  • It looks like we may have a HOLODECK floor.

  • This will be awsome for future games! imagine real life BF3 or something!

  • virtual insanity

  • The day I dreamt of ever since I was a little kid is getting closer! I had always hoped that someday they'd make a video games where the whole room became interactive and the floor moved to simulate moving in the game. Now if only they could combine that with some awesome Projection screen walls and 3D hologram graphics that pop up in front of you :)

  • how do you get off!!!

  • @69isreal Run fast suddenly >:3

  • do domu nie wróci :)

  • imagine this but with a gun and a cybernetic helmet that lets you be in a war and they would call it cod real life

  • Just imagine combing all of this together...

    watch?v=WDlvn3voblQ&feature=related

    watch?v=ZS33cENjyRs

  • Add screans and some prop guns and you got an awsome fps.

  • This would e an amazing prank for blind people.

  • Now combine this technology with Kinect and a 360degree display and we have the perfect Virtual Reality environment.

  • This is how games will be in 15 years time! with surrounding that make you in the game!

  • its not actually a treadmill, the room moves around him

  • @JordanBH95 Yea, it is a treadmill, there is one primary movement against the 'grain' and individual strips that move 'with the grain,' basically one big tread mill with little belt tread mills making up the bigger treadmills running surface but running themselves independently in the opposite directions. Ergo it can run in x and y axises dynamically, or very close to it, just not z yet. MTS makes these and other virtual simulation technologies for car companies and the military.

  • i want one!! dangerous!!!!!!! lol

  • thats the super treadmill :D

  • ONE STEP CLOSER TO HOLODECK! YEAH!

  • so?

  • wtf

  • this made me lol

  • lol.. it's like it knows where he's going next! magical. heheheh. I like it. The real one is pretty cool too.

  • wow...thats not crazy at all.

  • programmed...

  • just think about it ppl

  • lmao!

  • Comment removed

  • That would be awesome for some sort of 3D gaming effect. :)

  • I think it is the ROOM(with cam fixed) moves. maybe i am wrong.

If the floor really moves, it can be used for wall-less imprisonment. With a big enough floor to prevent one's sudden dash or run or jump, the prisoner can never reach the room's edge nomatter what. So hopeless.

  • i was thinking exactly the same

  • hahah i agree

  • wow, you're fucked up.

  • Let's hope the power doesn't go out.

  • @lithatog There's a bunch of little RF laser in the yellow bevel, they make a grid, basically it knows from this where you are stepping and how fast you are going, next there's a main rotation and a secondary set of individual rotations of hundreds of miniature treadmill belts running the opposite directions (they're what look like the 'floor') as the main rotation of the whole.

  • It's one of those kinda projected image floors like they have at the mall for the kids to jump on the fish or the turtles or whatever so they don't go into stores and get lost or break things. I like the idea of the leash though on this guy...perhaps that would cut down on the need for the projected floors at the malls... :P

  • Is he ever gunna get out?

  • what if he gotta a piss?

  • he jumps to the other end instead of running?

  • its not choreographed.

he is the one moving the floor.

when he steps backwards, you clearly see that the floor moves in front. brokendown- he is moving the floor, or is controlling were the floor goes.

don't know what this would help though?

  • i think that is called TECHNOLOGY.

  • He only stepped out for a wee wee!

  • Guys, let me out! Guys? Guys?!

  • We must find this man and free him from his robotic rulers.

strapped into a harness and forced to walk forever for their amusement...TORTURE I SAY

  • @bluemidget i aggreed with you we must free him from this curse!

  • @bluemidget like portal

  • Virtual insanity!

  • there is no escape :(

  • Either you have the most active imagination or the least.

In either you still sound like a jackass.

  • I don't get the negative response to your comment, budward. I think you are right. the sides are sealed off from view, etc.

It's still pretty neat tho. ;-)

    peace.

  • I don't think that this comment should have been condemned as much as it has been. It's possible. But likely not true, because:

    - It would take more effort to move the platform across the floor. Inertia would make it jiggle.

    - It would have to be *very* well choreographed, or we'd see a lot more of a struggle to keep up with his movements.

Reject ideas because of faulty logic, not because they're unpopular.

  • has anyone got more information on this? or a link to how it works?

  • wicked, its been a thought of mine for a while, well good, i hope virtual reality is becoming more and more

  • Cool. Add VR and it's a holodeck in the making.

  • i think oneday this will be implemented into virtual reality games.. cant wait :D

  • leave the poor guy alone, he just wants to get home, what kind of sick experiment is this?!?!

  • Rofl

  • @mandiller He can get out by swinging by the rope that on the persons shoulder

  • @mandiller like portal

  • olimario? HE'S A NEOGAF REFUGEE GET HIM!

  • Is it designed to keep that guy there forever?

  • Yes.
