Dr. Zakir Naik - Can astronomical evidence be used to sight the new moon? (Eid & Ramadhaan)

The Saudi government would be responsible to formulate whatever systems and procedures were required to ensure this could be fulfilled. Together with this, it was recommended that the new month announcement be reliant upon the ‘birth of the new moon’ ( القمر الجد يد ) rather than the sighting of the crescent moon. This would allow the Saudi government to announce the new moon before it was possible to be sighted anywhere in the World. (Tuhfatul Al Ma’ee Sharah Tirmidhi vol 3, p56)

Can someone ask Dr Zakir Naik if Muslims from Europe/USA are allowed to follow Saudi Arabia who base their lunar months on a pre-calculated Umm Al Qura calendar? I think the answer will be YES, because they always get a fake witness to support it! LOL

@qamar0786 It is wrong to doubt Saudi Arabian policies on Islam as there is probably only one country in the world that uses Islamic calender.

The Saudi Arabian government releases and official calender based on their approximate calculation of the months and all official works are based upon that calender while for religious incidents the moon is sighted and sighting is announced .

@farzanatasneem talking about moon sightning you cannot follow Macca's moon sightningin the whole world, same as we can't break the fast when the Sun sets in macca, because it could be 12 pm or 1  afternoon in outher countries. Quran and Hadith says see the moon and celebrate the eid. that's the fact and cannot be changed, it doesn't says anywhere in Quran that follow the Islamic calender for Eid celebration. Mohammad P.B.U.H had always celebrated eid on moon sightning.

You did not read my earlier comment

They do not do Eid according to prefixed Islamic Calendar

Many years the date of moon sighting is different than the one going on in calendar

So Calendar may be showing 30th of Ramadhan but we can be celebrating Eid.

While on the duty paper it will be dated 30th Ramadhan just to know the official dates even in later years when one may forget the moon sighting

So even if according to sighting it is 11th of Ramadan, the writing on official papers will be 10th /12 Ramadhan as published on official calender while 11th fast will be ongoing.

It is a sin to doubt the intentions of Muslim Ummah

please watch the response by dr.zulfiqar ali shah about moon sighting and calculation...it is more islamic and more scientific..ibnu thaymiyya was a scholar of fiqh but he was rejected by the majority of ahle sunna on many authorities...

Mufti Taqi Usmani حفظه الله stated: ‘In Saudi Arabia the sighting of the moon has been accepted before even the birth of the moon on many occasions which is impossible in my view. I have discussed the situation with many Saudi Scholars and they are also disturbed with these occurrences. You do not need to watch his video if you do not believe in Islam as this video relates to deeper rulings of Islam.

Muhammad peace be upon him was the last Prophet of God and his rulings are the ones on which Judgement will be made on the day of Judgement.

Qur'an is the course book which contains baselines issues to be implemented in practical life if one wants to pass the examination of hereafter.

zakir naik is a scholar in debating with other religons he IS NOT AN ISLAMIC SCHOLAR IN TERMS OF HADITH, FIQH, TEFSEER ETC. he is critiized by many many scholars for indulging in topics he is not an expert in as i mentiomed above.

In the time of Rasool Ullah SAW, knowledge of astronomy was either too basic or it was not present at all. Know this knowledge is not only proven many times as perfect but it has proved its accuracy. So what do you think being engaged in useless debates is better or adopting a better way. This knowledge is given by Allah and Allah encourages to use mind and knowledge in Quran.

HERE IS THE EXACT HADITH,

Volume 3, Book 31, Number 137: Narrated Ibn 'Umar:

The Prophet said, "We are an illiterate nation; we neither write, nor know accounts. The month is like this and this, i.e. sometimes of 29 days and sometimes of thirty days."

NOW YOU CAN SEE THAT RASOOL ULLAH SAW NEVER ORDERED HIS UMMAH TO USE ASTRONOMY AS KNOWLEDGE, IN FACT HE JUST TOLD THEIR PRESENT SITUATION ABOUT LITERACY THAT THEY WERE NOT THAT MUCH AWARE. EVERY BODY KNOWS THIS FACT.

Is in Saudia Arabia moon sighted??? Who announces Sighting there??? These people of all times were against using of knowledge.
