Clearly a cover up, poor Tommy must've been part of or saw accidentally something dangerous, a drug deal, trade or weapons deal or money laundering, racketeering.. something. He was eliminated to cover it up, and staged as suicide. My condolence to his parents, and may they continue fighting for the truth. God bless them, and the cops are clearly crooked or incompetent.
Having seen so many uns myst episodes, this one belong to the one's that stick. How sad, tragic and makes me angry, think of that calling 911 and no one is dispatched to help, the whole management at the police must be in on it.
This seems to me to be either an intentional cover up by the cops, or it's extreme negligence (if the details of this case are as this episode presents it).
Protect and serve my ass. Typical cops. Everybody knows that cops only do their jobs if they can profit or benefit from it, and heaven forbid if it's an inconvenience. This goes on everyday, everywhere but they are so good at manipulating the public by what information they release that many people are fooled into believing all that hoopla. They are as big of a menace as any drug dealer or any bad driver. And ironically, the little man does not care, because his fellow little man is the victim.
I have one huge problem here. One side says he was killed by a bullet to the head, the other side says he was killed by a baseball bat. I dont care how well concealed the bruising is, ultimately those are so significantly different that any autopsy should've revealed something. IE a single bullet fired into the head likely wont cause broken arms or legs. Considering that difference, I can conclude that someone is completly ignoring the autopsy...question is...who?
If Tommy had an IPhone, he would have called the police while he was running or driving from the chase, and thus would not have to drive home to dial 911, and police would have been much more responsive.
Of course, I know this was 1991 when cell phones were in its infancy but we should remind ourselves, especially those who were born after that event, we should not take them FORGRANTED!
why can't we get this checked out by the federal government? Isnt that the fucking reason we have a federal government for checks on local authorities?
Dr Beyer, aka 'Dr Suicide', who worked on this case had been known for ignoring evidence, he once even stated that a man who had been beheaded died of natural causes.
In another case involving Tim Easley he said he stabbed himself in the chest even though the victim had defensive wounds on his hands.
Revolver found with open breech, no tissue of any kind on the bullet that supposedly passed through his brain, unusual blood pattern, car chase through the hood, drivers licence after death, 911 operator with very odd behavior.....
So sad that this happened at a time when forensic testing was in its early days. In these times DNA, blood matching, blood splatter profiling would have solved this in a lab.
Did he really shot himself or did someone shot him and put the gun in his hands? I think the later is more of a possibility. Also, I think the police and DEA are involved in his death as well
The part about the complaints I never understood. Complaints against who? or What? That part I don't get. This case is up there with the Russell Evans case on just plain horrible police work.
@akuma4u You're 100% right. One of the ways to tell if a person is lying is if they say "um" a lot (as that guy did) or if they avoid eye contact when talking to somebody. He's lying out his ass. Dirty cops make me sick. THEY are the reason why a lot of people don't trust or don't like cops.
If Tommy's parents are telling the truth, then I think this was a murder covered up by the police, in which case nobody will be charged and it will always be considered a suicide. Of course the DEA would deny it if he was in fact an informant; it could hinder any investigation they had going on. Either way, it's a very sad situation and his family deserves closure.
so no updates? What happened to the parents? If the FBI dug deeper they must have found something! So the first investigator who handed them the cremation note, was probably involved with the drug dealers. How did all of these things occur and nobody took the initiative to speak out before they were asked? even with the mother in the beginning when she was approached. This is horrific.

of course this wasn't a suicide. Car chase through neighborhood, strange kid has his driver's license, 911 operator who has no interest says that he called "twice" and filed a complaint, then turns around and completely changes her story when she talks to a supervisor. Kids threaten to beat him up and he says he's worried that they've gone through his mail and found out what he does, i.e., the paid check from police for being informat. It's so scary that things can be covered up like this.
I don't see how it would be a suicide. There is just too much evidence to the contrary. I suspect the police department of negligence at the very least.
Such a sad story. How can people be so evil? If I were the parents, I wouldn't be able to go into his room, it would be too painful.
I'm surprised this case hasn't been solved. They even had names of suspects and everything sort of adds up. What's missing?? It doesn't seem like one of the most difficult cases to solve. Something seems suspicious to me. Another question, why does the detective seem so ill at ease when being interviewed?
@scvbtr2 You'r right, people have a right to say anything they want. Which means I also have the right to ask a question without being told to stay on topic.
Thank You Very Much for posting this! UMyouCantStopMe posted a similar clip of this although the quality is blurry and the audio is less sharp. I beleive there is no doubt that Tommy was murdered.
@b1naryd1g1t5 What evidence leads you to believe that it was actually a suicide? If everything that was seen and discovered by Burketts parents is true, it seems to be overwhelming evidence that there is a coverup involved. And it seems like there is possible motive for the coverup as well with regards to law enforcement.
@b1naryd1g1t5 LOL, really? Huh, maybe I don't know - but without the police doing ANY investigation (car chase, fingerprints, trace on gun, blood on wall, 9/11 calls, previous complaints, bruises, defensive wounds, previous attacks, ID missing) we will never know.
@b1naryd1g1t5 What? You think it was a suicide? Really?? Broken jaw, car chase, no real serious police investigation.... the blood. Obviously not a suicide
@dowder6 A beating doesnt = murder. The guy was clearly bullied by these guys. They find him, he gets in his car and drives to the only safe place he knows...home. They chase him. As he gets out they beat him up, take his glasses and drivers license to taunt him but they dont kill him. When home his depressed about the whole event, is tired of getting bullied and decides to take his own life. The strange handwriting and driving is explainable if he was dizzy from the beating or lack of glasses.
@b1naryd1g1t5 are u for real? even after all the evidence, car chase, the way he was positioned, broken jaw, bruises on ear, blood stains on downstairs walls, issues with kids from school, you still think its a suicide? i must ask you, WHY do you think its a suicide?
