@TheRealAovix Djent is an invented word which describes a style of playing. Djent comes from the sound made by a power chord played in a low dropped tuning such as drop A down to drop E
dudee! you gotta finish this song and sen it to me if it has a sick chores. i'll sing the shit out of it. its so awesome! im from the band Ghost of April
There's no djent in any of this. A few staccatos and bends doesn't equal a palm muted chord. Also, if you were going for the "genre" (I use that term lightly), it wasn't there. Keep writing though :)
Hey, I just ran in to your profile, and Im watching all your stuff right now! Not only you are a very talented musician, but you have a great sound!!!
Would you mind giving a way your secret, and telling us how are you recording this? ;)
@froemoe Djent is the sound you hear when you chug on a low tuned guitar, using the low strings. It has evolved into a subgenre of metal, some may say, others would disagree :) I just used the term because I like the way it sounds :P
This isn't Metal! Metal is a hard substance! I am tired of the "Djent: Genre vs. Technique" wars. It's a word. Like many words it can change meaning with the culture. Just like rock and metal.
Dude this is groovey man :P I've got a Djent original on my youtube called "Emerse", check it out if you can, and anyone else who sees this comment, thank you :)
i play progressive metal/ hardcore, i'm not too familiar with djent though. i listen to a lot of circle of contempt, and a few other bands though. What is Djent genre/ style?
@SocialOutsiderJeebus. I have no more intentions of cluttering this comment section so I'll just leave you to thinking whatever makes you happy. Why? Well, you apparently don't know the small pet-peeves that separates djent from progressive metal.
@PoeperstamP No you can with a 6 string too man, just need to get it set up right and have heavy strings on it. You could even go drop F if you wanted, of course if you have your 6-String set up like this you can only tune in low tuning.
@TheBassistSOTD hey man! The website is not ready yet! But in the mean time, check out my soundcloud profile where you will find one of our songs, called Meta. Soundcloud . com / cosmin-lupu
the genre commonly referred to as djent is just a sub-genre of progressive metal. although this has some slight technical aspects and is melodic, unless you tune down no one is really going to welcome these riffs. and if you aren't gonna drop tune, check out Cloudkicker. he tunes no lower than drop B, but the technicality, song structure, and use of guitar layering are what make his music progressive or 'djent'. i fucking hate that word.
Hey what is the tuning of the guitar for this song...i really like the 6th string's deep and clear bass.. how can you make the 6string sound like that..I dropped mine to B and it sounded horrible,, i use a 8 gauge string with EMG 81
@Sabdeth Mate, this is a baritone guitar - it has a long scale neck and it's meant to sound clean and defined in low tunings. What kind of a guitar do you use?
@CosminLupuBaritone I have a BC Rich KKV2 Premium and Jackson DX10D Dinky...i tried to lower the 6th string in the KKV2 and have not tried it on the Dinky
@Sabdeth Hey, this may help. Try using a higher gauge string set. I use 9-52 for Drop C on my jackson and it sounds good. EMG's aren't my thing but everyone has their own preferences :) If you have a good effects loop set up and a decent rig they sound damn fine. Baritone guitars are mainly used for lower drop tunings, as CLB said it's more defined in tone because of the longer neck length. Try thicker strings :)
@Sabdeth No problem :) For drop tunings you will need thicker string gauges, the lower the tuning the string gauge should match accordingly / or to what you feel comfortable with. If you have a Floyd Bridge, change the strings one by one if you can. Taking all the strings off makes the floyd dip right back into the body making it a little difficult to re-string!
@SydDante .On the BC Rich...I have Kahler Premium Bridge and on the Dinky i have a floyd rose..cant decide which guitar should i use? I think the BC rich has a long neck, right?
@Sabdeth You need thicker strings dude. an 8 is way to light for heavy drop tunings. For instance, my 6 string is in drop g# and my gauge is .62 - .11. You'd also need to get up your guitar with that string set to not screw up your neck.
@CosminLupuBaritone : It may also be the mix or just hitting the strings harder, cause the riff you play at 0:25 is nice, and your tone seems clear and not scooped. There's usually a lot lot of mids in djent tones..

@GuessMyUsernameYT It's a pretty broad term mate, it's a guitar tone, a style of metal, it's a lot of things. It' sort of trendy right now.
If you wanna know what djent is go to the got-djent site.
SocialOutsider 1 month ago
@SocialOutsider Yes, I am very aware of what dient is - and this is not djent.
Thrashman1990 1 month ago
@Thrashman1990 And why is it not djent? His guitar tone is djenty. Therefore this can be called djent.
SocialOutsider 1 month ago
@SocialOutsider No. Djent is a technique. Look at my video called "Djent Tutorial 2.0" for reference.

@SocialOutsider Clearly, your an idiot.
Djent is a technique used within a certain tone. High mids specifically.
The technique labeled as 'Djent' is not used in this video.
Djent is not a genre.
