see which you like better.
i agree the new curve is nice but i prefer the keybord of the bold which i like alot i have alot of dropped calls with att and i keep getting dissconnected from the servers so im probably switching to verizon in the near future probably getting the storm too

Okay well I have had my storm for about 3 months now. and let me just say it is my favorite phone ever. however, the only downfall of this phone is that sometimes it freezes up and the only way to revive the phone is to take the battery out and put it back in.. I don't really understand it because it has a loading bar and it does this for like 3 minutes. after it completes that it says media secured or something like that.. hopefully this helped you out!!
Terrible. But that is only because the blackberry can only use the mobile verison has such a low bit rate. But, probably people will make some third party app or something so it will improve.

Well if you mean the price of the actual phone, it is $199 with a new contract, or $499 retail (if you don't get a new contract). I think when you purchase the phone you need to get a data plan (the prices vary on that).

Storm's pure manufacturing costs come to $205. With Verizon plan, it is $199, without a contract or unlocked, it comes to $500-750 depending on where you get it. Usually they do not do that when introducing a new phone. Usually costs less, but with the plan, it'll make up for it. $5 above, that's what competition with the iphone will do for you.
this phone still sucks. It's just like when the IPhone came out. It'll take a while until Blackberry gets it together. Right now I can't figure out this crappy browser to save my life. My browser only displays the VZ Mobile version. Fucking aggravating!
Another feature that was largely annoying with this phone is the delay between each screen. If you want to go to anything, there is about a 3 second delay.
tru, but i found that (even back when i had an iphone, then iphone 3g) if im in an area with wifi, i will have access to at least one computer, so its much more beneficial and efficient to use said computer.
ferraridav, there are tons of places that you can have wifi access and no computer. For example, iPhone users get free wifi access in any McDonalds or Starbucks (and other places). Just today, I was on a long line waiting for food and decided to pull out my iPhone and surf the web. Not having wifi to me is a pretty big knock against it.
Also, notice that the icons and graphics in general suck. When you go from portrait to landscape, it doesn't rotate the page. Instead, it simply redraws it.
i did not mean that there wont be places with wifi and no computer, rather that the places where i would use my phone and have wifi tend to have computers, either my own or for public use. i mean if im at starbucks, im either ordering coffee to go, there with friends or a date, or there to work in which case i have my laptop cuz i can do actual work with it. the graphics r more a matter of opinion, but me personally i like the minimalist design, it radiates a more professional ambiance.

the reason that the phone freezes up is because it has a relativley low internal memory of only 1 gig thats what i think.
i think that the programs that the blackberry uses are rather high in memory usage.

firmware? how is that better? ya it does have more apps for the time being, g1 has been out only a few months and iphone has been out for years so ok.....and both browsers on both phones use webkit so thats tough to argue which one is better......my earlier comment was mostly comparing the g1 to the storm

Personally I'd have to ask why get the phone at all then? I would rather have my laptop to use wifi over any phone. ((That's just me though)) To each his own though right?

Storm's pure manufacturing costs come to $205. With Verizon plan, it is $199, without a contract or unlocked, it comes to $500-750 depending on where you get it. Usually they do not do that when introducing a new phone. Usually costs less, but with the plan, it'll make up for it. $5 above, that's what competition with the iphone will do for you.

this phone still sucks. It's just like when the IPhone came out. It'll take a while until Blackberry gets it together. Right now I can't figure out this crappy browser to save my life. My browser only displays the VZ Mobile version. Fucking aggravating!

Another feature that was largely annoying with this phone is the delay between each screen. If you want to go to anything, there is about a 3 second delay.

update the os, its much faster now and they fixed alot of the bugs.. u can get it from bb's website or crackberry.

tru, but i found that (even back when i had an iphone, then iphone 3g) if im in an area with wifi, i will have access to at least one computer, so its much more beneficial and efficient to use said computer.

ferraridav, there are tons of places that you can have wifi access and no computer. For example, iPhone users get free wifi access in any McDonalds or Starbucks (and other places). Just today, I was on a long line waiting for food and decided to pull out my iPhone and surf the web. Not having wifi to me is a pretty big knock against it.
Also, notice that the icons and graphics in general suck. When you go from portrait to landscape, it doesn't rotate the page. Instead, it simply redraws it.

i did not mean that there wont be places with wifi and no computer, rather that the places where i would use my phone and have wifi tend to have computers, either my own or for public use. i mean if im at starbucks, im either ordering coffee to go, there with friends or a date, or there to work in which case i have my laptop cuz i can do actual work with it. the graphics r more a matter of opinion, but me personally i like the minimalist design, it radiates a more professional ambiance.

I have used the storm since it came out. who cares if it doesn't have wifi. Its a damn phone. Also McDonalds wifi is no where near free, you have to pay even if you have an Iphone. The new firmware fixed anything you might think was wrong with the storm. and browsing wise it kicks the iphones ass. iphone users just can't give credit where it is due because ohh they are so roped in and they worship the mighty blue apple

But you sound like an IDIOT when you make statements that are simply not true. I use my iPhone with wifi (FREE) all the time when I'm in a long line at McDonalds. Since you don't know, why don't you actually do some research (clearly, you didn't) before *guessing* whether wifi access if free at McDonalds for iPhone users?
