@Sparks217 name another punk/grunge band that has been as successful as nirvana. if it wasnt for nirvana, punk music would still sound like the ramones.
@Juiz1991 Actually, Green Day is pretty damn successful...actually more successful than Nirvana was at the time and is now. Green Day before American Idiot was one of the biggest bands to revolutionize punk rock in the 90's.
@Sparks217 man.. greenday couldnt pump out songs like lithium, smells like teen spirit. kurt cobain was a genious man. greenday will never have an effect on music like nirvana did.
@Juiz1991 Ahhhhh! You serious man? You obviously haven't heard any of Green Day's music back in the late 80's and early 90's! They wrote such repeatable and catchy songs, people felt so connected to them. PM and I will send you links of Green Day's early days and I will prove to you just how much of an effect they had on people with their music.
@NirvanaDiveinme Dookie sold 15 million copies, Nirvana's Nevermind sold 30 million copies... I'll let you do the math. that still doesn't mean much, it's not like I'm going to go to a record store and opt to buy a Lady Gaga record because it sold X number of copies more than whatever else isn't getting as much air time.
@Juiz1991 Bullshit, there were several variations of how to play punk rock before 1991 look to Fugazi, The Damned, The Stooges, U.K. Subs, The Misfits, The Clash and several other early punk bands. Nirvana is so over rated.
@Juiz1991 Ya... that is all just my opinion, don't get me wrong they were an amazing band and I'll always love Nirvana but, alot of the footwork Nirvana utilized was laid out long before Nirvana came around. I'm not calling plagiarizing or anything but you can hear alot of Cobain's influences in Nirvana's music, like Lithium and Teen Spirit are very reminiscent of the Pixies for example.
@GrungeyMr Punk isn't against being successful. it's against compromising your music or ideas for success or selling out your music for a record company to control..
@pointlessproducer since when is nirvana about violence... god!!!!!!! i cannot stand nirvannabes.. i am fucking sick of nirvana fans. all they do is pretend.
i guess since the universe is ever-chaotic.. there will always be that audience to something so real.. or maybe so fake? fuck it..
Kurt Cobain was honest and didn't like to fake feelings, which is a truthful quality. If you are a truth seeker, search "Truth Contest" in Google and click on the 1st result, then open The Present and read what it says. This book will turn this world right-side up if it reaches enough people.
im pretty sure people who argue over YOUTUBE of all places suck. people dont need to share their personal opinions on sites that their opinion is MADE for. GO ON TWITTER TO BITCH AT EACHOTHER. just let the music happen man
I don't get why people are arguing about whether or not oasis is better than nirvana. They're both rock bands, right? They're just at different ends of the sound of rock music. Variety in a single genre is what makes rock music so much greater than pop music today.
How can anyone put Oasis in the caliber of Nirvana? Liam Gallagher, could never compete on the same stage as Kurt....Did someone flush your mind with bad drugs?
I would say that Oasis and Nirvana are equally in songwriting and music but the thing is, they were (oasis) heavily influenced by the beatles and nirvana nearly created his own style of music and their songwriting was almost unique. but still, dont say Oasis is pop shit.
@AltaicSupremacy I quote you "Yeah, but he did whine and cry a lot about a lot of stupid things that stronger people wouldn't have complained about. And he killed himself because he was too rich and famous, nothing more emo than that. The Tenn Spirit video was a guy doing an instrumental, he did a very good job on it and I liked his playing style."...Did you ever think he sounded like he did because he felt. if he was stronger there may have never been a Nirvana..feel & here it was real 4 him
This is one of the very few times Jurt played his Fender Jagstang!!! Awesome Guitar, I own a Sonic Blue one with pearl red pick guard and I love it!!!
@Bluevetteboy2012 That's his Fiesta Red Mustang routed for a humbucker, it originally had a red tortoise pickguard as seen on the 7/23/93 Roseland Ballroom show, but he replaced it with a white pearl pickguard and black pickup covers.
lets be for real though. kurt is in peace. he hated how the world was becoming and how horrible ppl. were becoming but it only go worse. hey kurt RIP.
