@TrueWillz It broadens Law's options on the offense. His basics are either too safe or too punishable, & a good turtler will always exploit Law's basics. You can play & win w/o using DSS, but your gameplay would be more readable & textbook, as opposed on mixing things up. One of Law's best moves in DSS that should be in every Law players' arsenal is his manual parry (b+1+3_b+2+4~b~f~f/~b~f~b~f). MP~DSS 1,4 is a guaranteed hit once you get the timing down. There's more, but it'll not fit here =P.
@TrueWillz It doesn't have block properties. However, moves transitioning to DSS do have auto parry properties in a certain amount of frames, i.e. 1,2~DSS. The gap between 2 going to DSS is the frame window where the auto parry is active. It is really small, but it's w/in the -10 frames of punishment, making Law's 1,2 a bit unpunishable on that frame. It is high risk/reward, though, since the frame inside the transition is so small. ~DSS 1+2 is safer, since it autoblocks most high/mid moves =).
Getting Kazuya ewgf consistently(hours and hours of doing just ewgf on practice) really helps with everything in this game. Now i find these Law timing stuff pretty easy to do.
Thanks for the helpful tutorial, im trying to learn Law just so i can humiliate a friend who plays him and thinks he's good :)
Oh wow and I was wondering how to shift to DSS quickly, there must be some kind of button as to other players that can be junctioned from other moves. I finally understand how it works. Thank you for the tutorial.
wow, i see combo vid of the dss mix ups, & spends 2 hrz in practice figuring out how to do it. & this guy has a WHOLE DAMN TUTORIAL VID!!! lol aaaggrrrhhh.oh well, itz all good.
Does it really have to be [~b,f][~b,f]? In some combo tutorial forums it says [~b,f,f] (back, forward, forward) to DSS. That is what I use currently...
Hey I'm not sure, but can ws+1,2 be transitioned into one of those stances too? I think I read somewhere that it did, and I mighta tested it, but I never applied it cause my transition timing is off, so I forgot if it actually worked.
fantastic video man, if i could give you any tips for future tutorials such as this, i would definitely think about investing in a mic. i think it would add alot.
but great presentation anyway, its just a suggestion.
@Blkday64 Well it can give you the chance to continue applying pressure and even catch who your facing off guard :D Especially if they are too aggressive they can eat a good 30+ damage without achieving anything themselves... Just getting a Fffwhoaaahhh and a fist in the face :)
Not being able to do this is the only reason why I never pick Law. For me to really pick up a character I had to be able to do everything they offered, not just the basics. THANK YOU!
Great video but I have one question, its about ws+4 into dfs / dss. I can get 4,3 [~b, f]~f, f+3 pretty often now, and against the wall as well, but ws+4 dfs/dss f+1 is really bugging me, do you have to press [~b, f]~b, f or can you just do [~b, f]~f? this one is tricky against the wall for me.
@patriley2 I haven't seen any difference between [~b, f]~b, f and [~b, f]~f it just depends on what feels better for timing. WS+4 DSS needs to be done very quickly or else you'll instead do DFS which is slower.
@patriley2 I tested it out and the [~b,f]~b,f DSS for WS+4 must be done by the time Law's leg reaches its highest point. So you need to do it very fast! Hope this helps.
Guess you explained every thing.. Don't think there's something totally new to add..XD
Amazing tutorial[A real tutorial].. :D
Well.. Mix-ups is the key..
Changing from high to mid to low..
Using DSS 4,3.. etc..
There's a LAW player named JustFrameJames.. He uses it for unbelievable pressure game.. Can you explain how to connect punches after a juggle 4,uf+3..??
Actually there's another command in DSS stance, it's the 1+3 Throw. Although the throw can be done outside DSS, you can also use it while in DSS. Just thought you should know.
PS: For high-level play this throw can pretty much confuse opponents who are used to pressing 2 to slip out of Law's DSS 2+4 Throw.
there is a perfect frame for the 3,4[b~f][ f ], "you'll see on slow motion" after hitting the second kick "LK" gets down "after executing [b~f]" you must executed the "[ f ]". about WS 4, the craziest. you must execute the "[ b~f] " before the "RK" gets down then " [ f ] " perfect frame!. its just an addional tips for me based on my experience =).. so enjoy practicing DSS!!!
awww someone else beat me to make this tutorial, but you did a fantastic job. A better job than I would have done. I've started one with an idea of a Forest Law one using Marshall Law, but oh well. Keep up the great work!!
I've been playing Law for 3 years now but I still have trouble with with WS+4 to DSS F+3 LOL this is a great tutorial so thank you :D Also you left out 4, U+3. It is also a DSS It is one I love using because opponents least expect it after they block the flip and BAM DSS 1
This combo may be harder against smaller characters, I just used it for an example. You can find better consistent combos on youtube or tekkenzaibatsu.

i just figured out that to do 4,3 successfully the b and f must sync with each kick.
so when the first kick hits hit b, and when the second kick hits press f, then quickly do f+3 (dragon cannon).
i dunno but its just me.

for some reason i manage to do 4,3+dragon cannon by luck. after watching this now i understand why.
