The song was originally by Yellow Magic Orchestra, not Michael Jackson. They released it on their album "Solid State Survivor" back in '79.

MJ did not "cover" this song...! He WROTE it!!! Because he didn't include his version on his own album back in the early '80s, he allowed Eric Clapton to record it and release it. Check Eric Clapton's album credits: written by Michael Jackson!

He gave the song to Clapton, this is a DEMO. If MJ LAYED IT DOWN.... Clapton's version wouldn't have came out. Just an impossible task to try to outdue Michael. I understand Clapton is a great artist. But Michael Jackson-R U kidding me. It's Michael friggin Jackson.

behind the mask was originally by Yellow Orchestra Michael added new vocals and it was MJs version of the song song that was covered by Clapton. I love this song :)
