  • Just picked up Sugar Shock and absolutely loved it.

I personally can't wait for Whedon's next project in comics.

I still need to buy his X-Men run in TPB.

I'd like to see him do Wonder Woman, but I would like to see him do something original too like Sugar Shock.

Also would Dollhouse work as a comic?

  • Whedon insists there will never be a Dollhouse comic. My guess is he thinks it won't work as one.

  • Reminds me how much I loved the NextWave Agents of H.A.T.E. Damn that was a funny book!

  • After the great story with Sierra, I'm floored that Dollhouse has been canceled. It wouldn't surprise me if we never see Whedon on tv again.

  • I enjoyed the book, but I'm glad it's a one shot. What happened to the days where a comic could stand on it's own, and not be a chapter of a trade to be? I really enjoyed that essay about the idea of the single issue comic almost as much as Sugarshock itself. Kinda sad you guys didn't mention that.

  • We have always talk, like in our last series of segments, about the fact there should be more single story comics so I really don't know what your perceived problem is.

  • 500 subscribers!!!!!!

  • I've given up on Heinberg, I know the guy is busy with tv stuff, but that ass has kept us from a ongoing Young Avengers four years now.

  • Joss is far superior too Kevin Smith as a comic writer, can't stand Buffy but he gots comics down

  • Tony Daniel Bats & Loeb Hulk at the same time, they're going full retard

  • Also, really wanna read Sugar Shock, Whedon SHOULD write wonderwoman cuz I would totally start reading it if he did in the case of guggenheim's writing....not enjoying his Raptor story that much at all.

  • On the Dollhouse topic, its a character drama in a sci fi disguise, but I think the disguise is so good that people don't see it for wat it really is. ppl are expecting corky fun characters like in buffy or firefly, but i like that whedon's not repeating himself. Don't get me wrong I have all 5 seasons of angel and first season of firefly on my shelf, but if i dont want to watch something thats like something that came before it.

  • i was going to get this book, but i couldn't find it. I'm not usually a big Joss whedon fan (sorry guys) but this has gotten a lot of praise, if i see it somewhere i'll grab it, or just check it out online i suppose... And i agree, Kevin Smith's comic writing has gone wayyy down hill. Maybe it's just his Batman stuff, I dunno...

  • dollhouse has been fantastic. The last episode about sierras origin was amazing. I don't understand the negative comments about the show being boring and slow, but if you compare the first few episodes of buffy to dollhouse, i'm pretty sure buffy was a lot worse and look at how good that show got when given time.

  • That last episode of Dollhouse was probably one of the best things I have seen on tv all year.

  • I can't bring myself to read Joss Whedon comics anymore. Not after the ending to his Astonishing Xmen run (kitty the giant space bullet). And I still don't like Buffy...

Sugar Shack sounds like Josie & the Pussy Cats without long tails and ears for hats.

I like Smith's Batman, honestly. Guggenheim is good at writing Wolverine, but sucks at Spiderman! I swear, he writes Spidey like a 5 year old with the puns to match. No wonder everyone, even his hero friends, thinks he's an idiot.

  • I hated his Wolverine Civil War story, it was completley horrible. The art was even worse too, and yeah he really does suck at Spidey.

  • I thought the Civil War issues were alright, and I love Ramos artwork. It's strange how everyone jizz themselves over McGuinness's art and don't like Ramos's art.

  • I'm not big fan of McGuiness myself either.

  • Sugar Shock > Josie and the Pussycats (comic not the movie)

    Ramos > McGuinness

  • Speaking of FF, Jose, comicbookclub (one of the three) didn't like the last issue. Said Hickman is writing too much Reed Richards and not enough Fantastic Four.

  • the next issue looks like it will focus on johnny, ben and the kids. one of the guys thinks BN is to de compressed. WTF????? im sure he loved secret invasion and final crisis (FC was actually good thoe)

  • Doesn't surprise me they thought that. I think it was important for Hickman to do that Reed story right off the bat. Hickman had to "fix" Reed in the same way Fraction had to "fix" Stark because of all the shit stories that have fucked those characters up over the last few years.

FF is easily one of the best books on the market. I feel sad for anybody who can't enjoy it. Maybe it needs more Wolverine, huh? :)

    J.

  • That's a good point about "the Fix", Jose. Reed needed some character fixing the same as Tony Stark.

LoL they would like a helping of Wolvie in FF. Except, I always liked the Replacement Fantastic Four w/ Wolverine, Spiderman, Hulk and Ghost Rider!

  • That was a great story. It's funny you bring that up though. The Fantastic Four Visionaries: Walter Simonson Vol 3 TP that came out this week reprinted those issues. The Art Adams art was quite nice.

    J.

  • I read that a very long time ago, in a bunch of FF comics I bought. I may still even have it. But the idea of an FF with Ghost Rider is awesome to me!

The forst time I saw them was in the Wolverine issue of "Ages of Apocolypse" back in 1999. Ghost Rider had a rocket Hell Cycle and a FF uniform shirt under is leather jacket.

  • Mark Millar fucked up reed big time in Civil war, wrote him totally out of character. DR FF and this 3 issue arc was completely about rehabilitating Reeds character from Millar's taint.

Millar couldn't have wrote a final 2 pages like in FF 572

  • comicbookclub are retards (especially Pete), did you not realize that yet?

  • IGN Just LOVES to rate Dark Avengers, New Avengers, Tony Daniel's Batman. You know they have a huge taste for horse$#@%.

  • Superman Secret Origin #2 was a bit better then the first one. IGN gave Tony Daniel's issue a 8.7... so, I dont know.

  • I agree with you on Secret Origins #2, totally.

I am not a fan of IGN's rating at all though.

    J.

  • He he. This vid has only been up for a few minutes and somebody already gave us a one star rating. Somebody must really have it in for us, huh? I wonder who it could be?

    J.

  • Well, I used all the power given to me by YouTube to raise the score to three stars.

    Power drained..

    Fading fast..

Tell my wife I love her...

    Ackk!

  • I think someone is still mad at us about our Haunt #1 review. And about some things I said on the about Tony Daniel's new Batman issue

I'll let your wife know when I see her next week. :P

    Too soon?
