  • dude this is not a upgrade, its a mod, my 25 has the same set up( standard set up), if u adjust the nut on the shaft it does the same, replace the spring on the shaft with some silcon fuel tube , make a little longer and it works way better and u dont have to make a 4.18 minute video on it , its so simple, all ur mod does is release presure on the servo which isnt needed, it takes 30 seconds to do

  • i have a problem, when i was driving my savage xl in the mud the other day it was working fine, i came to it a few days later, started it up and the brakes were sticking when i put the throttle on, i wiggle the disc brakes around and they become looose again but then when i press the brakes they stick on again, can anybody help me?

  • Off topic but, I am hoping you can tell me where you purchased the roll cage that covers the head? Was this an upgrade from factory or did you order an after market part? I am replacing engine mount and beams as I type. A five mile hr front endo caught the head as it struck the ground ripping the engine half way out. I was blown away when I picked it up. Was so slow for so much damage. You have to remeber how heavy this thing is sometimes.

  • @Lean540 The roll cage is the stock one that came with it from HPI. I adjusted it to fit the longer XL chassis as it was made for the shorter X chassis. Take a look at my other vidio on how to fit it properly.

  • @Lean540 HPI has released a XL upgraded roll cage part that now covers the head and fits the XL chassis part number 102526 forget the zip tie job....for 15 bucks or so order the actual part that fits!!!

  • For all of you that don't understand this easy and affordable mod, you must have a throttle return spring in place, you may need to attach it the exhaust side twin vertical plate for more resistance in which case a servo with more torque may be required. Stop bashing this guys video because you don't understand what he is doing.

  • Brakes make you faster. :D

  • does anyone know if the aluminum hop ups on savage XL would fit the Savage X?

  • When braking the servo pushes on a spring... just cut a lolypop stick and replace the spring, now the servo push will be transmitted directly to the brakes. That simple.

  • this only works if you have a spring on the carb.

  • just screw in the plastic bake adjustment nut

  • @jansa386 why does everyoe say that!? it doesnt wrk the nut doesnt go in d]far enough and still the brakes ill never be as strong as after this upgrade

  • thers no point in that, cuz you have to buy a new servo to stop the slide carb opening wen you let go of brake, may aswell keep it stock, works fine, my savage brakes perfect

  • Hello,

I did this today and it works very good, but when i brake. And then i drop the brake to go just idling, the carb opens because the top part of the servo server follows auto when i drop the brakes.

Do you know what i have to do?

    Grtz

  • @stemargia i had the same problem the fix is relatively simple. I just shortened the spring and then to compensate for it being hard to pull i got a 6kg servo for throttle for $20. The last thing i did was drill small holes in the TVP and have the spring hanging off there and not around the high speed adjust.

  • Sure Did!

No biggy tho, as I have since rectified the problem by replacing my dual stainless disks with a dual fiberglass set. I also bent my brake arm back a fraction and dropped my suspension to lessen the chance of endo's.

Took it out for a run today... pulls up awesome now!

I will be posting a video in a few days or so to show all those who may be interested in the mods I have done.

    Happy Bashin!

  • this mod is called mrsnuggles free throttle mod.

  • Yep!

However I had already bent the break arm, and I was running dual stainless disks, which require pads.

I have since replaced the pads, however I am pretty confident I will chew out my new pads again.. so I have picked up some standard fibreglass disks & have a spare brake arm which I may fling on first!

In the middle of a rebuild, but will let you know how I go...

*BTW... Sorry to hijack your thread gabster, but anybody know of a 'Cen' 7.7 engine into a Savage conversion?

    Happy Bashing!

  • Yes,this does pull the car up great....however

Unfortunately it also makes the brakes a little too touchy and ripped my brake pads out in the first 5 minutes !!!

  • @250cortina WOW R U serious!!!!

  • @250cortina OMG 250cortina ...

How many times do you want to leave the same reply you git!

Sorry all... I'm kinda new to this comment section!

  • dont worry already got em

  • Glad to see someone else figured out how to do this. Beware though, those Diffs are gunna be taking a beating with newfound braking power and you will most likely end up replacing them with bulletproof diffs.

  • lol i just got a new dremel 4000... must say this is the most useful too ever... made a steering brace outa of aluminum (much better then the plastic one and i saved around 25 bucks) with the dremel

GO DREMEL and SAVAGE GO!! :P

  • this doesn't work , because it won't reset ever ever after the cut

One will go one way & the other will be off centered because it is now missing a part!

so youll be in full throttle after braking very dangerous

I tried this earlier tonight and now it does this to my car

    the car will sometimes

  • You said the same damn thing on my video which shows the same exact mod. And I'm sorry but if you do it correctly it works. For both the XL and the 4.6

  • Why wud u chop ur servo cap when all u need to do is adjust the brake caliper screw underneath the truck for the brakes to kick in earlier.

  • I tried that and still wondered why my brakes where still crap, i found this and it works way better.

  • Or u could just set your carb.

  • you could use some metal cutting scissors or pliers, its only a small metal sheet so you can take it to a hardware store and just quickly snip it off there.

  • that's a great idea but what if you don't have a dremmal tool for cutting the piece?
