  • @valval1547 ...... would you believe, I stayed in WHY WORRY 3 years ago for a weekend....of course it has changed now but the name is still there....it is owned by a friend's family now, so I have been there a couple of times when we liming. This footage of my country is great to see, it's almost like time travel :)

  • This is great footage. I currently live in Morne Diablo and this video is really a beautiful site of a part of my village I've never seen. Would love to have the opportunity to have a copy of this footage so it could preserved for generations to come can see it.

  • Sometimes one of the Lords would have to retreat to the House of Commons if there was a very lengthy session going on in the Upper Chambers, lol!

Another observation in this clip, the big pink man-o-war on the beach. I remember zillions of them would wash up. I also noticed the classic Thermos flask at the picnic - probably cream in colour.

  • @valval1547 Lol that's so funny. I was stung by a man of war once, at Maracas. A fisherman ripped it off my legs then rubbed hot sand all over the burn. Funny you noted the classic thermos, cream in colour. I remember those so well. And did you notice the Fernandes rum etc. stored in a Flit box? I was born at TLL infirmary in 49 and we moved to Apex oilfields in 55. What's your experience of Trinidad. I see you're in the Netherlands? Did you live at Brighton? (Dutch staff there).

  • Fantastic! When I was a child my family stayed at WHY WORRY for a month during holidays. No electricity, ice was bought from de parlour and kept in an ice-box. The upstairs toilet had a sign on the door "House of Lords" and the toilet door downstairs bore a sign "House of Commons". I seem to remember a thatched ceiling of some kind, there were double beds too. Wonderful memories, thank you!

  • @valval1547 The owners had a wry sense of humour and probably not above commenting on the colonial system? Both Lords and Commoners perform the same function lol.

  • Los Iros is popular with windsurfer and kite sailors and is a destination for weekend excursions, but it's still mostly a very quiet beach.

  • nice

  • LOvely. Never did Mayaro myself but my sisters certainly and I recognise the beach and trees from family snaps. Loved the sign "WHY WORRY This Is The Life"!
