I have always imagined classic KMFDM running around in the dark of the night collecting the pent up sounds of the day and mixing them in a way that you would only glimpse in a moments before waking up and sleeping. And this proves it!
And what's pleasing to the ear is up to the listener. But as this arrangement of noise can be found on a musical album one could place it into the grey zones between music and noise.
Old industrial such as Krautrock could also be understood as avantgarde noise. Noize is even a subgenre of industrial music as of today.
The actual definition of music: a composition of organized sounds and silence. While you may not enjoy this, it is still music, it is industrial right down to the core.
The random arrangements of sound isn't my cup of tea either, but this is industrial by comparison to original industrial bands like Cabaret Voltaire and Throbbing Gristle. Industrial was just taking audio tapes and tracks and distorting and rearranging them while maybe putting some unconvential accompiments to it.
I think that industrial today is starting to sound too much alike. Well, at least the stuff that's on Metroplis (which is the new Wax Trax! Records of Industrial) I mean I like Combichrist and Hanzel Und Gretyl, but now days everyone seems to do either aggrotech or EBM style...

Beginning makes me picture a huge factory with a big 50 foot fan in the roof. People are dumping carcasses into it.

Three Things.
One. This isn't music. It's six minutes of noise. Drug Against War is music.
Two. I know damn well what industrial music is.
Three. Industrial rock uses synthesizers!

... you strum a guitar, what do you get? Noise. Music is noise arranged in a way pleasing to human ears.