I was 9 years old when we got mtv and I loved all the new music, watched all the videos and bought tapes. however I listened to rap and became a rap fan but still live this era of rock and I just cant take it because this time so great. I miss it so fuckin bad.
i can take this feel up energy...and sit and feel the soundwaves...and swim alil if i want to...to this song...and no youtubers im not high...just mental unstable hahaha
You guys are really defending 90s music? Apart from a few good bands, the 90s were a decade of crap. Unless you really like smashmouth and the macarena.
@ubernerd35 rethink about it... there are so many fucking epic albums that have been released in the 90's... Use your illusion 1 and 2, nevermind, in utero, countdown to extinction, rust in peace, black album ( metallica), what's the story morning glory, automatic for people, in utero, mtv unplugged nirvana, pearl jam's ten, core and so many others... if you believe that this albums, their artists and the genre they belong in suck... then my friend you have propably lost your fucking mind :)
@kostismv Compare this to the 60s and 70s. Metallica sold out hardcore and don't even compare to Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, the Doors, Jefferson Airplane, etc. Like I said, the 90s spawned A FEW good bands.
@ubernerd35 the fact that 60's and 70's shaped rock and roll and created the best bands doesn't mean that bans like guns n roses nirvana and red hot chili peppers suck :) that's my point
@ubernerd35 If you believe that those two bands represent the 90's then you really need to go take a look at the 90's a little closer. It was one of the best decades for rock music, way better than the 2000's thats for sure.
@pauLLLde spending my teen years in the 90's i'll say this, the music was WAY better but the girls dressed like lumberjacks...be happy you're from this era, you can always listen to this great stuff now....
@ubernerd35 Ahahahahahah well pretty sure Oasis have a bigger fan base and have sold more than Nirvana, by many millions, so more evidence that they're better. I WIN :)! They're more innovative, general and have a wider variety of music. Oasis > Nirvana. And if you know ANYTHING about music itself, you'll know how genius Wonderwall is. Listen to the instrumental brother. ;)
@ubernerd35 You, sir, know nothing of music! Nirvana were fucking amazing in their little narrow minded genre of depressing music, whereas Oasis were broad, and optimistic. Don't go into that argument with me. Why were Nirvana better than Oasis... WHY? Explain, if you can. Which I doubt.
@lawriemanc Oh, please, you pathetic little shit. Oasis were "broad" in the way that Britney Spears was broad. Pop music can suck a choad. Ubernerd is right.
@MonocleWizard It's like y'all are fighting with nothing but supporting Nirvana... but still arguing. Nirvana is known and I don't really... Oasis is lucky that I try listening to a song of there's. This computer, my head, and late nights is too much for me to try spending time listening to Oasis.
@lawriemanc before you go saying narrow minded and depressing why don't you actually listen to songs from all the albums they all have different vibes to them, i mean come on its hypocritical to call something narrow minded with a narrow mind.
@lawriemanc Noel Gallagher was quoted as saying Kurt Cobain was the only songwriter he respected throughout the 90's. He was also a devoted Nirvana fan in the early 90's, spending what little pocket money he had to buy "In Utero" when it came out.
@lawriemanc dude, music can't be measure in numbers, you either like it or not, thats all there is to it, its a personal choice. and nirvana's actually really broad, you just probably havent listened to bleach, in utero and the other 11 songs in nevermind, listen through those, im sure you'll find something appealing in there
p.s. popularity simple tells which subcultures rule, the bigger the subculture, the bigger the genre and popularity, and thats why pop is called pop, its POPular music
@lawriemanc Nirvana played 7 years ! Your " Oasis" played 18 years. And I knew Nirvana before oasis and I know more people who know Nirvana than oasis. Nirvana was / is the best band ever !!!
@ubernerd35 How do you figure that? Those songs changed a generation, same as what Nirvana did, two different segments of fans but they both had the same effect. Further more just because you don't like a song doesn't mean its a piece of shit.
@ubernerd35 Hey, what's with the hate? I love Nirvana to bits but I love Oasis as well. I think they were definately one of the best bands of the 90s. They have many more songs than Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova, both of which are good songs anyway...

