That's crazy. We aren't talking NBA-small which is considered 6' to 6'2". According to Mike Fratello, his coach at the time, Spud was only 5'5" 135 pounds. How did Mike know? He stood only 5'7" himself. Spud was TINY yet he flew to the rim like a REAL hawk.

I met Spud when he was playing for NC State at the airport in Louisville. I'm 5-7, he ISN'T 5-7, he was a wee bit shorter than I. He was a very nice guy too. I knew then, in 1985, that he would put his mark on PRO ball history. Never had a doubt in my mind. I miss seeing him pick up the pace of a game.

I remember reading a SI article on Webb when he was still in college. His coach used to have him guard players that were up to 6'6" and they would laugh to themselves until he swatted their shot.

He put on the best show of any of these guys, especially considering his height.