Are you ready to die?
Have u lied? Have u stolen? Jesus said if you look at a woman with lust you have committed adultery with here in your heart. have u done that?
If God judge’s u by the Ten Commandments will u be innocent or guilty? Heaven or Hell? Does this concern you?
Do u need a Savior from your sins? And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Jesus came, lived a sinless life, died (for our sins) and rose again on the third day.

Nirvana and Oasis were without a doubt the best band of the 90s, and the 00s.
lawriemanc 1 year ago 4
@lawriemanc Oasis, really? Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova are the two biggest pieces of pop SHIT to be spawned in recent memory.

@ubernerd35 to true to true :)
LODintheshadows 1 year ago
@ubernerd35 Ahahahahahah well pretty sure Oasis have a bigger fan base and have sold more than Nirvana, by many millions, so more evidence that they're better. I WIN :)! They're more innovative, general and have a wider variety of music. Oasis > Nirvana. And if you know ANYTHING about music itself, you'll know how genius Wonderwall is. Listen to the instrumental brother. ;)

@lawriemanc You sir, are a fucking retard. Popularity= talent? Bieber and Gaga beat all then. Please make your way to the nearest suicide booth.
ubernerd35 1 year ago 3
@ubernerd35 You, sir, know nothing of music! Nirvana were fucking amazing in their little narrow minded genre of depressing music, whereas Oasis were broad, and optimistic. Don't go into that argument with me. Why were Nirvana better than Oasis... WHY? Explain, if you can. Which I doubt.
lawriemanc 1 year ago
@lawriemanc Oh, please, you pathetic little shit. Oasis were "broad" in the way that Britney Spears was broad. Pop music can suck a choad. Ubernerd is right.

@94Cioppa They're founders of grange.

@94Cioppa no he didnt...he said they wrote pop hooks on nevermind.
fossilbox1991 6 months ago
@MonocleWizard It's like y'all are fighting with nothing but supporting Nirvana... but still arguing. Nirvana is known and I don't really... Oasis is lucky that I try listening to a song of there's. This computer, my head, and late nights is too much for me to try spending time listening to Oasis.
mojo9o 6 months ago
@lawriemanc before you go saying narrow minded and depressing why don't you actually listen to songs from all the albums they all have different vibes to them, i mean come on its hypocritical to call something narrow minded with a narrow mind.
theBLuEReApEr2014 1 year ago
@lawriemanc Noel Gallagher was quoted as saying Kurt Cobain was the only songwriter he respected throughout the 90's. He was also a devoted Nirvana fan in the early 90's, spending what little pocket money he had to buy "In Utero" when it came out.
kirtboyce 9 months ago
@lawriemanc dude, music can't be measure in numbers, you either like it or not, thats all there is to it, its a personal choice. and nirvana's actually really broad, you just probably havent listened to bleach, in utero and the other 11 songs in nevermind, listen through those, im sure you'll find something appealing in there
p.s. popularity simple tells which subcultures rule, the bigger the subculture, the bigger the genre and popularity, and thats why pop is called pop, its POPular music
bstrdd95 1 year ago
@bstrdd95 i didnt mean rule i meant somehting else, you know what i mean, right?
bstrdd95 1 year ago
@lawriemanc Nirvana played 7 years ! Your " Oasis" played 18 years. And I knew Nirvana before oasis and I know more people who know Nirvana than oasis. Nirvana was / is the best band ever !!!
skateboarding4114 6 months ago
@ubernerd35 How do you figure that? Those songs changed a generation, same as what Nirvana did, two different segments of fans but they both had the same effect. Further more just because you don't like a song doesn't mean its a piece of shit.
sealdog24 1 year ago
@ubernerd35 Hey, what's with the hate? I love Nirvana to bits but I love Oasis as well. I think they were definately one of the best bands of the 90s. They have many more songs than Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova, both of which are good songs anyway...

@ubernerd35 But you like their other stuff?
